Other observations
Here's a list of some stuff that didn't fit elsewhere:
- Auburn-Ball State television information:
- Live:
FOX Sports Midwest
FOX Sports South
FOX Sports Southwest
FOX Sports Houston - On delay:
FOX Sports Arizona (9/28 @ 6:30 p.m. PT)
FOX Sports West (9/26 @ 11:15 p.m. PT)
- Live:
- NEW DE Hot Carter said tonight that he expects to play this weekend against Ball State.
- NEW DT Mike Blanc said he played sparingly against Louisiana Tech because he was being disciplined for tardiness. That was the night Nick Fairley started.
- Gene Chizik has gone out of his way to make Auburn hospitable to NFL scouts. I see them much more often these days. Moments ago, I saw a gaggle of scouts rolling through the lobby. They represented the Raiders, Chargers, Chiefs and Bills.
- Remember how Trooper Taylor always said Tim Hawthorne can't make the club in the tub? He apparently told No. 13 the same thing to his face. ``(I) probably thought about
tatting it on my forearm just to remind me." - Hawthorne described Anthony Gulley as "the countriest guy I know."
- Ben Tate on why Auburn has outscored opponents 66-19 in the second half: ``I think it has to do with the pace of our offense. The defense has to start wearing down in the second half. That's when you start piling on the rushing yards, passing yards, whatever. The blocking gets a little easier for the offensive linemen, and that's when things start to happen."

no way
talk about a lucky blog check.....
nice sting, Hornet
Hornet breaks his maiden!
Never admit luck Hornet, it's always skill.
nothing wrong with "Country" Gulley.
To answer Comm'r from the last thread:
I don't see Chizik getting looser in terms of accessibility. This is how he is and this is how he's going to be.
I think he'll become more personable as time goes on. He's improved in the 10 months he's been here.
Who's the countriest blogger on the HABOTN?
ain't me, but I'll lay claim to dullest.
Got caught on the other blog but not worth repeating.
Gulley may be country, but he is cool. Man, I love the vibes from this team, including the coaches.
We're all country, peeps.
NO TUBS!
Who got caught on the other blog, digger?
Thanks Jay. I won't look for Chiz to start break dancin' at any pressers any time soon.
anybody want North End Zone tickets for this weekend? I've got extra
that was purely in reference to Tim Hawthorne's comments; you needn't read anything else into it.
Jay I was talking about the other thread, sorry
How do I get in touch with you Hornet? I think I may need to go again.
JayGT - Fox Sports Carolinas will be showing AU vs that "good football team" LIVE on Saturday, also.
mytommyd - I emailed you
We know Gulley's a little bit country. Let's hope that he's a little bit rock 'n' roll, too.
WHEN WILL BENTON CATCH A PASS?
It is starting to get on my nerves...Darvin has impressed me but, really, Benton has by far the most "potential" and the most talent of any WR on our team.
Trooper says he must earn it. I say Troop is saving him for some unsuspecting CBs in the meat of te season.
I'd like to see Tyrik play a little bit, too. Cause that means we're winning big time.
Hornet- awesome Kris Kros avatar. I had that tape and the SanFran starter jersey. And yes i did wear it backwards
Has anyone noticed that Mazlahn is most likely to run the reverse in the first drive of the game? I wonder if this is his way of saying yeah, you better make sure you watch that guy.
Harrison - I got "Totally Crossed Out" and "Ropin' the Wind" for Christmas in 8th grade. This was back when CDs came in a big cardboard box.
NOOJ.
Welcome back.
Tyrik is not going to play this season. Sorry to break hearts.
xoxoxoxox
It's funny, sometimes I start writing a thought, and then think to myself, why in the world would you post that?
Kinda like this post.
Who didn't get the Kris Kross & Garth Brooks combo gift?
I have decided that I really like Trooper Taylor and Gulley.
I'm confused about something. I was at the game Saturday night and Auburn's "quick" offense seemed slow to me. According to the stats, WVA ran 80 plays to AUs 74. How can Ben Tate say we're tiring the other team's defense out?
mytd...
Dude, you post what we all think. Eerie.
cd's in cardboard boxes were the shizzle. i had 4-5 Garth Brooks' boxes in storage. i was so cool. apparently were were too Hornet.
Eddie how are you taking this whole "Tyrik not playing" thing?
suntiger, 1 word : TEMPO.
wears it out yo.
Anyone think SC has a chance against Ole Miss on Thursday?
That's what I'm talking about. There didn't seem to be a fast tempo Saturday. Maybe in the other games, but it was missing against WVA.
tommyd, you should see Eddie in person. he's developed this nervous 'Tyrick Twitch'. you can't hear it in his voice, but he's strugglin'!
About a month ago I refused to drink the Auburn Kool-Aid. The left side of my brain couldn't make the idea of a successful season work logically and the right side of my brain quite working a long time ago...
So for weeks now I've been sitting here staring at the pitcher of Kool-Aid in front of me... refusing to take a drink, pushing it farther and farther away...
Saturday night I drink the whole damn thing.
Apparently I owe Mr. Todd an apology and a very big one at that. Maybe now that my move is complete I'll have the chance to see him around town and do it in person.
Crow taste pretty bad, but the Kool-Aid is making it go down a lot easier...
A thought - Our offensive strategy has a LOT to do with tempo. For opposing teams to prepare for us, they will have to practice against this tempo. So either their practice teams can emulate that speed and possibly wear them out before the game OR they can't get to that speed and not be able to keep up later in the game because of that speed.
Warm it up, Chris.
I'm about to.
Warm it up, Chris.
That's what I was born to do.
James, since you're in Auburn now and not B'ham, you're officially responsible for all HABOTN refreshments on gamedays.
what, you didn't know this? sure you didn't.
Welcome, Suntiger.
Welcome back, Stan.
Tempo - Fast - Slow
Just WIN Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Jay. First Auburn game I've been able to attend in a couple of years and I nearly drowned! But it was worth every raindrop!!!!
I think SC has a real good shot at Ole Piss on Thursday.
As for Gulley, I think he's misunderstood.
He's from Brantley. You kids remember the song.
"They say the neon lights are bright in Brantley ... (In Brantley) ... They say there's always magic in the air."
Suntiger, i agree with you about saturday nite, but that's what Ben's talking about. they're still only 3 games into this new offense. it'll get there. what was really ugly to me on saturday nite was when they slowed the pace down to run the clock in the final minutes. i think that resulted in a big 3 and out.
Jet, every time i look at your avatar i swear it looks like a flaming alligator wearing sunglasses.
random. sorry.
JGT is the Mack Daddy....or is it Daddy Mack.
Scottie,
Putting me in charge of refreshments, at least of the adult liquid variety, would very much be putting the fox in charge of the hen house.
Gulley seems to be a nice kid--country or not. Humility makes you work hard.
I see the flaming gator.
I also need someone to explain the whole couch burning thing, I think I must have missed that.
Aero..Sensi..JGT....just to set the record straight. I'm a full believer in coachspeak and most proper coachspeak is boring.
My attempt at tongue-in-cheek humor was meant to be a swipe at AU fans that make fun of boring coachspeak.
Another lame attempt on my part at putting that type of humor in writing.
Yeah, I thought of coming to your defense Hoopie since you are the biggest proponent here of the idea that many average fans are emotional and stupid and the coach should understand anything he says can be used against him strategically or motivationally, but then I got distracted and hey there is a fly in my cubicle that is driving me crazy!
tommyd, WVA fans are infamous for burning couches after big football victories. thus, 'save the couches'.
here's a sample:
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/s_397283.html
Hoopie- mu humor doesn't come across well on paper either cause you can't hear the fart noises
i also can't type worth a fart
AU offense was a little slow this past weekend, and didn't run as many plays, but if you recall, the defense returned an interception for a TD, which kept the O off the field and put WVU back on the field. AU also had a few too many 3-outs while WVU converted 66% of 3rd down tries.
Ol' Miss will score. How much they score depends on the schizo SC defense. Ol Miss should look at the UGA offensive game plan for clues.
Well it finally quit raining so Coach Superior will probably hit the golf course and not have a good offensive plan. He's milking that deal.
how much is a fart worth, Harrison?
Scottie, I'm not sure how to respond other than the line, "You were serious about dat?!?!" I now know what it feels like to be dumbfounded
From the link:
West Virginia has always been a rowdy school, but this week, our couches should be safe," Wilson said.
Wilson said the problem was blown out of proportion by the media. Many of the students burning couches aren't even from Morgantown.
"But that's the image we have now," he said.
"I think we're moving forward on this problem, but it's something that takes time,"
-------
Unbelievable, I had no idea. I thought it was just one of those fun hillbilly/mountain folk jokes.
Jet,
Who's couches do the WV fans burn after big victories, their own or their neighbors or ???
Do they make Phart Emoticons?
Sorry, Make that Scottie and whose.
Some say they are priceless Michael
Harrison, some do say that. Others say $3.75. I tend to believe that.
well then. I would like to purchase all of your farts in advance
i think they burned whatever they could find in the streets or cheap student couches. it's a pretty amazing deal. i would love to get my hands on the t-shirt that says:
Where Greatness is Learned and Couches are Burned"
i had a few couches in my AU tenure that no one would've missed if they had went ablaze.
At $3.75, the Sultan of Dubai does not have enough money to buy all my remaining farts.
THT, do the math on how many farts that is.
I'm just going to quit my job and collect $3.75 a fart. Do they still count if you're sleeping?
Michael....sigh....I go a couple of months without a fanbashing diatribe and they forget who I am....however Capt. Thighmaster remembers... well...unless a fly starts buzzing around.
Given that the equation has 2 unknowns, the best I can come up with is $3.75x
NEVER..light a fart while naked....jus sayin'
unless, of course, you know the Sultan's checking account balance and didn't want to share that info...
How much can one multiply one's fart income if using a Thighmaster?
answer = 999,999,999,989,999,999,999 farts remaining.
If you need
Farticon
Puppet Hour is starting early today!
a lot, the combination of straining and stronger thigh and butt muscles grreatly increases your farts' earning potential. That's what Suzanna Sommers says in that comemrcial
THT - I was hoping you would find a website estimating the sultan's worth. Just wanted you to do a little leg work, that's all!
Suzanne Summers knows a thing or two about farts. Patrick Duffy tells all in the part of his autobiography about those stanky Step by Step years.
Hoop, I wasn't responding to your comment. I think I've read your opinion / approval of coachspeak in earlier threads.
I was just expressing my opinion on it, and the paul finebum stuff. It's not in response to anyone in particular.
So you're saying larger, more powerful farts are worth more? Is a dutch oven kind of like a savings account? Or is it more like a pyramid scheme?
And for those that don't believe:
Mythbusters
What has more value, one of Michael's fart or Paul Finebomb?
Beasley amidst the farts.
scott choc- they are in my view. But Michael sees them as worth all the same. what was the point of the thighmaster than anyway??
let's see... buy an old map or buy a fart. Wow, that's a toughie.
i like how all the fart talk is under the heading "Other observations."
Do farts appreciate or depreciate in value over time. Are they an investment vehicle?
Do we have any type of indoor practice facility, I feel like an idiot for not knowing this...
I posted this on another forum. I didn't spend too much time on stat sheets but after a cursory glance these are the numbers I came up with:
Noel Devine:
First quarter. 90 yards on 4 carries. .. 22.5 yards / carry.
quarter 2, 3 and 4: 38 yards on 11 carries. 3.5 yards / carry.
Jarrett Brown:
First quarter: 41 yards on 5 carries .. 8 yards / carry.
quarter 2, 3, 4: 25 yards on 14 carries .. 1.8 yards / carry.
One hell of defensive adjustment after 1st quarter I'd say.
More importantly, jhag, you know who that receiver for UGA is.
It could have also been a lag from a 1 hour delay Aero. Regardless, they took care of business.
As far as I know there's a half-size indoor practice facility.
Aero, that's true. I was just messing with jhag.
Half-size indoor, yes. A halfie.
Aero: You post on other boards? I feel like you're two-timing me.
Jay G. don't like him no two timers.
FYI - Nerds burn couches too.
I was a freshman at Tech in '92. When the Braves won the pennant, a mob of students started a fire in the middle of the intersection of Techwood and Bobby Dodd. There were several couches involved.
Fun times.
I know you were, scott. I am not sure of the size that's why I said 'as far as I know'.
what the .. why is everyone getting defensive? Am I bullying people?
Aero mentioned Andy Bitter earlier too, so he's probably three timing us.
Huh? Who's being defensive? I was trying to poke a little fun at the jhag/Hoopie dust-up from previously. At least I think that's who was involved. The only ones who need to get defensive are AU's defensive players.
Orsen Charles? Michael Moore?
One of those two has to be the UGA receiver I've heard so much about.
uh oh. I got caught. I'll do my best Gov Mark Sanford (R) impersonation.
No I was just trekking the forums, Naked. uh. I mean...
I wish I could wish it away, but this soul-mate feel I alluded too is real and like a good hypocrite I'll quote you some Bible now..
Do I get a pass?
No but really Orsen Charles kid is a STUD, true freshmen
Welcome back, James.
Either 4 days in limited duty has made me a lazy person, or it takes a couple of days to recover fully from being sick.
You leave a bunch of boys alone in a room and they have a farting contest.
Anyone listen to fbomb today? Was he still stirring the pot. Opening Drive devoted their whole show to Trooper and what he might have said. They are taking him at his word that is not what he said. I say he knew he had a mic on, he isn't that stupid.
Don't talk about farts. I'm in Washington, DC, the birthplace of the fart. Remember, SBD was the original WMD.
Tavarres King?
Cincy.
I wasn't in the farting contest. No, not me.
Two-timing is fine ... as long as it's with bloggists I consider credible.
Evan Woodbery
Charles Goldberg
Andy Bitter
Andrew Gribble (aka Gribbles and bits)
Luke Brietzke
Hey, I am a blogger. Eddie is a blogger. I resent that statement, although I am not sure I disagree with it.
Jay,
Where do I find Luke Brietzke? I have heard of the other credible bloggists, but not Luke.
My wife's sister (who is much younger than my wife and me) had a neanderthal-type boyfriend in high school. We used to call him SBD. My wife's sister was not a fan of the nickname, but we used to crack ourselves up calling him that.
I vow to never two-time Jay G for SteveFC. Book it.
I sometimes have fantasies about cheating on Jay G with The Beaver.
anyone wanna go get banned from Al.com?
this is the weakest puppet hour ever.
JayG.
Sometimes I post on /respond to AUC forums.
I'm afraid I don't share your outlook on mr Woodberry. He's always the first one to carry any negative news, or giving a negative look to anything positive. Unfortunately certain associations make his neutrality questionable to me.
I've seen worse PF
Hola Hotties - I wish I had ample time to catchup with all the latest and greatest, but I don't. What's the suppposed Trooper controversy? What's the story? What's the 411? What's the scoop?
Uh, can one o' y'all tell me what you're talkin' 'bout?
I don't have a problem with Evans being a bama graduate and fan.
However if a journalist lets his fanhood (if that's the word) or past association taint his writings, he's not very credible in my eyes.
Where are the minions hanging out these days?
Woodberry and Gattis are ninnys. They have weak articles and jump on anything to get attention. Josh Moon sometimes slips into this mode.
Goldberg = that'll work
Bitter = good
I think that sometimes PM lets his fanhood influence his writings.
A guy that goes by Acid Reign over on Track em Tigers puts out stuff I enjoy.
Norm, Trooper may or may not have used the n-word and Mindbomb got all hot and bothered over it. Seeing as Trooper happens to be black, this is terribly ironic. The video of the incident is floating around and I actually saw this on live TV and thought nothing of it. The big scoop here? Why doesn't Mindbomb have a life?
I have tons of blogs I read, many dedicated to Auburn, but I dedicate my commentary to Jay G. Tate's primarily because he is my hero.
PM does do that, but I'll give him a pass on it...he's earned it.
The problem with two-timing with Goldberg or Woodberry is the website their respective blogs are on...
Visiting that site tends to leave a smell that just doesn't go away very easily...
Norm - Trooper was mic'd up in pre-game (maybe during the game, too). There are claims that he used the "N" word to fire up the players, Mike McNeil in particular. Even when listening to the tape, it's really hard tell whether he did or not. Finebaum is really stirring the pot on the whole issue. He got someone to come on his show and recommend that Trooper be fired.
It is better to sign up for the RSS feed to Goldberg's blog. That way you can jump straight to it, rather than muddling through the al.com cesspool.
Kiffikin admits UT was scared of Florida in the past.
Personally, I think, based upon precedents set elsewhere, Trooper should be given an ice cream cone.
Interesting note on Finebaum:
Gribbs was a guest on Finebaum's show today and guess which topic wasn't discussed. That's right. I sense that Finebaum knows the story isn't legit. If he thought it was, wouldn't he ask an Auburn beat writer about it?
Nice point, JGT.
I've mostly followed PF this afternoon. Not suprisingly after the ESPN guy and McNeil denied that the word was said, PF now is no longer leading a charge and is slowly backing out of it. What a chump. Tommorrow he'll cut folks short on it and claim it to be old news.
Any chance for an apology? Of course not. PF would justify that he just "lead the discussion", while ignoring the fact that he controls who talks and how much they get prompted or get to say. Late in the day yesterday, PF mis-quoted the Gump atty to say that Troop "should be fired" instead of "should be fired IF he said it".
Thanks for the updates dudes. Must be a slow news day yesterday and today then.
I've got them all saved as favorites and don't hit the mother sites.
I do go to the MA however. I keep up with a few local HS teams.
JGT...PF asking an AU beatwriter anything usurps his power and risks his relationship with the Bammer minions.
I (and most other Hotties) would pay good money to give you an unedited on air chance at him .
Why can't there be a daily four (or two) hour SEC radio show that's reasonable? Is that too much to ask?
Personally, I have no need for Mindbomb. I have in the past attempted to listen to his show, but I just couldn't do it. It is very hard to take it seriously.
EBro -- I always thought Max Howell's show was pretty balanced. It was boring. Maybe someone else could do an exciting and balanced SEC show.
I know what you mean, though. Seems like that would be a hit.
Hadn't heard him before.
When will Radio Free Jay G. premiere?
Radio hates me now.
Only one radio station has interest in me: Jackson, Miss.
So it goes.
Bags's show not going to use you this year?
I thought you were very good on their show.
Only one? ONLY ONE? How are you gonna trivialize the best show this side of Dan Lebotard by saying ONLY ONE? No other show is good enough. J Kev do it right.
You are always welcome on the Auburn Football Insider Podcast, Jay G.
EBro...An all SEC radio show would be awesome. The challenge would be to get it started without digressing into local rivalry squabbles. ESPN radio could probably pull it off with a southern only syndicated broadcast featuring JGT as host and Tony Barnhart as the color guy/minor antagonist. Call-ins would require screening for substance.
Nice segue and reminder Sensi!
Ronnie Brown makes film a two syllable word.
Would be nice Hoopie. Very nice.
MMMMM Chili
Ronnie Brown - Wild Fish
Watchin' Barca-Racing on my DVR right now. Big kudos to ESPN for showing La Liga in HD.
la liga is spanish for teh gay.
So I hear Hot Boy and Antoine Carter our going to be ready to play against Ball State
You lie Big Snacks.
finebomb is a ninny. After trying to start something that did not have legs he will hide behind his mike which he can do easily and not talk about this subject.
Egg on face that does not show on radio.
I do have to say that fancy footwork from the little white guy in navy and maroon striped jersey before he passed it to the little black guy for a tip in was pretty good. I didn't need 90 minuted to see it, though. SC top 10. I win.
JHAG...It's about time we got some defensive help. So which one do you think will get in the game first?
Digger..PF's minions eat it up. said minions don't possess coherent, cohesive thought processes. He punks 'em regularly and they come back for more.
So why does Hoopie listen? Hoopie normally swings by once a week or when a ready-made PF issue is brewing.
Zing!
I don't really wanna do WMSP anymore. Kinda down on some of those guys.
I wasn't complaining about the lack of radio exposure. I prefer to get paid for working.
I prefer to get paid for not working, but getting paid to work is a close second....
you gotta look at being on the radio and TV as personal branding. Just count what you think you should get paid to appear, write it down, and consider that extra income. Now subtract out that same amount as marketing expense. You just took home the same amount but increased your marketing budget by a ton. When you are hosting PTI or EPL Today, you'll look back and consider it money(time) well spent.
Mytommy- In reference to how i'm handling Tyrik not playing this fall....FANTASTIC, because I thought that if he didn't play then we would be better than anticipated, too which I believe we are. Chris Todd is winning games. I wasn't convinced Auburn could win games and be productive. So it goes. The Rollison Train is parked back at the station and ready to pickup steam again in the spring. I don't buy that Caudle will be ahead of Rollison after the Spring. I would be shocked. Jay G did a great job of predicting Chris Todd along with some guy who coined Toddzilla, I just didn't think his arm was 100% still.
That's brilliant, Frankenbummer.
I can definitely see Jay G hosting EPL Today.
JGT..I listened to some of the Roundtable today and of course they were discussing the "word". Maybe it because the subject was something that Bags always desires to discuss, the show stayed on point. I generally agreed with Bags today and he can handle that subject well, although Doug is better. I don't agree with Bags propensity on normal days to hijack the conversation to one of the few topics that he can handle.
I was riding in the caboose of the Rollison Express but got off when Todd was named NO. 1 I wasn't too sure about his arm but it seems to be doing great.
Jay..any truth to the rumors that you are talking to ESPN about their open slot?
Okay 2 hours wasn't enough sleep. How I just drove 2 hours to get home and am still capable of halfway coherant thought is beyond me. I gotta be back out the door in 7 hours. Hottie out....oh,and thanks.
Hoopie I know the game PF plays and only the stupidity of his followers keep him on the air. They don't realize, I guess, that he dogs them about 35% of the time.
They just follow along barking.
JGT...Tony Barnhart has sortof done what Big Snacks is suggesting and has increased his exposure. If you were allowed to expand your CFB coverage....for...whomever, you could have insight and presentation abilities > TB.
Finebaum couldn't make it if both Alabama and Auburn were great at the same time.
He thrives off of one team being down.
May have missed it, but any discussion on lack of production out of Eltoto? Too much enthusiasim, 100 mph overrunning plays?
I have added two new items to the blog -- Hot Carter update and Mike Blanc update.
True FSJ that is why he is pullig Sh__ out of his boots right now. He can't really dog either one.
AllenD: Josh Bynes said tonight that Eltoro is trying to be "too perfect" and, as a result, is not playing all that well.
I am very much looking forward to Antoine Carter back in the lineup.
Eltoro kept missing the matador Saturday night.
Glad to seem some help coming on board. We can sure use it. They have played well but starting after the Ball State game the compition gets tougher.
Sorry if that offended any one. My wife told me that I needed to remove that. It was inappropiate. Sorry.
If you hadn't deleted it, I would have. Damn, man!
Watching eSPN this afternoon and they were asking Doug Lesmerises, Clevelan PlainDealer how he made is wild picks. He said he tries to block out last year and look week to week how the teams did and what was the compitition.
Alabama 1

Houston 3
Cincinnati 4
Florida 5
Boise St. 6
Texas 7
LSU 8
California 9
Michigan 10
Auburn 11

Iowa 23
Mississippi 24
Southern Cal 25
Look at No.5 and No 11
Sorry Jay G. I didn't think anything about that. I just thought it was funny off of South Park but I guess I should have thought.
Only one radio show (that I've heard) deserves JGT. Most AL radio guys are lame.
digger, if you look at it like that his poll actually makes some sense. I like that approach to it, as long as he has no problem dropping teams who won, which some pollsters do. For instance, even if Boise continues to win they would drop if teams like LSU and Auburn continued to win, as both of those teams play a higher quality of opponents from here on out.
OMG has anyone looked at the computer polls. It is a shame that these things carry as much weight in the BCS as they do. Jeff Sagrin's poll has Iowa ranked #7 in the country. Pathetic!
crap digger...look at number 1.....
:-)
Sagrin does have Auburn #15, UAT#9, UF #21, Miami #1 and FSU #2
I intend to watch his picks and see if he walks the walk and not just talks the talk.
get er done
FSJ there was so much red and white up there I couldn't see who it was.
Based on who they have played thus far I am not sure who I would rank number 1. Probaly Miami or Alabama. However, I do not think that either one of those teams will be there in the end.
