The latest, 10/9
Hey everyone. I'm here in Auburn now preparing for the post-practice scene. Workouts began around 9:15 and are scheduled to conclude around 10:15.
The Tigers generally don't practice long on Thursdays and, apparently, recent events won't change that. If you guessed "Plenty Of Spread" on your Arkansas Prognostication Quiz, you win.
I'll be back with Tuberville reaction when conditions merit.
In the interim, allow me to recall some of the stuff I said on the radio today:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Is Tuberville safe?: Not completely. If this situation decays and the offense doesn't improve, I believe he will be in legitimately hot water.
- How did this happen?: There was a wide chasm between what Franklin espoused and what Auburn has been doing for a long time. Tuberville envisioned an offense like Oklahoma's -- a running attack with spread principles -- but hired a guy who didn't run Oklahoma's offense. That dissonance created a sour situation that finally imploded.
- Whose fault is it?: It ultimately falls in Tuberville's lap. His plans went awry. He tried to make something happen that couldn't happen.
- Who will run the offense now?: We'll find out later this morning.

Thanks for hatin' with us. It's the highlight of our week here in the 'Sip.
Seems to me that it's gonna be tough to hire an offensive coordinator if the past is any guide. Specifically, what OC would want to come to Auburn knowing (a) he can't bring his own people with him; and (b) there's about a 99% chance he'll be undermined by the Charcoal Cosa Nostra?
If the new OC likes the power running game, he'll be right at home.
Is it also a requirement that he likes BBQ and shares the same opinions on all aspects of offensive football as others?
Seriously though, do we get someone midseason or just rough it out until the offseason.
Also, how many more posts until the immortal Lane Kiffin is mentioned by someone?
Two Questions Jay....
1. What are the chances that Auburn already has someone in mind?
2.How quick would Tubs wants to act on a new OC.
Thanks for the fantastic blog, look forward to it all the time. We could use a Auburn beat writer in Atlanta you know.
Thanks for the kind words, atl.
OC? Not right now. They'll probably finish the season with an interim set-up, but I wouldn't rule out a full-time consultant. Not yet, anyway.
Someone in mind? Probably, but that person won't be offically approached for a while. Tuberville will use to back channels to gauge that person's interest long before any legitimate contact is made.
BBQ crew is hilarious......if that is a pre-req they need to get Glenn from Byrons to be the OC.
Any news on who will be the starter this weekend, Todd or Burns?
Todd will start. Burns will play more and more.
What do you mean by "Pleny of Spread"?
Jay, what do you think of the initial firing of Borges? I have friends who swear we would be 2004 all over again if he had stayed, and then there are people like me who weren't all that impressed with his tenure. What's your take now in hindsight?
Campbell, Obomanu, Aromashodu, Taylor, Mix, Williams & Brown vs Burns/Todd, Dunn, Smith, Billings, Slaughter, Lester & Tate.
It wasn't going to be 2004 all over again, Borges or not.
Just my opinion.
Jay, If Tuberville wants to run the Oklahoma offense, why not bring in an offensive assistant from OU. Jay Norvell is an assistant offensive coordinator at OU and has experience at nebraska, UCLA, and Oakland as an OC. It would seem that AU would be a pay raise and he would actually be the OC. Thoughts?
Also:
McNeill, Grubbs, Lindsey, Reddick, Ingle & Wallace vs Ziemba, Green, Pugh, Isom, Bosley & Trott.
Again, no contest no matter who the coach is.
