Arkansas 44, Auburn 23
Hey everyone. I'll be posting some relevant stats, quotes and information here as the afternoon progresses.
- Gene Chizik said LB Eltoro Freeman is on the team, but didn't make the trip because of "personal issues."
- Onterio McCalebb on what the loss means: ``You're going to see a whole different team from what you've seen. We're going to go out there and practice hard. We're not going to be not focused in practice. We're going to come out ever hard because of this loss right here.
- Adam Herring on what happened: ``Coming out of halftime, we knew we were still in it. We knew what our offense would be capable of. We didn't put it together as a team today. We just didn't get the breaks."
- Ted Roof on front-line substitutions: ``We rotated and played a lot of people. That's going to help us develop some depth. We need to do that and we're going to continue to do that. When we do sub, the guys who come into the ball game have to get it done for us."
- Gus Malzahn on what he told players at halftime: ``We just started talking about that there's nothing they were surprising us with. It was just a matter of executing. We kind of shot ourselves in the foot early with some execution, some penalties and some drops, some overthrows -- just some things that we hadn't done all year up to this point."
- UPDATE: I'm headed back to Tulsa. Take care.

I think Alabama is the best team in the conference.
Guess that makes me a "Bammer" to some of you.
Whatever.
I agree... not sure Bama won't go all the way. They have it together on both sides of the ball. Reminds me of 2004. If one side has a bad day, the other side picks em up. Its a tough combination to beat.
LSU's defense has looked better than last season. I am hoping they pull the upset here.
Tebow is playing tenatively....which is understandable
Nah, not a Bammer. Hard to turn a blind eye to a good team. I hope they enjoy it bc Chizik et al are changing things. Give them some time.
I think Auburn is the best team in the conference.
I have a bad feeling about Tebow playing, by the way. I kind of cringe every time he takes a hit. I don't like Florida, but I don't want to see the kid hurt.
Agree on Tebow, Hoop. He's playing close to the vest.
Well, I am disappointed in the loss, but I think it will pay dividends for the rest of the season. Seemed to me they never quit and that says a lot. We knew this was going to be a rebuilding year and I still think we have the potential for a great season.
War Eagle and it's still great to be an Auburn Tiger!!
Definitely think Bama is the best in the SEC, if not the nation, and I will NEVER be a Bammer!
Sensi...
You think what you want. I'll do the same. I respect you and I expect the same.
Kathy, I am afraid you may be right.
ehyou, you haven't passed out yet?!!
What will be interesting is to see how Auburn responds to a loss. Maybe someone will give a speech like Tebow did last year and we will go on to win the National Championship :)
I'm with Cincy though. They better enjoy it while they can, because Chiz and Co are going to right this ship!!!
Anyone ever seen the bobblehead center move?
Funny Cincy! We definitely need someone to tug at the old heart strings!
Wow, just typed a long post and it didn't go though. That pretty much sums up today nicely.
michael,
We'll wait for you to retype it - I know it was profound
michael,
We'll wait for you to retype it - I know it was profound
Ah, man, even Michael gets posts rejected?
Same thing happened to me Michael... the internet appears to be a little flat today.
ok, Michael, your post must have morphed into mine because it posted twice all on its own
I blame it on the Bambi nation. It is a conspiracy against Michael.
I really thought I would feel alot worse about this loss. I don't like it, but I'm not as devastated as I thought I would be.
Tommy Casanova? Ummm, how often do you think he got his butt kicked growing up?
The 3rd quarter has kept me from feeling too bad about it. They showed me more of what we have seen since the season started. We actually worked ourselves back into the game (ie. didn't quit which was awesome) but another turnover and a long TD drive by the Pigs hurt. There were some good things today.
Cincy nailed it.
The true character of a team will show itself after a loss.
How many dive plays are they going to run?
I love Auburn. I expect them to win every game. Nothing will ever change that.
War Eagle.
A bunch until Tebow is ready for his next whatever.
Raise your hand if you'll be glad when he graduates so the worship can stop.
There were positives. We came out in the second half swinging. We had at one point 20 unanswered points.
ehyou, I love your optimism
I still say Les Miles was in Full Metal Jacket.
Why is Les yelling at the official. It's his guys that are lining up offside.
that looked like a helmet to helmet hit to me... as clear as it gets
FYI - Alcohol helps optimism.
Thought the same thing Ham.
I O W A
If Bama would'a listened to me they lose today. Boo Bama.
ehyou,
I'm not drinking, but I am still optimistic.
What's the cocktail of choice ehyou?
I hate Bama
Sensi...I think bama is the best team in the nation...they don't have any weaknesses
SteveFC....Tommy Casanova was a stud for 3 years at LSU. I doubt anybody beat his azz. Rumor on LSU campus was that Casanova was aptly named.
Hoopie, thought the same thing about Mr. Casanova. Was thinking, huh, what an awesome name.
Random thoughts:
Sensi - I've been saying since week 3 that bammer was the best in the nation, but neither of us are bammers.
Looks like Tubs was right about it being a 3 TD game, he just got the winning team wrong. Guess he feels kinda foolish tonight.
AU really needs to beat KY next week. This is now setting up as the 2nd-most important game of the year, just after the WV game. Even I have to admit that 6-6 is possible if we lose it.
Jet, I realize we are very thin, but we aren't that thin on offense. It really shows up on special teams, and later in the game on defense.
We aren't gonna beat anybody 7-0. We've got to outscore people for any win we get now, and that does leave little margin for error. But some games things click, and we'll have some more of those this year.
War Eagle!
Salty dogs today.
Right on Cincy. Optimism wins. Naysayers can.....well I won't say it.
nice ehyou.
I kept getting the feeling that Arky had picked up on our offensive tendancies. Last years game against Tulsa may have helped them do that. I won't study the film to see what Arky did and I hope the rest of the SEC doesn't either.
CGM may need to adjust.
Arky definitely planned correctly that we would start the game running/short passing. We needed some early deep passes to back them up. Missed one that was wide open and then couldn't shake guys open downfield until 3rd Qtr.
Coosa ... We play 6 linemen. That's thin.
think the announcers are a little too excited when tebow gets hit... may be exaggerating a bit
what's with all the helmets coming off this year, don't remember that happening so much in all the years I have watched football
If Fla wants a TD, they gotta get it from 15-20 yds out. LSU's speed can cover everything once the field is shortened.
Cincy....I've noticed the helmets coming off more each year for several years now. The last cfb helmet I saw had a much slicker interior finish than older helmets. In HSFB, helmets were dewsigned to be tight fitting...don't know if today's helmets are designed differently.
nice call Hoopie
Really...6-6? Has anyone seen UGA and Ole Miss play this year? It's one game. There are 6 more and they aren't played on paper and they won't be played today. 5-1 at the halfway mark is pretty good.
We lost today kids, but that doesn't mean we have to like it. Hopefully they'll learn from it and come out and play with more energy.
By the way, I love that UGA got smashed by UT.
Pretty obvious hold on that FL TD
Ole Miss is good. They played the best team in the nation today.
UGA is baffling. They have as many good athletes as LSU and Fla, but no discipline.
This is the 3rd year for defensive underachievement at UGA. Their DC must go. They get out schemed shoot themselves due to lack of defensive discipline.
I'm sorry, but Ole Miss is not "good."
Ky-USC played an even game today. UK will not be an easy win. Home field at night will be the difference that let's us win.
Parity..parity..parity
Is it just me or is Auburn not a big deal and then POW, ranked and all of a sudden it's a big deal. No highlights to really speak of but this week TV can't get enough. Is this Au's fault for choking after being ranked soooo many times or is it the media. Any thoughts?
I thought Ole Miss did a good job holding AL to 5 field goals.
I'd give them a solid "decent" rating.
Ole Miss has a very strong defense, sure. But the rest of that team has a ways to go to catch up
we'll know at the end of the season how OM stacks up. I suspect that a whole bunch of the SEc will look like the ACC last season....lots of cannibolism.
I thought modern helmets had air bladders to ensure they are snug.
My guess is that Ole Nutt gets things together at some point.
Any way we can trade for some LBs? That position is looking worse by the week.
I hope he doesn't get it together at Auburn
Auburn rocks. I like them every game.
The heavy drinking since 10 is catching up with ehyou. I'll suspend my Auburn propaganda till tomorrow.
War Eagle.
EZ...I think the press was reluctant to promote AU until we beat UT. We won our first 4, but exhibited a lot of sloppy play. That sloppy play rightly causes press skepticism.
I don't think that we lost because it is a superstitious thing like we finally got ranked and got the big head. I think that Arky exploited our weaknesses and we couldn't exploit theirs.
Steve...yes, and they have a slicker finish than the older ones. Maybe new designs mandate that they not be pumped or fitted as tight.
this is my guess as why helmets are flying
Todd didn't have one of his better games, but his play as a whole has been better than I ever thought it could be.
Tate played hard as usual, but the fumble really hurt. Sometimes good players have bad games, I just hate it so many had a bad game at the same time.
I think AU comes out and plays a very good game next week.
Sean..we got a bunch of Qbs and WRs to trade for LBs. Now if this were only a fantasy league.
We're a decent 5-1 team that had a bad day. UAT is a very, very good football team. I think they're are the league's best team right now.
We can have a good season, but we're not a 10-11 win team. It's still a fun team.
Don't panic.
"These things I have spoken to you ... in the world you will[a] have tribulation; but be of good cheer ...."
Preach it Brother Jet! Can I have an "Amen!!!"
Amen and amen
AMEN!!
They really should still have the 5 yard facemask. Now if you grab it, you may as well hold on.
very interesting how the FL center kept turning his head to signal the snap count, never seen that before
where'd everybody go?
Sorry, I left and booked my hotel rooms for Jazz Fest in New Orleans. Not till April but never too early to get the rooms. Learned that the hard way with Athens GA this year.
Along those lines... if anyone is so upset over today's game that they are no longer going to Athens and need to ditch their hotel room, I will gladly compensate you for passing them to me.

How about this: Auburn still controls their own destiny in the SEC West. How about this: If Auburn somehow pulls off 3 of 4 out of Kentucky, LSU*, Ole Miss, and Georgia (completely feasible), the game against Alabama will be for the West. How about this?
*Assuming LSU loses tonight
It's been a long day. Our boys are back home. They're hurting. That's OK.. It was a tough day but we're not done. War Eagle! DWWD! No Drops! Fewer penalties. No turnovers. No missed tackles. Godd night.
hey, Sean I liked that, why did you delete?
Later Jet
(I am also assuming LSU will lose to bama)
I"m confused - sorry michael, I thought Sean posted that
are michael and sean the same person :)
Someone named Sara posted something incredibly similar to the post I ended up posting. Hmmm....
OT: As a big brother, what am I supposed to do in this situation...
My sister (18 y/o) and her boyfriend just broke up. They had been dating for a little over a year, it was her first real boyfriend. I think he broke up with her, giving her a variation of the 'its not you its me' speech. I don't know the full story, because my sister called my wife to tell her.
Am I just supposed to stay out of it, do I console her, do I tell her all guys are a$$hats to make her feel better (I really don't want to lie though)?? This is uncharted territory... what do I do here?
ah, Sara not Sean, now I understand
OK, I'll solve the mystery for ya. Sara, my wife, also has a google account that sometimes sabotages me when I don't log out of it. Sara appeared to you as Sean, cincy.
D, let your wife handle it. She obviously respects her opinion and it will strengthen the relationship between them. Just my opinion.
D Miller,
Tell her like I used to tell my daughter, all men are scum except your daddy. Seriously, just be there and listen if she brings it up. You don't need to say anything except that you care about her.
D Miller, tell her to jump right back in the hunt so that she doesn't die single.
Just kidding. I don't know, when my sister got dumped in the old days, I didn't say much of anything to her. Girls probably need girls in that sort of situation.
Dmiller..my daughter is 21. She had the same happen to her when 18. I left the consoling to my wife and daughter's friends and just let her know I loved her and was available.
If your Sis asks you for consoling, then try to do so and resist the urge to "fix" it. I've comitted numerous errors when trying to "fix" emotional issues for females. If she specifically asks you for advice or your opinion, be honest, but tread carefully.
Good Luck. No charge for the advice...War Eagle!!!
michael,
Back to your scenario. If Auburn loses one of those games and then plays Alabama and wins, we would have two losses, bama would have one. How does that win us the west? What am I missing?
Florida is starting to look like they are fully in control
this has been a hard hitting game
good advice, Hoopie. My husband has learned to ask me "is this something you want me to tell you how to fix or just listen to you?" when I unload a situation on him :)
kiss of death? drive stalled
Cincy...Michael's scenerio works if LSU beats Bama and we beat LSU and Bama.
That's getting complicated right there.
With the way we've played in recent weeks, that is approaching pipe dream territory...
Hoopie,
That is where I got confused because he said in a later post he also assumed LSU lost to bama.
Florida's defense is pretty good itself...
Hows this, if we win the rest of our games, we win the West!
I'd go for that, Kathy!
Don't trust my logic cincy, I have a headache and haven't eaten dinner yet. I also drew up a scenario where we lose all our remaining games and end up in the National Championship game.
michael,
I think that would be a tough trick
D Miller ..
Give her a hug -- real or virtual. Tell her you love her. Ask her how you can help because you care for her. If she wants to talk, then talk. if she wants you to listen, then listen. If she wants you to shut up, then shut up. As much as fathers and brothers want to fix, we are relegated to a supporting role.
whew, long day, not much good out of our game today, no one person or coach lost it, i can pin some blame on pretty much every unit, ha, it was a team effort in the loss.
Miller, I think you have gotten some excellent advice for the Hotties.
OK Pat Dye said the greatest compliment he could give a coach was, "Your kids played hard." We lost, but our kids didn't give up.
The good news - We win out from here and we're SEC champs. War Eagle!
Great point astatguy. It wasn't a lack of effort, it was a vast collection of screw-ups. They will go back to work tomorrow and get better.
Maybe it was the fans fault! How many Auburn fans were there? Were they into the game? Did they participate in Tiger Walk?!!!
You can't blame all the Auburn fans for the loss, but I think at least you can blame Sensi.
Linebackers-I happen to like Bynes and Stevens, they have talent and hit hard, but we cant give them any rest due to our numbers.
Word is Eltoro is pouting bc he hasnt been playing, but if he was realistic he would know he has been way out of position this year and is not ready to understand the schemes.
Herring-lots of heart, semi-talent, but he is all we have.
I think we have like four linebackers signed, i say we sign 8 just to be sure.
Ark. threw right across our middle to exploit our linebackers.
2 or 3 of those pass interference calls against our linebackers were questionable at best.
There you go, let's blame the refs for the loss!
I agree about the linebackers, although if we sign about 5, we should be okay.
I like that approach Michael. Third parties are great for blaming.
Saw this list of players that left early, were kicked off the team, didn't pan out or have been injured and unavailable:
SenDerrick Marks
Jerraud Powers
Aairon Savage
Mike McNeil
Jomarcus Savage
Christian Thompson
Marcus Jemison
Tray Blackmon
Da'Shaun Barnes
Raven Gray
Bo Harris
Andre Wadley
Spencer Pybus
Oh my, Meeeechigan is up on Ioway by 1.
Yea, that list can largely be attributed to bad luck.
Check that. Ioway is up by 9. Man, I need to get my glasses checked.
Jet - Hugh Nall routinely played just 5 lineman on some of our best teams. But I get your point.
Still, I don't think being "thin" on offense had anything to do with the loss today. Defense is a different matter. And we don't have enough depth to have many experienced players on special teams. On the KO return that killed us after we had rallied, we had players in position to make the tackle; they just couldn't do it.
Beat KY, and we can still have a very good year. But its very difficult for me to imagine a way right now that our team could beat bammer. Maybe I'll think of a way before Thanksgiving. ;)
ESPN says Iowa is up 9??
Defensive Line-
I know Coleman has a hurt hand, but thats two games with no pass rush. A good quarterback with that much time is problems. Fairley, only saw him once and that was limping off the field.
Paging Zach Clayton anyone?
Dee Ford, isnt he a pass rush specialist?
I think blitzes are illegal in Roofs system, lol.
Ricks, Goggans,
Michael...that's it...Sensi's fault.
All the players read the HABOTN and they lost their swagger because Sensi picked us to lose.
I make a motion for Sensi to be banned from further prognostications...well unless he picks us to win....well... then if we don't let him pick one week the players will know that he really picked us to lose. I guess we'll have to prohibit the player's connecting to the HABOTN.
This is not for the faint of heart.
sorry, little late
Kathy,
That list is more than enough,
I am so sucking at the pick em this week
If Iowa wins this one, we should declare them national champs right here and now.
Tim Tebow is awesome.
I stunk this pickem up bad. I even changed my first pick so I would loose that one too. Man, how pathetic.
Tebow is being named the Head Coach in Waiting at Florida after the season. He will take over in 20 years when Meyer retires... two years ahead of Jimbo taking over the Noles.
Kathy....those are all defensive players on that list and for various reasons.
I hate the Tebow hype, but love Tebow. The hype isn't his fault. Tebow is as good as it gets.
People are fawning over bama, I agree bama is much better than last year, but as Ric Flair says "you got to beat the man to be the man", the road goes through Florida to the national championship, they havent been winning on style points, just winning none the less.
ABC is showing the Michigan/Iowa game now.
Good point PDWT. Florida won't roll over and play dead in ATL.
At least Jay got to visit with his peeps.
Shaping up to be a great week -
Tues - Ark St v La Mon
Wed - No.6 Boise St v Tulsa
Thurs - No.8 Cincy v No. 23 S Fl
Fri - Pitt v Rutgers
Sat - The rest
A couple of Auburn coaches were reportedly in attendance at Little Rock Christian's game against Hot Springs, as one of the Tigers' top recruiting targets, Little Rock Christian running back Michael Dyer, rambled for 323 yards and four touchdowns in a 35-0 victory.
Today, Dyer and teammate Dakota Mosley, a tight end who is also being recruited by Auburn, are among the prospects on hand at Razorback Stadium for the Auburn-Arkansas game.
Do you think the loss will turn them off from Auburn or make them realize how much we need them?
323 yards rushing ain't bad. I will take it.
Iowa wins
Iowa still undefeated.
I still think Dyer is Auburn's to lose.
IN the famous words of Coach Farmer Fran: Wehlihtuplayanudahdeh.
Winning is fun, losing sucks.
War Eagle kids!
First time in a long time I have seen 2 fumbles on the same play. Very sloppy GT - FSU game.
A couple of quit tidbits I gleaned from watching the game a second time through:
Anything and everything that could go wrong in the 2nd quarter did. Starting with the following:
-Down 6, Auburn offense goes 3 and out.
-Defense gives up a TD drive.
-Ensuing kickoff, freak strip of Fannin ARK ball.
-Defense gives up TD on the short field.
-Ensuing drive, CT misses open target on 3rd and 5, FG is good.
-Auburn gives up a huge return.
-Ark starts to drive, defense gets an INT.
-Offense flips the field but stalls.
-Defense gives up a TD drive. That's how you get to 27-3 at the half.
This is just a summation of how we melted down in all three phases today.
I think we'll be good going forward, we just need to make sure Murphy doesn't get his press pass anymore. Must be a daylight thing.
Good morning, Hotties! The sky is still blue and the sun is still orange and it is still great to be an AUBURN TIGER!!!

Callme old school but it has kept me up all night...
ALways defer the kickoff... take the ball to start the 2nd half...
I am proud of the way kept it up.. last year they woud have quit...
The Ioway folks are going to send more mail to JGT
Good morning all.
Does anyone know what Dyer said after the game?
The real rec. season in in Jan... everything before then is fluff...
DL - I realize, I was just interested in what he said. Verbal to me is great but means nothing. You don't have a sale until you get the Purchase Order in your hand.
AU1N04 - spoken like a true slaesperson....
Hope is not a strategy..
=0)
salesperson... typo
Ha, thank ya!!
It's all about the fundamentals.
Hey Hotties!!!! Keep your chins up. This team is still way above expectations at this point. I'm excited about what the future holds. We may not finish strongly, but this staff has it moving in the right direction. Would you rather be Auburn or Georgia today????
I'm just glad we're not Buffalo
or FSU. Its unfortunate that its been turned into a circus down there. I felt like we had that kind of craziness at Auburn last year, and I know the fans are not enjoying their season one bit. Even with the BYU beatdown.
I guess my let down is not so much the loss... we all new it was coming one day.. but the sloppy play... I look to our coaches to that one.. they should have not put the Kids in that position..
I would rather a loss where we played to somewhere near our potential..
This was 100% lack of coaching and prep. As one of the writers in AL put it... we were outcoached.
War Eagle!!!
Eddie ...
That's a great point in re Georgia.
OK, kids, I'm @ the airport getting ready to leave FayetteNam. Really nice folks before, during and after game. Catch the HOT FOLKS later.
Perhaps it was the combination of the two, being outcoached, and outplayed. Gotta catch, throw, and hold on to the ball, don't commit the stupid penalties (we can't do anything about stupid refs), and tackle. But the coaches also have to put the kids in the right mindset, and position to do that. I'm like you DL if the effort were there for the full game, and we just got beat by the better team I think I could feel alittle better. I still don't feel they are on the whole when both teams are playing to their potential, the better team.
The "they" at the end of my note meaning Arky, in case that wasn't understood
I was talking to a buddy of mine, who played for Arky, after the circus. He could not even give me any SH*&.. He even wished it was a game and said we beat ourselves..
I retract what I stated yesterday about the defense being exposed.
It was exposed weeks ago. Arkansas exploited it better than previous opponents.
Can we duct tape this mess together before Kentucky?
Sensi, our defense was on the field WAY too long yesterday. They had to defend the short field too many times. It is just one out of the three phases that sucked yesterday. It's hard to expose something you already know isn't a strong point of the team. It's a thin unit and our linebacker play is killing us. We all knew this coming into the season.
Sensi, I think the defense and special teams(other than Byrum) have shown that they probably are not going to get much(if any) better this season. If the offense is not hitting on all cylinders, Auburn is going to struggle to beat most anyone.
I don't think Chizik and Co want to play this way, but player limitations have left them little choice. I don't see much improvement coming until some reinforcements arrive next season.
We were poorly prepared. No way around that.
Hopefully this week, everyone handles their business.
Kentucky is no top tier opponent, but if we execute like that again on Saturday, they will look like it.
Sensi, I think coming back home and playing without the noise on offense will make all the difference in the world. And if our offense is clicking, we won't lose.
Based on that formula, we have two wins left on the schedule because we have three home games remaining and in one of those it won't matter.
"A source close to the University of Kentucky football team tells WHAS11 that quarterback Mike Hartline will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury"
http://www.whas11.com/topstories/stories/091011_sportsHartlineout.206c9d88d.html
Back from Fayettenam. It was a tough experience but there are plenty of building blocks going forward. I have a good feeling that we may see a better TEAM effort next week. My football coaches always told me that you learn more in defeat than in victory.
Sensi, I like you but you can't count. We actually have 4 home games left (UK, UM, Furman, UAT). I think they need a new road strategy when it comes to offense, I think the slow checks at the LOS are killing us. We will need to change it up when we go to UGA and LSU. UGA is a 3-3 team which is lucky to be 3-3. LSU is not very good on offense. The sky is not falling.
I had to miss the second half but apparently didn't miss much. So many things went wrong from the very begining that it is impossible to point to any one or ten things. We will now find out how good our coaches are and how resilient the players are. Do they still believe in this staff? I think so and will show improvement against KY
From atl ... Arkansas is a very difficult matchup for auburn. Alabama and Arkansas ar the two worst. The other offenses operate in a slower manner. Keep that in mind.
The three WORST things from Saturday:
The Fannin Strip after going down 13-0.
Not getting into the end zone after being down 20-0.
Fumbling on the 5 yard line.
Each one of those things was a mo' killer for us and led to 7 on the ensuing drive from Arkansas. There are your 21 points.
I don't think "poor preparation" was the reason we lost.
Invariably, one team has an emotional edge coming into a game. Arkansas had not won a league game at home under Petrino, and Tuberville adds a little gas with his comments.
Under those circumstances, it requires increased execution. We didn't have it. We shot ourselves in the foot on all sides of the ball. We surrendered six first downs by penalty. We overthrew a sure TD, we fumbled a kickoff, and laid the ball down untouched at the goal line. I'm still trying to figure out how that guy got loose on the 70 yard return.
The loss is not on anybody -- staff, specific player, etc. It's on everybody.
It is hard to understand but when things start going wrong it's like a snowball rolling down hill it gains momentum and size and just snows you under.
I side with jet here. I don't think preparation is to blame. Coaches can't control fumbles. They can only do so much for penalties. Teams lose. It happens.
WOW, just WOW. Too many in here thinkt he sky is falling. Ark epxloited our weakness. Their DE's pinched in almost every play. The offense responded in the 3rd quarter and Tate starts to roll. Notice it was the same play to either side of the field, and he got LOTS of yardage from it.
After all the crap that happened in the 1st half, AU still had a very good chance untilthelas tplay of the 3rd quarter. That KO return killed the momentum ;cause you knew Ark would get some points. And they did.
Have we all spent enough time marinating in the loss...can we turn our focus to UK?
Jay, my question to Malzahn would be why we have went away from having someone in motion. Early in the season it seemed there was always someone in motion. The last two games, we have kind of gone away from that.
As for blaming, it is pretty pointless. We have a good team. We knew from the start it wasn't going to be great due to depth issues. It does seem the team is starting to get tired. We experienced a similar thing about this time last season.
Someone earlier asked about Michael Dyer's comments after the game.
I will not post the quotes, but he stated AU is easily his #1 team. He says other thngs also, but uses words 'we didn't take care of the ball, we got off to a slow start.'
This staff feels great about getting him and Seastunk (possibly already a silent commit) but enough about recruiting. Let
s beaat KY and get back on track.
Look how many of us went from, I hope we win 6 games, to we can go 11-1 or something. Not just on this blog but your AU friends. The first goal was too low and the second too high. If we are honest, we can see the D will struggle all year. FWIW-I thought Roof would blitz and pressure Mallet all night. They obviously have a reason for why they didn't. When they tell me, I will let you guys know.
Sensi.."poorly prepared" is a generalized cliche right out of The Bear Bryant Show that Bear used to do his famous "it's all my fault" act.
I don't buy large generalizations. List the specific items and who you think is at fault and we'll discuss those point by point.
Every team has a bad game. AU will have more bad games this year, but every game won't be bad. We were picked 6-7 wins in the preseason. We are on track to do that and could very well do better.
What gets me is that you know this team, therefore you should know better than to make that kind of broad statement.
Can we get to 400? I think so.
400?
