Let the watching begin

Hey everyone. Hope you're having a great SUMMER SOLSTICE. It's the longest day of the year, so make the most of it!

I'm just here to pass along some information about two Auburn football players.

Linebacker Craig Stevens and offensive tackle Lee Ziemba have been named to award watch lists. It's a rite of passage for college seniors. These two players are, in my opinion, deserving.

Stevens has caught the attention of people who administrate the Nagurski Trophy. The senior-to-be was credited with 90 tackles last season. He also was one of the four players who participated in all 115 snaps of the Outback Bowl. They don't come tougher than that.

Ziemba is up for the Outland Trophy, which goes to the nation's top lineman -- on offense or defense. The Arkansas native is tall, strong, durable and generally good. What else can I say?

Neville must wear tight shorts to hit those high notes. It just seems sorta strange for a man of his girth to sing like that for some reason.

Is it a sin to use leftover USDA Prime Ribeyes in tacos? I'm thinking about doing it as Taco Tuesday dinner. They were great when cooked originally, but I'm sure have dried out a little in the 'fridge.

PF, your friend will not be disappointed. Throw that plunger away and get set for 3000 horsepower of flushing power. (I have no idea how one measures flushing power, but I figured horsepower was as good as anything, so I'm going for it, and I'm hoping no one will call me on it.)

And yes, it is a sin to do such a thing to a ribeye. I believe it may be in Proverbs.

4:04 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I don't get around in the old testament like in my younger days, but it seems that using "leftover" ribeyes aren't a sin. That may in Leviticus or wherever all the Jewish Law dos and don'ts are listed.

I always counted on the Hotties to know everything about everything. But, about Aaron Neville, I'm sorry, you are perfectly wrong.

Arizona State is having one of the worst times a National #1 seed ever has. Clemson killed them (the 6-3 final is closer than the game really was), and they're currently getting blown out 10-0 in the bottom of the third by South Carolina. Yikes.

I would like to thank them for waking Auburn up this season. AU had their chances in that series, but lose 3 games to none. After that, they were money (until the postseason...guess they needed another wake-up).

Kathy - thanks for that timely article. I was just thinking about Scott yesterday. In this day and age when players are always trying to show who's the dominant one (e.g. a player jumping up from the bottom of a pile as if the tackle didn't phase him one bit), I was extremely impressed with Rodney Scott's awareness and smarts in that situation. Any herky-jerky movement on his part could have been devastating. I know nothing about him, but I have great admiration for him just from that one play.

I have insurance so they just replaced it.

One of the craziest tennis ever is taking place at Wimbledon right now. They don't have fifth set tiebreakers at the All England Club, so you have to break serve to win in the fifth.

Well, Georgia Bulldog John Isner and Nicolas Mahut are on serve in the fifth set, where the score is 35-34. As in games. They're on their 70th game of the set. They've played the equivalent of six sets in the fifth set alone.

I just ESPN gamecast up the whole time and waited ever more anxiously minute by minute for something good to happen.

I did record the game, however, and will be watching just as soon as I get home. Luckily, the next game is on Saturday, meaning there's no chance in Hell I'll be missing it.

I really have no preference. I know everyone wants to avoid Germany, but I don't care. As long as we're in the next round, I'm happy. If it's Germany, maybe we can get some revenge for 2002 and another blown call by a ref.

5.Transferring from Auburn HS back to GA.

WTC,

He got a four star rating just because Alabama may have actually breathed something that sounded like his name, thus he gets a four star.

If Auburn was to like him and offer him, then if he went on to get 25 sacks this year, he would then get 3 star rating.

guys like fanning are like not taking the big russian guy #1 in the nba draft. you just can't take the chance you passed on him and he pans out. if he's a dud, he's likely gone in 2 years for some off field issue anyway.

I love Wimbledon's tradition. I was very upset when the rest of the world went all sissified and instituted a fifth set tiebreaker. I wish I could have been there to watch today.

Prettiest Girls in the SEC.

With due acknowledgement to our female hotties, I recognize that this is a male dominated blog. So to help divert the pain of time that is the month prior to media days, I’ve come up with my list for prettiest girls in SEC. This list is my opinion; you may have your own. Based primarily on my first hand observations while visiting the 12 member institution we call the SEC, here are the campuses in order.

1 – Auburn. I went to Auburn. Need I say more?

2- Florida. With their year round tans, fun loving easy going ways, warm weather and skimpy outfits, what’s not to like about a Gator Girl? Note to Gators; be grateful FSU is not in the conference or you’d get bumped down a spot.

3 – Ole Miss. Their sorority girls, cheerleaders, and lists of Miss America’s are legendary. The everyday girl in calculus is not too shabby either.

4- Mississippi State. I know – right? Somebody just coughed up lunch, but I am serious here. While any school can have a flash in the pan ‘good recruiting year’, Mississippi State brings it every year even though they fly under the radar. Don’t ask me where they come from because I don’t know, but they are certainly there. I’d make an argument to swap them with #3 above, but I’m sure that I’d lose that argument.

5 – Alabama. Give credit where credit is due. There is plenty of talent in Tuscaloosa. To deny its existence serves no purpose. Long legs and dark tans combined with blond hair and that “I’m just here for the experience” line have swooned many unsuspecting males.

6 – Kentucky. Consistently above average. Besides when you attend an Auburn game on their campus, the dance team comes up to flirt with you even though you are wearing Auburn colors. The cheerleaders are consistently top 5 every year.

8 – LSU. A bunch of girls away from home for the first time at a school renown for its drinking and parting ways. If someone wants to make the argument that drinking and partying don’t equate to ‘pretty’, I get it. However not to make anyone angry, but I also note that LSU has a high Catholic population, somewhat adding to their allure.

9 – Georgia. Much like their football team, they underachieve despite their built in recruiting base. Many hot spots around campus, but much like my lawn, many dead spots as well.

10 – Tennessee. See notes for Georgia above. Tennessee is just more Georgia than Georgia is. I will admit that Tennessee tries harder ( note the traveling Orange Pride girls going to football recruits HS games ) than Georgia, but you can’t always make up for a lack of talent with greater effort.

10 – Vandy. Yes I know that the girls there are smart. It does count for something, just not anything on my pretties girls in the SEC list. While elsewhere in the SEC the girls are applying their moisturizer before bedtime, at Vandy they are calculating the 2nd derivative of an equation just because they can.

11 – USCe. Downtown campus in the State Capital. The formula works in Tallahassee and to a lesser extent in Baton Rouge, but not in Columbia. Can’t be the region as their in-state ACC foe gets plenty of talent. They have an occasional splash, but not a consistent producer of talent.

12 – Arkansas. Are these guys still in the conference? Extremely disappointing that these girls even represent. I can’t be nice to everybody, and somebody has to be last. I would say it’s Arkansas’s turn, but they seem to perennially occupy this position, in this category at least. Cross Country track anyone?

API - that's an impressive body of research you've done. I've never been to a game in Gainesville, Oxford, or Starkville.

Does this mean Auburn's Math Department ranking is gonna go down?

With regard to the iPhone and Verizon, I have read it will happen by end of year.

I have also heard the iPhone will come to Sprint in the first half of 2011.

TCU gets 8 in the 8th, including a monster grand slam over CF and a 2 run dong to left. They were down 7-2 after 6, now lead 11-7 going to bottom of 8th.

Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

FSU has 5 errors, btw.

JaSteve - I have read the same thing. I've also read that the 5 yr AT&T exclusive ends in 2012 and is pretty iron tight.

9:27 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

wow, FSU now has tying run at plate in 8th with 1 out.

I think both pitching staffs are spent.

THT, I'm with you 100%.

Someone sent me a list of "Chuck Norris Facts" long ago and it still rings true today:

Chuck Norris is not hung like a horse. Horses are hung like Chuck Norris.

The Virgin Islands were the Virgin Islands until Chuck Norris visited and now they are just "the islands"."

Chuck Norris sold his soul to the devil for his rugged good looks
and unparalleled martial arts ability. Shortly after the
transaction was finalized, Chuck roundhouse-kicked the devil in the
face and took his soul back. The devil, who appreciates irony, couldn't stay mad and admitted he should have seen it coming. They now play poker every second Wednesday of the month.
