Saturday update, 10/18
Hey everyone. Thanks for hanging around yesterday despite a relative lack of news. The pace will pick up this week FO SHO as the Barrett Trotter Project enters its most critical stage: Should I Stay or Should I Throw Now?
SYLACAUGA UPDATE: Had a great time taking in the Aggies' 42-13 loss to Briarwood Christian last night. Auburn quarterback/redshirt Barrett Trotter was on hand as well. I'm not going to show pictures of him because Auburn doesn't like us talking with players away from the complex. So we'll pretend like nobody talked to -- or photographed -- Trotter.
Witnesses said he seemed relaxed, but wasn't sure about the Tigers' plans for him this week at West Virginia. My guess is that he plays. He probably fits best with the team's recent shift in offensive strategy.
GETTING SOCIAL: I'd scoop these guys in a heartbeat -- and Lord knows they've flipped me over a few times -- but I like 'em just the same. That's (L to R) me, Jason Caldwell of Inside The Auburn Tigers and Charles Goldberg of the Birmingham News. They grew up in Sylacauga and it's clear they're royalty there. These guys can't walk 50 feet without someone tugging on their jacket to say hello.
Nobody knows me. I like it that way.

"Nobody knows me. I like it that way."
cough
I'm guessing tubs and crew aren't worried about burning the redshirt with their job's on the line. So if he makes us even slightly better I say throw him in there.
I'm not a big hitter in Sylacauga.
Hell, I'm not a big hitter in Montgomery. I'm a phantom; an internetal entity.
Ron: Exactly.
If I throw there will be trouble. If I stay there will be double.

A web based fantasy
A whacked out explosion of sports insanity
Question about the beat writer photo. Did you get close enough for any talent to rub off of them and on you? Perhaps if it did someone would know you one day. Of course I know that isn't your goal. That is why you constantly try to create a story instead of doing your job, which is to report facts.
Mornin' John.
Facts- The human head weighs 8 pounds. Dogs can smell fear. Now you feel better?
1,000 years ago I worked in the newspaper bidnezz. Most of my writer friends seemed to feel that you're pretty good when you have fans, but you're really good when you have haters. They wore the haters like a badge of honor.
Just sayin.
fact - auburn has no offense
fact - footballs are brown
fact - too much beer makes you drunk
anybody else?
Charles and Jason are very talented, no doubt.
If you think I sensationalize and "create the story," why are you here? It's that simple.
Fact - definition of anonymous
1 : not named or identified (an anonymous author) (they wish to remain anonymous)
2 : of unknown authorship or origin (an anonymous tip)
3 : lacking individuality, distinction, or recognizability (the anonymous faces in the crowd)
I particularly like number three.
Since RK is probably through remodeling his kitchen and roofing his house by now, I think I am actually going to do something contructive now.
See ya'll at the campfire tonight.
I am going to burn a red shirt today. I hope no one gets made at me. It is a pretty cheap shirt, after all. It doesn't really fit me anymore, either.
Are we going to get a Trotter answer tomorrow? I believe I heard we would find out if he will be the backup tomorrow.
I also read an article that said Ensminger had been named the OC. That is incorrect I think. He has just been named to coach QBs and do play calling from what I have seen from CTT. JayG, is that the case.
I also believe CTT has said that the new OC won't be someone that is currently on the staff. Isn't that the case?
Ensminger is the de facto offensive coordinator ... or interim O.C.
The next O.C., assuming Tuberville hires him, will not come from the current staff. That's what Tuberville said two weeks ago, anyway.
I don't think you'll get a definitive answer on Trotter until the WVa game. Since this isn't a conference games, Auburn can suit up many more players than usual.
I expect Trotter to be there. Will he play? I don't know just yet.
A relaxing Sat. Morning, watching Gameday, etc. helps to gain clarity.
Todd and Burns have been around D1 football enough to see what they can do or what potential they may have. I'm not convinced that either of those 2 can truly be what we need next year. Both Qbs are struggling now, so unless Burns miraculously improves, put Trotter in and see how his young skills match up with the SEC talent.
It seems that CTT is committed to at least some version of the spread, so the coaches might as well get good inventory of the talent pool while they are trying to find the formulas that work.
Hey anon @ 11:26....According to what I've read, JGT reports facts in the MGY Advertiser articles. Of course he gets into subjective discussions on this blog...this is not "reporting".
Even on here, JGT is not "creating" a story. His comments/opinions aren't as guarded as Peter Marshall's, but are rational, respectful and fair to AU. I wouldn't post on here if that weren't the case.
One more prop for JGT...He doing a great job keeping balance between positive and negative opinions during tuff times, all the while keeping the discussion lite and offbeat enough to be entertaining.
OK..the mancrush is over.
hey folks. i've been watching my mom's aggies play tex. tech. watching tech's offense, i'm seeing that their o line seems much more involved in the scheme than ours. all sorts of pulling and assignment specific stuff. our o line needs to be doing that.
Thanks for the support, Hoop.
"Just the facts" is boring.
Facts + analysis + fun = HABOTN
Love it or leave it.
Phred,
As I unfortunately figured, I didn't get nearly as much as I had planned done today.
Oh well. There's always next weekend or something.
love
