Getting Our Bearings
I am hopeful that Brian Woodham, who recently left a part-time gig with ITAT to take a full-time job as a copy editor at the Advertiser, will be given an opportunity to take my old job. Brian would be a great addition. I'll let you know if I hear anything about that.
As I explained on Facebook, we will have a board at AuburnSports.com with a stricter standard when it comes to cussing and any off-putting shenanigans. Personally, I'm good with the Bunker and have read it for a long time. They get a little upset when things don't go well, which is understandable, but I feel like that board's reputation for savage commentary far exceeds reality.
With that said, we will have a HABOTN-esque board over there for people whose tolerance for cussing is at zero. Just want to make that clear.
I'll be starting at AuburnSports.com on Monday.
Take care, errybody. Thanks as always for your support!

"covered" is a bit over the top, but yes, there was occasionally rooster poop. I used that rooster poop to power my minibike.
Well how in the world did you do that?
The hardest part was finding enough dung beetles to roll the poop into hard little balls. After chipping off small bits to give the beetles as a reward for their hard work, I threw the pellets into a methane digester and voila! my minibike was at full speed.
you are the macgyver of dung beetles.
Something about this minibike story doesn't smell quite right. I suspect THT was not as generous to the dung beetles as he claims.
The best way to keep good dung beetles is to reward them appropriately. It's just good business sense. But you're right about the smell.
wow. i've been walking around all day with my pants unzipped. good thing i work from home.
walking around until 8:53 a.m. hardly qualifies as "all day"
I think what Norm meant to say was,
"I work from home, it's almost 9 o'clock, I guess I should get out of bed and get dressed and not forget to zip my pants."
His work day is from 8:00-9:00 am, so it was pretty much "all day" in that respect.
Why did I live so long? I'll tell you why...because I'm a dancer!
I'm not buying Norm's story. I've never seen a pair of sweat pants with a zipper.
I can find you a pair of sweatpants with a zipper. there are ways, dude.
straight out of a Eurasian sweat shop, complete with sweat from the sweater's brow on the sweatpants. I'm getting sweaty just thinking about it. Of course, the zippers are at the bottom of the sweatpant legs, so I'm not sure why Norm's all bent out of shape about it. Take a chill pill, Norm. You know, the same kind Michael gives his sweatshop workers to keep them from autocombusting.
I used to own a sweatshop. Things did alright until they started taxing bottles using anything other than the royal units of measurement (we were in Eurasia). The problem was that the units constantly changed, but they fine you if you're not in compliance ... no matter what you did or didn't do, you were never in compliance.
Before that, though, things sold like hot cakes. Had a bunch of little people eating onions and garlic then going into the sauna. They'd be in there for hours just filling up the troughs with sweat. Most people bought it to add to the Eurasian national dish. On holidays we really cleaned up.
Good times.

You know, I used to flip quite a few pages back in my day. Some say I was even better at flipping than Norm. But he kind of made it his identity, which is fine.
Michael=John Fitch
Norm=Robert Fulton
______
There are still a lot of ostriches roaming Eurasia that need jobs. Too bad birds don't sweat. I suppose that's good news for bubbs's little people.
bubbs, quit whining about the units of measurement changing. Do you know how hard it is to standardize things? Especially when you put the Man with the Purple Beard in charge, and he decided all measurements should be a function of the moon phase, loccation of the constellation Orion, and Miley Cyrus's hair length. Yes it's complicated, but their must be standards or WE ARE NOTHING BUT SAVAGES! (well, as I've stated before, it's really ballroom dancing that separates us from the savages, but I am speaking hyperbolically for effect here)
I must be a savage because I just realized I don't know what time the NHL game is today. I don't know if I've already missed it. I'm just not civilized. At. All.
Anything less would be uncivilized.
Can't wait for the Campfiya tonight!
plenty of hockey talk, no doubt! And the embers, oh my, how I love the embers.
I missed all y'all at the campfire last night. It was really blazin'!

I like how that last Beasley trails off a little. It's clear that THT was out of breath from yelling BEASLEY!!!
I've missed a couple and just couldn't wait for the next one, so I was just trying to be mathematically accurate.
I never tire of BEASLEY!!!
(Condolences to those who wish that I did)
I think Sara is the only one that has an issue with your yelling.
yeh, that Sara, we'r fire and ice

sorry for yelling. I just got a bit too emotional.
That sure was some campfire back awhile ago, wasn't it?
Maybe if we have another campfire, the heat will draw everyone out. This place gets so quiet during the frozen months.
Heat? Didn't they lose at home last night? Musta had a problem with all that functioning air conditioning.
Whatever. It's basketball and I don't care.
I concur. I really really REALLY want the Spurs to win another championship, but I still don't care to watch.
HEADS UP, THT!!!!

As a small child, I wandered over there that night and ate up all this glow-rock candy I found on the ground. It was soooo good.
THT, I just finished the Chuck series finale on Netflix last night... And I HATED how it ended. What the heck? I'm still annoyed today.
I miss Col. Casey.
never watched Chuck.
I miss Col. Hogan.
and Col. Braddock
But not Col. Mustard. Never trusted that guy.
in 73 days, I will be in the Loveliest Village. Someone order up a record cold spell, please.
One "Ziemba" coming up. Now, it's not my fault if that cold snap shows up early and then you're penalized.
You can penalize me all the way out the back of the end zone as long as I get me some cold weather. Speaking of weather, I better go close the car windows. Downpour looks imminent.
You were just asking for someone to cast spells of cold, THT. I don't think you're a weather wizard that can predict future precipitation, like that. Leave it to the professionals.
BTW - You should roll up your windows; it's about to rain.
bubbs, I was actually watching the "red blob" approaching my location via the marvels of the world wide web. Windows up just in time.
Norm, you'll find an article on Hursey's Barbecue in the July issue of Our State magazine. The print version arrived yesterday. I'll try to remind you when the internet edition is available.
I enjoyed that place. It ate good.
I haven't had any 'cue in a couple of weeks. I may need some Zoloft to cope if I don't get some 'cue soon.
Is this what you're looking for, THT?
The Q episodes were fantastic. My favorite was Deja Q, which somehow only managed a 3rd place finish on this list
New thread up.
I don't think so, bubbs.
I've tolerated an odd post number here long enough.
goat gland surgery to cure Norm
This guy had to be Michael's grandfather. Now we know what's really going on in Idaho on his goat farm
There ain't no cure for what ail's me.
That goes without saying.
if an Irony Day Celebration can't cure you, nothing can, not even goat glands.
HAPPY IRONY DAY!!!
Googling for Irony Day history and ran across this thread. Good times were had by all back in the day.

That was a nice blast from the past.
Yeah. Well.
Happy Irony Day to you suckas, too.
Happy Irony Day! Hopefully the Irony Gnome made all of your lives sufficiently miserable with his visit.
I'd say it's certainly sufficient.
I don't like being forced to walk to Nome with an incomplete set of golf clubs only to find the golf course has already melted. That Irony Gnome is gonna pay.
As well he should.
THT,
It's National ICE CREAM day!! I know you'll do me proud. I'm off to get some Graeter's!
Sure have missed you. Lots going on it our family. Need to catch up soon.
Hey Cincy! I'm eating a carton of Blue Bell Chocolate Chip right this very minute. Mmmmmmmmm.
3700! I'm pretty sure this is a new Hv1.0 record. We're halfway to the next page flip!
and with one quick keystroke today by someone at the MA,
Hv2.0 never even existed.
Why can't things just stay the same?

Auburn's Nick Marshall lands on Colorado Weed Growers mailing list.
I feel like a little bit of my soul has been taken away.
Considering the minuscule amount of soul you had to start with, that should be of great concern for you.
Forget Norm's soul (ok, not really), just think of Leff's loss of self-esteem.
No kidding! I'm certain he read that thread at least once a month.
Let there be no confusion over the matter. MrsTHT would still be the greatest wife in the world even if she did not peel and slice peaches for me every day.
But what about his super-tractiony feet? Do they still work as intended?
All these years I've wished AU and ND would play. Not any more.
I'd be supportive of better quality non-con games in a Home-Home arrangement. Absolutely.

all 1 of you who reads this today, stop by the BIG SALE at the BuyMore Central today. I'll be here to midnight and beyond stocking shelves for all the shoplifters.
and for the one wondering, that's not days til kickoff and number of points AU will score, but days til kickoff and number of posts til the next page flip, now 78.
I put Rain-X on my windshield in early June. Our grass almost died. We finally got a nice soaking rain today, 7 weeks later.
We had a 60 year old customer today named E-Bro. I didn't go speak to him. I was afraid he might start spewing liberalese all over the place. My stomach is too weak to handle that.
Ain't nobody got time fo dat!
I debated with myself whether or not to share this here. Eventually, I won the debate. Conversely, I also lost the debate. Either way, I felt that THT would like to read this:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:CMsAtPLXy2oJ:http://www.auburnauthority.com/forum/index.php?action%3Dprintpage;topic%3D4572.0%2B%22leff+turns%22&safe=active&gws_rd=ssl&hl=en&&ct=clnk
Sadly, I can't remember how to properly add a link within these here confines but I trust he'll know what to do.
I think you need to keep track of days till kick off over here, THT.
BTW- do you have a map message board that you haunt or anything? Just curious, now that the plug is pulled on 2.0.
bubbs, no such board
Norm, I'm glad you won the debate. That was awesome stuff.

took me a while to find this 2009 post...
Good morning ladies and gents. Rise and shine.
T-minus 37 days til kickoff!
HAPPY JOHN VAUGHN & TERRY DANIEL DAY!!!
JV is Auburn's all-time leading scorer and, save one game on the bayou, was a very accurate kicker. Terry Daniel actually wore #36, but his helium-inflated footballs floated him up to 37.
WARRRR EAGLE!!!
GO TIGERS!!!

We should make a maps board.
Who's up for 36?
I think I just went through a wormhole.
36 days until kickoff
Today's HABOTN Kickoff Kountdown is dedicated to the memory of Greg Pratt.
A native of Albany, GA, Greg was a walk-on transfer from Tennessee State(?); he was slated to be our starting fullback in 1983. Tragically, he died at age 20 on August 20, 1983, after running a series of 440 yd sprints. Shortly before losing consciousness, he told a teammate to tell his mother that he was going to be alright; he was quoting the Lord's Prayer and Psalm 23.
War Eagle, Angel Greg!
Loved the countdown posts. THT is a HABOTN legend.
And awesome Campfiyah last night.
If only bubbs had thought of a Hv1.0 kickoff countdown, then maybe he wouldn't be so bitter towards all of us ROFers.
ok, Mahelic, i'll confess, you're going to make me look when I get out of prison today. My guess is, not. Funny, though, cause earlier today I was upset that I had forgotten last night to go.
to the campfire, that is.
Man, Norm really screwed that page flip up.
maybe there's a product he can take for his ppf.
i suspect news of Texas misspelling their name in their football media guide has found its way to AUFC, but this is too funny. There's even a twitter account for the misspelling

They're obviously are starting football season earlier these days. The following post was from August 2009, but it is now applicable in July.
T-minus 35 days til kickoff!
HAPPY JOE CHILDRESS DAY!!!
Mr. Childress was a 2-time All-SEC fullback in '54 and '55. He was ALL-AMERICAN in 1955 and 7th overall pick in the 1st round of the 1956 NFL draft. He spent his entire 10 year NFL career with the Chicago/St. Louis Cardinals. His best college game was in 1954 when he had 164 yds rushing in leading Auburn to an upset win over 5th ranked Miami. Mr. Childress passed away at age 53 after a valiant fight against cancer.
The floor is now open for shout-outs to your fav 35s!
WARRRRRR EAGLE!!!
GO TIGERS!!!

I wasted an are that I might need in the future.

The Beetles killed George Harrison tree
Bo knows there are just 34 days til kickoff
Go Tigers!
WARRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!
HAPPY WALTER GILBERT DAY!!!
T-minus 33 days til kickoff.
Today's choice was just as easy as yesterday's. Walter Gilbert is still Auburn's only 3-time ALL-AMERICAN. Shug Jordan referred to the Fairfield, AL, native as "possibly the greatest linebacker-center in the history of Southern football." Two days after graduating from Auburn in 1937, Mr. Gilbert went to work for Texaco. By the time he retired in 1977, Mr. Gilbert was Vice-President in charge of international operations, and head of Texaco's European operations. He took a break from his Texaco job to serve in the Army during World War II, achieving the rank of Major in field artillery. Mr. Gilbert was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1956. In 1981, Auburn University created the Walter Gilbert Award. The award is presented each year to a former Auburn athlete who has demonstrated excellence in their chosen field for 20 or more years. A list of former recipients of the Walter Gilbert Award can be found at this web site
As an example of his footbal prowess, the following quote was lifted from the College Football Hall of Fame web site:
During the 1936 season, Gilbert played the entire game in six consecutive contests. After the Louisiana State game, Sports Editor Bill Blake wrote, "LSU put two men on Gilbert for 60 minutes and he took a terrific pounding, but he never stopped charging through to nail the ball-carrier. Our personal statistics had Gilbert with half the tackles as well as intercepting two enemy passes. There is none who can equal the Auburn center."

WARRRRRR EAGLE!!!
GO TIGERS!!!

Starting tomorrow, JayG gave each one its own thread
oops, forgot to add a link to the list of former recipients of the Walter Gilbert Award
Art, blows in and out of here every 15 minutes. It's not illegal to comment, you know.
Hello Skopje, Macedonia!
Surely that must be one of 2.0's friends ;-)
Are you really complaining that Art isn't commenting enough?
I sure hope we have the same weather on Aug 30 as we are having in Alabama today.
I'm fine with Art staying on the sidelines.
I won't be around for the first game... so I say let em burn! Advantage Auburn in that situation.
Bench Art???
I don't care for Art's play or his behavior before, during and after the A-Day game. So yeah, he absolutely should be benched.
I may play ball this fall but I ain't never signing that! Now me and my loser friends, bubbs and Michael, are off to score some Barry Manilow tickets. Top priority of the summer ya know
for you folks who do yard work:
Progressive type forms of multi-functional backyard operate boot footwear meet up with types of requirements associated with fantastic out-of-doors leisure time everyday life.
Yep, that's the claim on the Nike Air Max. Get yours now!
What's wrong with the feet God gave ya? They walk good don't they?
Depends on how traction-y they are.
Mine aren't Leff quality, granted, but they get me around mighty fine.
Sorry, trying to figure out sign in. Mr. Cincy is making me change all passwords. Yuck!
It's not uncommon for me to do my yardwork barefoot. So I don't need no high-dollar Nike footwear.
How many toes you got left, Norm?
And of those toes, Norm, how much webbing remains?
all we have are the embers...
but at least we got embers. That's better than being toeless.
I have all the appendages the Good Lord gave me. That's all you need to know.
how's your uvula?
I didn't know Norm played an instrument.
Alright, enough of this birds and the bees talk. This is a family blog.
Michael has no uvula.
so which one or two or three of y'all will I see at Cincytiger's in a couple of weeks?
Not me ... Well, I don't think I'll be there. Stranger things have transpired in less time.
I bet you'll see Cincy and Norm. But I don't really know for sure about Norm.
Nebraska AD gives coach Bo Pelini a vote of confidence
I believe that significantly raises the probability that Nebraska will be in need of an interim HC to complete the season.
It's 81 degrees with absurd humidity of 38%. Yes, THIRTY-EIGHT percent. I thought I stepped through a worm hole to Laramie when I stuck my head out the door. Why am I stuck indoors, and why do I have to go to a meeting tonight? :(
You got a uvula. I got a uvula. All God's children got a uvula.
It'll behoove ya, to take care of your uvula.
Best of Montgomery

Bart Starr, QB 337 25.69%
Terry Beasley WR170 12.96%

Seriously, Gumpians?
BEASLEY!!! undoubtedly received 100% of the intelligent vote. Those results aren't flattering for the overall IQ of the Gump.
THT, I want some of that weather at our game in two weeks. Could you arrange that!
Tell Mrs. THT we have another year behind us to celebrate!
So, uhm, yeah.
Norm, be there or be rectangular as someone used to say.
Is this place still sane? Cause AUFC is getting their panties all in a wad!
I blaming art for the FC melt downs. It stands to reason.
I refuse to be sane.
Pinocchio or Maurice Clarett. Who's the better motivational speaker?
You know what's insane? I had to actually stop and think how many days it is until kickoff. I know it ain't many. Better yet, only 4 work days between now and kickoff.
Cincy said "panties", HAHAHAHAHAHA!
I still haven't figured out how I'm gonna watch games ... I probably need to start working on a plan.
Guess what time it is, boys and girls?
That's right! It's time for...

Is Jeremy Johnson offering any other guarantees beyond that Marshall wins the Heisman?
I think Braxton Miller winning the Heisman this year is equally probable.
Why do you hate Auburn so much, THT?
I only hate ua-t. A lot. A whole lot. MrsTHT and LB are the only two people I know who can generate more hate for ua-t than I can.
Guess what?! We're in SINGLE DIGIT MODE!
y'all missed a spectacular preseason campfire
What do Auburn, Sam Houston State, Tyler Jr College, and aTm-Commerce have in common?
aTm-Commerce doesn't have any games on their schedule east of the Republic of Texas. I smell a long road trip in Eddie's future.
Last chance... ALL ABOARD!!!
Tell Mrs. THT thank you, thank you! I went to this gift shop to find her a little happy for her birthday and I found me the PERFECT birthday present!! Can't wait to open it on Saturday and hang it in the condo! So glad she is having a birthday! :)
Hey come on, come on take a ride.
We need a ruling, THT. Can BBQ have cheese on/in it and still be considered BBQ?
well, bubbs, I suppose it's still barbecue underneath, but the perpetrator should spend the rest of their life here
I'm not gonna say who, but someone missed the 37BEASLEY!!! Someone.
Just read the wikipedia entry for Bouvet Island.
Interesting.
The combining of BBQ and cheese is a travesty. I like beer. I like ice cream too. But I ain't ever considering combining the two.
So I got this "FitBit" thingamajig the other day. For some reason, my company is big about us being healthy. Interesting how it counts everything and makes me realize that I have some very sloth-like coworkers the way they complain about not being able to rack up activity points.
A Chik-fil-A sandwich purchased on Monday and reheated on Tuesday is just not as good as if it'd been eaten on Monday. Not bad, just an obvious difference.
FIRST!
hey, how bout that.
BOOM?
I go play miniature golf and next thing ya know, we're on a new page!
Michael - I became aware I was missing it about halfway through typing my post. I hate backtracking. Plus, I didn't want someone to erroneously deduce that it was a multiplication equation, as in xy=z.
Norm - CFA chicky biscuits are heavenly. They used to have good chickysalad sammiches, but they changed the recipe and messed it up. If it's too late for a chicky biscuit, I prefer BurgerDoodle.
Art -thanks for staying on the sideline for that one.
This cracked me up when I just read it:

get your tickets now for the Zeke Pike Express! This is a real train ride...none of that Rollison Express nonsense.
All aboard!
6:05 PM
The next time an Express rolls through - I'm officially walking.
I have a lot of experience staying on the sideline.
art's a watcher rather than a doer.
but is he a boer?
Campfiyah tonight! I'm proud that I've never missed a campfiyah in my whole life.
less than an hour til SEC football!
YIPPEEE!
Michael, by the time you get there, I'll probably be sound asleep. Hitting the road at 5 a.m. tomorrow so we can have dinner in Auburn.
In the meantime, there's plenty of wood on the fire.
It was so empty. So so empty.
I'll have to hit it earlier next week.
We're in the valley, not to be confused with The Valley, one of my most favorite places. Of course, the valley I'm in right now is a whole lot closer to Auburn, so it gets bonus points for that.
anyone here like Peppa Pig?
When video games deveoloped a button for every finger and toe to control all sorts of stuff, I went from champion video gamer to retard and quit playing video games. I miss Space Invaders and PacMan.
Space Invaders and Asteroids mixed in with the occasional Missile Command.
I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I probably know more about video games than most of the people here.
is that what you call your derriere?

Tonights Campfiyah is gonna be the best EVER!!! We're gonna be partying like it's 2009 up in there!!!
all we have are embers
I was in Virginia without internet on campfiyah night. But I do love me some embers.
Is the audio and video on SEC network bad for everyone, or just TWC customers.
I've had no issue with SEC Network. Must just be you Doc.
I have The Worst Cable service; yes, I have TWC.
I'd like to sic Feng on them.
Why are you getting cable through the Weather Channel? I'm not sure they even provide that service. You know, that might be your problem right there.

mjt might be onto something right there.
THT, you were mentioned specifically by name recently at the other hangout. That's all I'm gonna say about that. Rejoin to find out more.
I just want to tell you good luck. We're all counting on you.
Hey THT. I miss your witty repartee.
Well if he'd partee right the first time, he wouldn't have to do so many repartees to begin with.
