Trott makes a watch list
Hey everyone. Thomas "Tommy" Trott, formerly of Trinity Presbyterian fame, has been added to the John Mackey Award watch list.
The award is given annually to the nation's top collegiate tight end.
Trott, a senior, has 34 career receptions for 330 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He has played in 39 career games and started 22 of them.
Thirty players were named to the watch list.

New Page Smell!
Even in California - I still got it.
Keep Hate Alive.
that is awesome AU1
we've had a few big games from TE's (Andy Fuller comes to mind) but I'd still be surprised if any of them ever had 500 yds receiving, single season or career.
I wanna be THAT kitten.
Norm you are one bad... shut yo mouth. You just made my day!
My question: Does kitty have a feather pillow or a foam pillow?
Wives as "Madam Foreperson" ... a dangerous thing ... Mrs. Jet set an appointment with a gentlemen for a hug from the loving arms of "Yellow Mama."
I admire Dean Smith, THT. I really do. But championships have to count for something.
How about the Globe of Death offensive formation with Tyrik, Aycock, Wario and McCalebb? Man, I'm brilliant!
dang it, Hoopie. You tricked me!
Thanks everyone. I worked my butt off for that one, months even. My competition came back 3 times and the third was even less in price, today no less.
Ok, enjoy the evening!!
Hello, I have been a lurker for some time and follow the HABOTN to the point I finally had to join in. I don't really hate UAT but I have an intense dislike for bammers (living in bham does not help) and an enduring love for Auburn.
Welcome to the HABOTN, Big Bird! So glad you crossed over from lurker to poster.
War Eagle!
welcome BigBird. I'm sure you are trainable.
THT,
I'd say Robert Johnson, Andy Fuller, Lorenzo Diamond & Walter Reeves probably had over 500 yards for their careers.
Also, I remember Ed West playing a lot in the NFL after just being a blocking TE at Auburn.
Welcome to PaulMain and Big Bird. BB - stick around, we'll get you trained up as THT suggests.
Congrats AU1.
I've only been on a jury once. I thought it was interesting. Especially seeing the look on the perps face as the guilty verdict was read.
Keep Hate Alive.
WAY TO GO AU1IN04!!!
Welcome to the HABOTN BigBird. However, you must know that one must possess a deep hatred for $puat and all things associated here in HABOTNburgvilleland.
(We let FSJ have a pass because he is an AU fan at heart, he just hasn't admitted it yet.)
We'll see how trainable I am, generally pretty stuck in my ways. Thanks for the welcome, I'll try to wade into the discussion when I have something to offer.
As far at TE's go, I was a Victor Hall fan since he was in my bowling class. Looked like he was bowling with a golf ball.
anybody have a friend in AU SID office who can track down TE stats?
BigBird ... welcome. Don't feel compelled to post if you don't want to.
PaulMain ... feel compelled. Feel very compelled.
Victor Hall, nice addition to the TE discussion.
Welcome BigBird!
nice Jet
Hard to find TE stats, they are lumped in with WR's. Robert Johnson came to mind pretty quick
R.Johnson's 2 TD's in the '02 Iron Bowl right in front of me in the endzone were pretty spectacular.
ok, where can we track down a list of AU receivers with fewest yards?
THT, just look at our receiving stats from 07-08. you'll find a lot of the WR's there.
Jet i do feel the urge every now and again
THT-ask Coach Knox, underacheiving WR's were his speciality.
TEs that have led AU in receiving in a season since integration ...
1983 ... Ed West 16 catches, 189 yards, no TDs.
1991 ... Fred Baxter, 28 catches, 391 yards, 2 TDs.
Scottie,
I was at that game as well, one row from the top of that endzone.
It's one of the few times that I've been to an Iron Bowl where Bama fans weren't talking trash after the game. They were pretty humble after that one, because they had it in their heads that there was no way they could lose.
LOL, great comebacks Scottie B & Bigbird
but paulmain's comeback was better...much better
sports fans, I'm going to shut this thing down so when quittin time gets here in 15 minutes I'll already have a foot out the door.
As the great Hottie, New Smell Norm once said, over and over again,
KEEP HATE ALIVE!
GO TIGERS!!!
THT ... NSN (New Smell Norm) ...
I think Norm has a new acronym.
I'm signing out as well. enjoyed my first day of posting and look forward to many more in the future.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dont worry Jet, i think he'll be back.
possible with some other variations of that pic. (fingers crossed)
"...and we never got a chance to thank him"
If a picture of half a boob is doing this for y'all you need to seriously get laid.
OMNI - that condition is always true. A picture has NOTHING to do with it.
no doubt Mon. (sigh)
Monica ...
Could you email Mrs. Jet for me?
Then again, scratch that. Forget I said it. Nevermind.
AU1N01: Congrats on not having to talk to your wife.
And the money you made.
-
I'm still alive. Back to work. 'grats tommy trott.
Mon-He already has about 100 views on his avatar. it took me about 1 year to get that many. :)
I am out for awhile. Keep it down in here. Mom says don't fill up on bread before dinner.
Here's a question ... on the avatar count ... If someone were to look at it -- say -- 37 times in a day, are each of my -- I mean, that person's -- views counted each time or have 37 different people looked at it?
"Mom always said, don't play ball in the house."
Dad always said, "Why don't you go out on the Bypass and dodge trucks?"
Can we offically say that PaulMain killed the thread?
Jet - if that were to be so, would it be appropriate to say that the thread is now t**s up?
howdy folks. regarding tight ends. remember how well Al borgeous used tight ends early. they were abandoned recently. always wondered why. tommy trott gets my vote as most disappointing tight end in recent history.
oops, that was supposed to be NPN (New Page Norm)
the excitement of leaving work got the best of me.
Monica, you won't get any argument from me. And Norm's reply is spot on.
Wow. Just wow. To have my name specifically mentioned multiple times in multiple posts by someone of THT's stature is quite humbling. I'm liking it.
Oh yeah,
Keep Hate Alive
I'm jealous of a kitten.
Mon, you don't have to be hard up to be appreciative of art.
We need a playoff system that doesn't add too many games to the season. I say have the top 16 teams each have on coach represent them in a playoff to get to 4 teams that will play in a playoff. The 16 coaches can square off in an over the top battle royal and we should have it narrowed down to 4 teams within an hour. By the way, I nominate Tracy Rocker to represent Auburn.
Cooper Wallace was another TE who probably had 500 + yards for his career, but never seemed to be a prime target and seemed to have trouble holding onto the ball at times.
I would also like to nominate Nick Saban to be Alabama's representative. Saben + Rocker = greasy spot.
Lorenzo Diamond!!! I don't recall his stats. I just like to say Lorenzo Diamond!!!
The best playoff proposal I've heard is 16 teams. All conference champions, including the current non BCS ones, would receive automatic invites. A committee would determine wildcards including independents and seed the tournament.
Since the first 2 rounds would be played in early December, the 12 teams eliminated would be available to participate in a traditional bowl.
Here is something different.
NoVa,
That's not a bad option, however no matter what a Sun Belt champion shouldn't be on level ground with the SEC or Big 12 champion when it comes to consideration for the national title.
I say they can use the BCS system they are in love with to seed # 1-16.
Throw the 1st round losers and the rest that qualify but didn't make the tournament in the bowls.
Rotate the semis & finals in the big BCS bowls so they don't feel like they get left out.
The Sun Belt Champ would probably be a 12 seed or lower. It does allow for the occasional cinderella team though.
Let the Sun Belt champ face the SEC champ in the first round every season. Let it continue until the Sun Belt cries uncle.
This is OLD NEWS, but relevant to our aim here.
There is a website where writers congregate and (occasionally) talk about the issues of sports journalism. It's SportsJournalists.com and I don't recommend that you visit it. I don't post there. I don't read it.
Anyway, someone there said something nice about me and Goldberg. He said we dress nicely.
Next poster chimes in with: "Tate's blog title is the dumbest and least professional thing I've ever seen at a newspaper."
YAY. We're big time!
someone's just a wee bit jealous!
I don't see anything dumb or unprofessional about the Horny Auburn Boob Oglers Talking Nonsense.
Then again I guess my opinion doesn't count since I didn't go to journalism school.
BigBird that's good. Jet would be very proud.
Thanks but it was easy considering that the title includes a great many of my favorite things. Talking and nonsense take a back seat to the others of course.
One of the reasons I stuck around at first was the blog title. I am pretty dumb and unprofessional, so maybe that guy has a point...
The title of my own blog is "Die Before You Die". I am not even sure what that means. I mean, I have theories, but I am not certain about any of them.
Die before you die makes a lot more sense than die after you die... I think.
JGT,
At least they spelled your name right. That's all that matters.
When I worked in radio, I made fun of a local guy for only winning 8K (it was the lowest total ever at the time) on Millionaire and had a scathing article written in the paper about me being a jerk. I sent an email to the writer thanking him for spelling my name right.
Big Bird - good one.
Michael - you? Unprofessional? After Captain Boxhead in the office, I just don't know how you can say that.
From a PMarsh blog, Malzahn says "Chris Todd is healthy". Fear Todzilla.
Show Time in just a couple of minutes. I ain't affraid of no Toddzilla!!! :)
I know who it won't be - Clint Moseley. That boy is too whiny.
What does he whine about?
Well hey there Sean. Where have you been today?
He whines about workouts and he's always tired and not feeling good. blah blah blah
I'M LISTENING TO AUBURN INSIDERS WITH EDDIE AND SENSI
I've had health/technology issues today, both seem to have been resolved, which is nice. I had not heard anything about Clint Moseley, it is interesting that he's a whiner.
Its been a loooooooong time...Happy football season is right around the corner.
I'm happy your issues are resolved. It is just my opinion that he's a whiner and that's based on intelligence I've gathered via stalking.
Monica - do you have some sort of scoop on Mosely? Who are your sources?
Been one crazy summer...Braves are starting to stink it up again!
Norm - I spend most of my time at the office as Captain Boxhead. My pay check is made out to Captain Boxhead. I am not sure they know my real name is michael or that I have a normal head instead of a box-for-a-head.
Them song from Sensi and Eddie's show
It's from an Auburn student, Y. T.
Im telling you I think that there is a 50% chance that TOdd starts, 25% each on Caudle and Burns
I'm still at 33%/33%/33%.
Braves starting to stink it up, I knew it was too good to be true...
Mon's right...Moseley is a whiner. Today I think he admitted his puddin hurt on fb.
Is that close, Mon?
Have to agree with the insiders on LSU winning the West. The west was down last season, but LSU with a QB will be tough to beat. Throw in the Chavis defense, and they have to be the favorite.
Yes, I am still a Nutt lover, but I see Ole Miss coming in second.
Any news on Dyer? Was hoping to hear something this week....i.e. announcement date or when he wants to make a decision by.
Steve loves his Nutts... (Insert chin reference of your choice here.)
50% Todd starting seems about right. If they see his arm start having issues again, he will drop quickly.
That is only 99% Mon who is the last 1%....non of the above?
I was a Nutt fan just because everyone's been hatin on them, but after watching that HBO Sports show last night, I'm back to hatin' Ole Miss again.
The 1% is me. Gus has been sweet talking me, but he has yet to make me the sweet offer.
I CANT STAND NUTT!
Wow, Sensi is big on Arkansas. Man, I don't want to see that.
Nutt is an acquired taste.
6-3 marlins in stretch time...
Sensi is just trying to be a trouble maker with that Arky pick.
Apparently Nutt is an acquired taste I haven't managed to acquire yet.
BAD MON...BAD!
Nutt is also a guy I would like to play poker with. Poker face?
Poker face with Nutt?
bloody 'ell.
Another busy day. good morning hotties.
howdy atltig, it has indeed been awhile. Good to see you again.
Todd declared healthy? That puts an end to this QB competition... until his arm falls off again.
Auburn should be picked 5th, but there is potential here. We have talent. If our receivers aren't the best crappy receivers in the SEC this season, we could surprise some folks, especially if Todzilla comes through.
My nicknames for Todd:
Starfish - because he regenerates his arm faster than an Echinoderm.
Eeyore - because they've tacked his arm back on more than Eeyore's tail.
THT, lets see how long he stays healthy. My fear with him is that he will be healthy for a few games and then have the noodle return. If he stays solid and the receivers live up to expectations, we could surprise some folks.
If someone chimes in with Lady GaGa and Pokerface it is over.
Mon's gettin a bit saucy tonight
Thanks THT! Just watch out for the Todd...was not a huge fan last year but I have a buddy who is a HUGE Tx Tech fan and he said that he was damn good when he watched. He believes that Todd got hurt during practice after the first game. After that he never was the same.
Sensi, Auburn looked like caca after about 6 games last season. Then they got worse. They weren't even warm caca. Once it was the RFYLK offense, we was done.
Aero - it's only 37 days til kickoff where you are! What's for breakfast?
THT you've got SOME nerve calling me saucy after you spent have the day going all revenge of the nerds drooly over the picture of half a boob!
atltig - don't worry. I don't think any of us were Noodle Todd fans last year. I just think he'll be a pretty good QB with a healthy arm. My biggest fear is that his arm could fall off the next windy day.
I've never seen that movie, but that did make me LOL!
anyone that yall know going to be displaced by "The Tailgate Guys"?
and besides, it was the AU tattoo that held my attention.
I like listening to Eddie and Sensi. I think I'm going to call them and try to embarrass them.
I liked the decisions Todzilla was making early. He looked like a solid SEC QB. They actually probably played him longer than they should have. After about 4 games nobody thought he was a threat to throw the deep ball, his throws became inconsistent, and it was obvious he was done. The only problem was that we didn't have another QB that could run the offense, so we switched to RFYLK.
THT I only hope you can imagine the look I'm giving you right now.
puuuuhhleeeze
Ask them if they love Nutt too!
Steve, darlin, when you gonna come up off some of that crack and share it with Mon?
I'm pretty sure Eddie is taunting me by giving the phone number at that particular moment.
I've got Packer tickets!
On a Monday night in December. Yep, it's going to be cold.
Back to regular programming.
call, it was messed up, i'm good to go now.
Crack? I pulled my pants up.
AUMom - how on earth did you do that?
When will the insiders have Jay G as a guest?
My husband has a co-worker whose parents have tickets. We have been searching for years.
It has been on both of our Bucket Lists for a long time.
Sensi, you need to pray to Tebow for forgiveness.
That is SO cool, AUMom!!! Congrats!
Bobby Cox just got the boot on the biggest load of caca that i have ever seen...
Who the Chiz selects to replace departing coaches is a huge question mark.
who is departing?
I'm Packer Green with envy, AUMom. I've been a Packer fan since I was 3. I have no idea how that happened. I have never been to a game at Lambeau.
Thanks, THT and Mon.
I'm doing the happy dance over here.
Nobody yet, but as soon as we have a big season, Malzahn will likely move on. Trooper and Luper might also move on. I don't see this staff staying together for more than a couple of years.
could we please play a game before we replace current coaches?
have they talked about QB's yet?
AJC reported that David Irons (who hurt his knee -again- vs Tampa in Dec) was released by the Falcons after reaching an "injury settlement."
I haven't heard them talk about our QB situation.
The skywriters tour use to be a week, so three days doesn't seem too long for media days. There really isn't much info from media days, but it is something to read about.
The idea of Georgia Tech and South Carolina switching conferences is a great idea.
OMG!!! Monica on the radio!!!
yep, media days is a yawner to me.
As a resident of the aptly named bammerham I would like to see media days rotate a bit so that I don't have to listen to the S***n worshipers talk about how he is mobbed like a rock star (at the local mall no less). Most of them don't own a vehicle fit for interstate travel so New Orleans, Atlanta, Nashville, Orlando, etc would all work for me.
SteveFC - that was Salsa Shark's idea. Yes, it's still a good one. But I can assure you, the ACC has ZERO interest in that trade.
Sensi smacks down the Kodi faithful!!!
fuh real! he dashed all those Kodi dreams
Don't wish those media days dollars out of Alabama! Y'all need every penny!
Mon, you're supposed to say "you're welcome, Eddie!"
Caudle would really be the feel good story if he was the starter. I just don't see it happening. You go with the experience.
When? Why?
Well that was an abrupt end to the Auburn Insiders.
they thanked you for calling into the show right before it ended.
If Caudle is starter, I don't think his knees will feel good at all.
I think my feed is so far behind that I missed the end of the show.
Thank you, Eddie!
If Georgia finishes 4th in the east, who will their new coach be?
atl,
The group that we tailgate with has been displaced by the "Tailgate guys"...
That abrupt end was my fault. Rookie at the switchboard. Sorry for that. Thanks for listening. Really appreciated and thanks for Calling Monica.
Caudle is supposedly a very good runner, which Todzilla isn't. I wonder if his knees will hold up.
They won't get rid of Brother Richt. He's not been on the hot seat yet. Not really.
I was going to call in, but after Sensi beat down Kodi so bad, I figured what's the point?
Ominica, the Georgia implosion last season left a lot of Georgia fans irritated.
It was fun, Eddie. The only problem was it was too much like just being in a voice IM with you and Sensi LOL.
I was getting too tickled!
(and I sound like a big ole redneck girl from Brewton)
Irritated at the coach and running the coach is a fur piece apart.
Omnica, you did well. As long as you don't burp or spit anything out your nose, count it a success.
I can assure you we don't need any dollars bad enough to listen to that nonsense ad nauseum.
Is anyone else glad Chizik is not going to continue the idiotic policy of practicing on the crappy intramural fields? I wish Tristan Davis could have been so lucky.
You set the bar pretty high, Steve.
If they come in fourth, that would mean smack downs by South Carolina and Tennesse, with their regularly scheduled beat down by Florida. Richt's inability to beat Florida irritates a lot of Georgia fans. CTT smacked Florida around with Spurrier and with Meyer. Georgia expects the same.
Big Bird have you had a bad night?
yeah, i wanted to make some fun comments on Sensi's rant, but hell, you couldn't get a word in :)!
when he gets rolling it's on! LOL
he cracks me up
Georgia also has a very difficult out of conference schedule. Lose to OK State and Arizona State and things get very tough.
Steve, you should have called in and defended Kodi.
God I hate it when I have to agree with Steve. Richt is on the hot seat this year, just like Tubs was last year.
Kodi deserves some respect. He made some plays running the ball that I seriously doubt anybody else would have made, but I can see him transferring or changing positions.
Brother Richt WILL be @ GA in 2010.
And no, Richt doesn't deserve to be on the hot seat, but he is.
Well Steve you gotta get on the phone and defend your boy! Sheesh were you waiting on an engraved invitation???
He is on the warm seat, not the hot seat. Y'all are on cheap drugs tonight.
Monica: No, not a bad night at all, I have enjoyed wading in here and there and laughing at the various Nutt comments. Still trying to get the hang of this.
pffft You've got thang of it, BigBird! I'm glad you enjoyed my Nutt comments. I'm usually good for some common, base humor. I leave the incisive wit to all the other hotties.
Let UGA lose to UF and TN and squeak by USC. All the Dawg fans I know have been unhappy a lot lately.
I can see Georgia potentially losing up to 9 games. That would be worst case. But the Georgia fans won't set still for more than 3 or 4.
How many dog fans do you know and of those fans how many have anything WHATSOEVER to do with making a coaching decision?
Games against South Carolina, Arkansas, Auburn, OK State, and Arizona will be the must wins for Georgia.
Actually, I do know a few. That's just how I roll.
Fans got rid of Tuberville, just like they kept him in 2003. If the fans are behind the head coach, he stays.
Barring disaster, UGA won't run Richt because he doesn't flirt with every other job opening every year like a $2 ho (see Tommy T and Tommy B). Just my opinion.
right
And losing his backfield to the NFL will cost Richt.
CTT didn't flirt with anything. That is the media and fair weather fans talking.
Mon - can you give Steve one of those puhleezes
if he didn't, I'm certain he allowed his employer to do so.
NPN, we need you.
And while the subject is on my mind, no matter what the record, we should stand behind Chizik this season. That is assuming we win at least as many games as we did last season.
So close....
and yet so far...
