Trott makes a watch list

Hey everyone. Thomas "Tommy" Trott, formerly of Trinity Presbyterian fame, has been added to the John Mackey Award watch list.

The award is given annually to the nation's top collegiate tight end.

Trott, a senior, has 34 career receptions for 330 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He has played in 39 career games and started 22 of them.

Thirty players were named to the watch list.

call it what you will but when you constantly have your hand out for a raise/extension and go radio silent for a week or two at the end of every season to better your contract you tend to wear out your welcome. If your significant other entertained too many other offers for too long it would get old.

TT could have squashed a lot of that last year. Instead he went duck hunting.

I liked TT and being a $2 ho doesn't make you a bad person but he burned up a ton of goodwill with his end of year antics.

Big Bird - You've been reading the HABOTN for a while, right?

9:27 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

To have fans repeatedly question whether he was going to stay after him repeatedly saying he was going to finish his career at Auburn doesn't make him a ho. It makes Auburn fans unfaithful.

9:28 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Refusing to continuously answer the same question every year and getting sick of constantly being questioned isn't an issue with CTT. It is an issue with the board and the Auburn fans.

I say we all blame BigBird for the rant currently being perpetrated by Steve.

9:30 PM
Blogger Dan Armstrong said...

Monica: Yes, a long while, why?

Steve: fans supported him in 2003 because they didn't like the sneaky way Petrino was approached. Had they waited a few days, different story. Fans still supported him but fan support only goes so far, we don't control the purse strings.

Thanks Monica. I was in the stands for that hit and on the right end and side of the field. The crowd roared until we figured out that kid wasn't moving. I though Rosegreen had killed him. Glad it turned out he was okay, although I bet he flinches a lot.

10:23 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

No, I am saying static screen savers aren't screen savers. That don't save squat. The idea behind screensavers is to have the colors on the screen changed so the image doesn't get burned in, although I don't think burn in is a problem with modern monitors.

In firefox you can add DownloadHelper for downloading youtube / google videos. For playing those videos just download and install VLC media player.

You are on your own on converting the .flv into screensaver. I don't know your distro, or what you could find in the repo. I've never done that part.

Two Things:

- Can someone please enlarge paulman's profile pic?
-Aside from Bo Jackson (who I believe to be one of the top two or three college football players ever) who is the best player you can recall at Auburn?

For my school, I'll say David Palmer....or perhaps Derrick Thomas. Palmer was unbelievable though. I'll never forget the Ole Miss game in 1993. He single handedly won the game. Billy Brewer, Ole Myth's coach at the time was very amusing after that one.

I'm too young to have seen Namath, Stabler, or Lee Roy Jordan...

Palmer

Isn't it interesting how every once in awhile, SEC teams are defined by a single transcendent player? David Palmer, Dameyune Craig, Deuce McAllister, Matt Jones, and Tim Tebow are some examples I can think of from the past few years. It is also interesting how spotty their pro resumes are after single-handidly dominating the offensive side of the ball for their respective teams.

FSJ ...

On your side, I'd say the Biscuit ... Cornelius Bennett. He had to be accounted for every single play.

It's hard for me to select anyone in the lily white era of SEC football. If I did, it would be Tucker Frederickson.

And though he was the man solely for one season, I'll submit Brent Fullwood.

9:55 AM
Blogger Scott M. Brannan said...

Palmer was a stud. wasn't he solely responsible from bringing Bama back to tie Tennessee in....'94?

Dameyune Craig is my all-time fav AU QB hands down. absolute stud. even though i never really saw him play except on old videos i've always loved Tucker Frederickson. too bad we had so many injuries in '64, he could've had a much bigger season.

9:56 AM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Micheal- Agreed. Great college players are not always pro players. Tim Tebow will probably be the best example of that in the pros, and you can also add Tommie Frazier, Charlie Ward and Eric Crouch to that list. Some players are just much better in college than the pro's.

9:56 AM
Blogger FSJ said...

I agree michael...

I think it is because these great athletes in college play positions that are not "ideal" based on how the NFL likes to stereotype players...

i.e. Palmer wasn't the "ideal" WR in the NFL because he wasn't as large as Michael Irvin or T.O.

Craig wasn't the prototypical dropback QB such as a Tom Brady....

They kinda get lost in the shuffle I guess.

9:57 AM
Blogger Jet said...

The other portion of that is that people that run in the NFL don't last long.

In the NFL, they have the fastest and strongest defenders.

9:58 AM
Blogger FSJ said...

scottie...

Palmer made a great catch on Bama's last drive vs UT in 93' for the tie..

He also ran the two point conversion in...when everyone in the stands knew he was going to get the ball. The still couldn't stop him...

9:58 AM
Blogger Jet said...

NFL is "perfect" in football terms. The biggest, the strongest, the fastest, the best.

College football is "imperfect," and it's that imperfection that makes it perfect for me.

a buddy of mine jumped up at swiped away a flying roll of TP away from Kevin Greene after the 2007 Iron Bowl. he got a 'great catch & War Eagle' from K.Greene. it was a good time.

FSJ, the '93 UA-UT game is what i think about every time i think of Palmer. thanks. and yup, everybody knew he was getting that ball. couldn't stop him.

I get into it alot with some of my Bama friends who like to say that Javier Arenas is as good as Palmer...

They've lost their minds.

As far as Auburn players go..Outside of Bo, I'd probably go with Rocker..He was a beast.

Carnell was great, but the funny thing is I always thought that Ronnie Brown would have been a superstar if he had been the only back.

scottie,

He had almost the same exact run (may have been better) against Auburn in 1991. Same end of the field..same sideline. The Auburn one was for the touchdown that decided the game. Auburn had it very well covered too..just couldn't stop him.

you'll have to forgive me if i've forgotten the '91 run. ;)

FSJ:

Brown was also great but with the game on the line I wanted Caddy to get the rock. Kudos to both for never crying about lack of carries, both good Auburn guys.

Brown was underappreciated as a blocker and who could forget his abuse of Jason Allen (twice?) in 2004.

Tommy agee was a solid back as well

Personally I think had Rudi stayed he could have been a Heisman candidate

Or was that Steven Davis that left early

Terry Bowden Ruined Stephen Davis's career

Stephen Davis was a Senior in '95.

i have one of those large Ronnie B. prints hanging over my couch of him running over Jason Allen. it makes me very happy.

I was always a Ronnie Brown guy in the Ronnie vs Cadillac argument. I think the way they split the ball senior season was perfect.

James Bostic was a very underated back

I'll never understand Bowden not giving Davis the ball more in 1994...especially during the Iron Bowl.

I'm glad he didn't to be honest.

Most Famous Kevin Greene Story is that he showed up to try-out for the team at 150lbs and was told that he was too small to play. The next spring, he showed up like 230 lbs and all muscle and a strange rage to go along with it :).

10:27 AM
Blogger mytommyd said...

Bostic was a friggin man too wasn't he.

10:28 AM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Scottie- I have that same print in my office. The only print from 2004 I bought. Wonder why :)!!!!!

10:28 AM
Blogger Scott M. Brannan said...

i myself sometimes have strange rages. they come naturally, though, so it's not really a good thing.

10:28 AM
Blogger mytommyd said...

Hmmm 80 lbs of muscle in a year?! I'm sure that could be done with hard work and determination.

10:29 AM

Mrtommy- He wasn't 40 at the time, so I don't know.

I wonder if Kevin Greene reacted like this when he made starting defense:

Michael- Yes, I think they modeled that movie scene after him.

I loved em both (23 & 24), but I was definitely partial to RBrown, probably cause he high schooled about 15 miles from where we lived at the time.

FSJ and Michael - the relation of the two videos was immediately obvious to me. Michael, you must be in your bammer mode today or it would have also been obvious to you ;-)

1. Jet as Spurrier? Get me a visor. I love it.

2. PaulMain talks up Tommie Agee and James Bostic. Stop. Just stop. You had me at that avatar. You need your own category ... BEYOND NOTABLE NEWCOMER.

3. Thankfully, we don't ahve to choose between Ronnie and Cadillac. But I'm with FSJ, in a showcase system, Ronnie Brown would have been incredible.

Thank god Auburn didn't do this. This is about as bad as I've ever seen as far as publicity goes:

THT..you musta lived in the Kennesaw/Acworth. RB's cousin worked for my wife's landscape company up until a few years ago.

The "opportunities" for RB to get in trouble im Miami are mindblowing. Someone is always tempting those pros with something. He has carefully structured his life to avoid "opportunities".

10:41 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

I hope RB can avoid those temptations. He is a fantastic person, and he ain't half bad as a football player. I think he could have had Joe Cribbs type numbers if given the opportunity.

yep, Hoopie, about 4 miles south of Acworth in Burnt Hickory Lakes. I always got a kick out of the "3 sparkling lakes" advertised by the developer when they built the subdivision c1990. One was nothing more than a muddy retention pond. We lived on top of a hill with a "majestic view of the north Georgia mountains", which I believe were hills in south Cherokee County. But I do miss that long-range view. I'm a mtn top kind of guy.

Yeah, Eddie, I'm glad our coaches and PR folks have a little more sense than that. Chains around the neck, hmm. And with that another thought passed through my head.
