Trott makes a watch list

Hey everyone. Thomas "Tommy" Trott, formerly of Trinity Presbyterian fame, has been added to the John Mackey Award watch list.

The award is given annually to the nation's top collegiate tight end.

Trott, a senior, has 34 career receptions for 330 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He has played in 39 career games and started 22 of them.

Thirty players were named to the watch list.

Hello, I have been a lurker for some time and follow the HABOTN to the point I finally had to join in. I don't really hate UAT but I have an intense dislike for bammers (living in bham does not help) and an enduring love for Auburn.

THT,

I'd say Robert Johnson, Andy Fuller, Lorenzo Diamond & Walter Reeves probably had over 500 yards for their careers.

Also, I remember Ed West playing a lot in the NFL after just being a blocking TE at Auburn.

We'll see how trainable I am, generally pretty stuck in my ways. Thanks for the welcome, I'll try to wade into the discussion when I have something to offer.

TEs that have led AU in receiving in a season since integration ...

1983 ... Ed West 16 catches, 189 yards, no TDs.

1991 ... Fred Baxter, 28 catches, 391 yards, 2 TDs.

3:36 PM

Scottie,

I was at that game as well, one row from the top of that endzone.

It's one of the few times that I've been to an Iron Bowl where Bama fans weren't talking trash after the game. They were pretty humble after that one, because they had it in their heads that there was no way they could lose.

We need a playoff system that doesn't add too many games to the season. I say have the top 16 teams each have on coach represent them in a playoff to get to 4 teams that will play in a playoff. The 16 coaches can square off in an over the top battle royal and we should have it narrowed down to 4 teams within an hour. By the way, I nominate Tracy Rocker to represent Auburn.

5:24 PM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

Cooper Wallace was another TE who probably had 500 + yards for his career, but never seemed to be a prime target and seemed to have trouble holding onto the ball at times.

5:26 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

I would also like to nominate Nick Saban to be Alabama's representative. Saben + Rocker = greasy spot.

5:27 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Lorenzo Diamond!!! I don't recall his stats. I just like to say Lorenzo Diamond!!!

5:27 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

The best playoff proposal I've heard is 16 teams. All conference champions, including the current non BCS ones, would receive automatic invites. A committee would determine wildcards including independents and seed the tournament.

Since the first 2 rounds would be played in early December, the 12 teams eliminated would be available to participate in a traditional bowl.

5:30 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Here is something different.

5:34 PM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

NoVa,

That's not a bad option, however no matter what a Sun Belt champion shouldn't be on level ground with the SEC or Big 12 champion when it comes to consideration for the national title.

I say they can use the BCS system they are in love with to seed # 1-16.

Throw the 1st round losers and the rest that qualify but didn't make the tournament in the bowls.

Rotate the semis & finals in the big BCS bowls so they don't feel like they get left out.

5:40 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

The Sun Belt Champ would probably be a 12 seed or lower. It does allow for the occasional cinderella team though.

5:43 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Let the Sun Belt champ face the SEC champ in the first round every season. Let it continue until the Sun Belt cries uncle.

Anyway, someone there said something nice about me and Goldberg. He said we dress nicely.

Have to agree with the insiders on LSU winning the West. The west was down last season, but LSU with a QB will be tough to beat. Throw in the Chavis defense, and they have to be the favorite.

After about 4 games nobody thought he was a threat to throw the deep ball, his throws became inconsistent, and it was obvious he was done. The only problem was that we didn't have another QB that could run the offense, so we switched to RFYLK.

I can assure you we don't need any dollars bad enough to listen to that nonsense ad nauseum.

Is anyone else glad Chizik is not going to continue the idiotic policy of practicing on the crappy intramural fields? I wish Tristan Davis could have been so lucky.

You set the bar pretty high, Steve.

If they come in fourth, that would mean smack downs by South Carolina and Tennesse, with their regularly scheduled beat down by Florida. Richt's inability to beat Florida irritates a lot of Georgia fans. CTT smacked Florida around with Spurrier and with Meyer. Georgia expects the same.

Big Bird have you had a bad night?

yeah, i wanted to make some fun comments on Sensi's rant, but hell, you couldn't get a word in :)!

Georgia also has a very difficult out of conference schedule. Lose to OK State and Arizona State and things get very tough.

9:11 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Steve, you should have called in and defended Kodi.

9:11 PM
Blogger j-z said...

God I hate it when I have to agree with Steve. Richt is on the hot seat this year, just like Tubs was last year.

9:12 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Kodi deserves some respect. He made some plays running the ball that I seriously doubt anybody else would have made, but I can see him transferring or changing positions.

Blogger Monica said...

Brother Richt WILL be @ GA in 2010.

9:13 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

And no, Richt doesn't deserve to be on the hot seat, but he is.

9:13 PM
Blogger Monica said...

Well Steve you gotta get on the phone and defend your boy! Sheesh were you waiting on an engraved invitation???

9:13 PM
Blogger Monica said...

He is on the warm seat, not the hot seat. Y'all are on cheap drugs tonight.

Monica: No, not a bad night at all, I have enjoyed wading in here and there and laughing at the various Nutt comments. Still trying to get the hang of this.

9:14 PM
Blogger Monica said...

pffft You've got thang of it, BigBird! I'm glad you enjoyed my Nutt comments. I'm usually good for some common, base humor. I leave the incisive wit to all the other hotties.

Let UGA lose to UF and TN and squeak by USC. All the Dawg fans I know have been unhappy a lot lately.

9:16 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

I can see Georgia potentially losing up to 9 games. That would be worst case. But the Georgia fans won't set still for more than 3 or 4.

9:16 PM
Blogger Monica said...

How many dog fans do you know and of those fans how many have anything WHATSOEVER to do with making a coaching decision?

9:17 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Games against South Carolina, Arkansas, Auburn, OK State, and Arizona will be the must wins for Georgia.

9:17 PM
Blogger j-z said...

Actually, I do know a few. That's just how I roll.

9:18 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Fans got rid of Tuberville, just like they kept him in 2003. If the fans are behind the head coach, he stays.

9:18 PM
Blogger Dan Armstrong said...

Barring disaster, UGA won't run Richt because he doesn't flirt with every other job opening every year like a $2 ho (see Tommy T and Tommy B). Just my opinion.

9:19 PM
Blogger Monica said...

right

9:19 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

And losing his backfield to the NFL will cost Richt.

9:20 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

CTT didn't flirt with anything. That is the media and fair weather fans talking.

Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

Mon - can you give Steve one of those puhleezes

9:22 PM

if he didn't, I'm certain he allowed his employer to do so.

NPN, we need you.

And while the subject is on my mind, no matter what the record, we should stand behind Chizik this season. That is assuming we win at least as many games as we did last season.

So close....
