Tuberville speaks
Hey everyone. Let's get to it.
Here is a short little thing I wrote for the Advertiser.

Here is a short little thing I wrote for the Advertiser.
- Tuberville said the offensive coordinator job will remain open. Steve Ensminger will move to the press box this week. He'll collaborate with Tuberville to make play calls.
- Tuberville said he'll soon begin generating a list of candidates for the full-time OC job. He said no current assistants will be considered for that job.
- Tuberville insinuated that he won't make a hire until after the regular season concludes.
- Tuberville said he hadn't really considered the idea of hiring a consultant, but said he "probably" wouldn't do that. "We've got plenty of guys who know what they're doing," he said.
- Tuberville was non-committal about who will start at quarterback this weekend.
- Tuberville said they worked mostly on special teams today.

if no current assistants are being considered for oc, doesn't that add a little weight to tubs' assertion that he remains committed to the spread?
Did he give a time frame on the OC situation?
Thankfully it's not going to be someone internal. Although, maybe Gran wouldn't be a bad choice to give him a try.
I guess that depends on your definition of "the spread."
He said 50% of "the spread" already was installed by Al Borges.
Has someone ever sit Tub down and just asked him what he thought the spread should be?
I know he likes Oklahoma, but if Borges already installed 50% of it, where did he install it? EA's NCAA football 2007?
Love to see Chip Kelly from Oregon at AU. He coaches the spread option and does it well.
Slightly off subject, but anyone know where the gash on TF's head came from?
Oregon is probably too finesse for what Tub wants.
It doesn't matter who it is, for a couple reasons.
1. The BBQ Clique will begin undermining the new OC the day he arrives.
2. Tuberville won't be in a position to hire anyone at season's end.
At least I hope #2's true.
so we were already running the spread under Borges? No wonder the change was so seamless this year
The gash came from the DB's roughing him up after practice because they didn't think he hustled enough.
Wait, maybe that was a different rumor.
As far as Franklin's alleged "gash," I watched that scene yesterday and didn't notice anything.
There were 10 other reporters there, too, and they didn't notice anything.
So where is this coming from?
I was surprised, michael, to learn today that Al Borges was a spread guy.
I had no idea.
I thought offesnive coordinator talk was for Jan/December...oh my bad this is Auburn, its anytime and almost every year
I guess I'd like to have the OU offense too if that's an option. But I was hoping CTF would have us evolve more into Mizzou. IMHO, I would have rather seen the offense from the bowl game and A Day than what we ended up with. At this point CTT should have let CTF have total autonomy and just punt 2008 to teach FUNDAMENTALS to build on in 2009.
Isn't the OU offense just a pro set (more like Petrino's) but with some spread plays sprinkled in? That would sure work well with the talent we have currently, but I thought this was at least partially about widening our recruiting base away from NFL prototypes and toward little speed demons?
And I think the 50% spread CTT is referring to was the "Kodi package" from last year.
Hopefully auburn will be able to get a good coordinator.
As long as the traitor is hc (ctt) we will only be mediocre
CTT doesn't plan for the future. He is always concerned about the short term to protect his job.
Anything less than 10 wins and he's in hot water, any less than 9 and he's gone. One mans uninformed opinion. I love Tubs, but this was his call and it failed for whatever reason. He got a do over after 2003 for his mistake, won't happen this time.
No, Borges preferred straight butter over spread.
Apparently Franklin's uncombed hair looked like there was a cut in the side of his head on the camera on al.com, so the Bama fans jumped all over it on message board.
A co-worker of mine who is a Bama fan asked me about it this morning. I had no clue, but he is convinced there was an open wound on the side of his head.
Oh great. Can't wait to see that dynamic Tubminger offense in action!
I can think of 6 million reasons why he will get another do over.
I dunno, if CTT can keep the streak going, I'd think he'd be somewhat safe. Short-sighted maybe, but 7 straight does matter to a bunch of folks. why oh why did we have to fold in 2001??
I think at least 8 wins and a split in the last two games is needed.
I don't think the six million reasons would hold back certain people from making it happen.
"I think at least 8 wins and a split in the last two games is needed."
I agree but the loss to Bama or Georgia can't be an embarrassing blow-out with the offense bumbling around.
I dont know...it seems CTT worked really hard to legally/financially put himself in a position to become pretty hard to fire after jetgate. I just dont see how AU could fire one of it's most successful coaches because of this. The cost-benefit is just too great. With CTT, this offense will be fine next year. With a new HC/staff were looking at 3-5 years before AU football is even relevant in the SEC again.
This all feels like a snow job.
Like Tubs is telling us to leave him and his program alone. He knows what he's doing.
So much smoke and mirrors.
Jay G, you said this week's package was a lot of spread. You think they move forward with that?
Since no current assistants will be considered, does that mean another lone gunman hired into that fray?
It wouldn't just be because of this. It would be adding up 10 years of things that have happened that have irked the wrong people despite the record.
We have talent there. It's not like a new coach would come into a mess like Tub came into when he got here.
If something happened and he got fired, he's leaving the program in far far better shape than he go it.
We wouldn't suddenly just drop off the face of the SEC.
#1 Borges is not a "spread" guy.
#2 Borges is not coaching anymore. Doesn't matter what he conceivably installed from '04 to '07...which was a west coast variation.
By that comment, that Borges already installed 50% of the spread, which Auburn can not run mind you, I say you've been sold another line of BS by Tubs, Jay.
I wasn't sold. Are you kidding?
I had to contain laughter when Tuberville said that about Borges' offense.
Just because I REPORT it doesn't mean I BELIEVE it.
Well, didn't mean YOU as in you're that gullible. That was just the kind of thing I do at the local circus.
Here's a picture I received in an email. I don't have access to AuburnSports.com so I don't know if this has been photoshopped.

How anyone thinks that next year will b ok is bynd me
We have not been ok for three years
Forget any bigname oc's. We will get a young up and comer that ctt likes
No one established will touch us after what ctt did yesterday
No one
Just watch
What some see here as justified will be vilified by the coaching establishment
Six games!!!
Pic = not legit.
Believe me, I'd report the heck out of a 3-inch gash on a coach's head.
That picture has been worked on some.
But, Jay G ... if you didn't notice it in the video then you weren't looking very closely. I had to adjust the brightness of my screen and look at it on full screen, but it is most definitely there. Probably nothing. Fell down walking or something. But it is not being fabricated, unless he did it himself. Look again.
I'm looking at the still picture taken at the SAME MOMENT ... and there is no gash.
Photoshop is getting too real these days.
Okay ... not doubting you. but what are they zooming in on?
email that to me please. I want to be in the know.
Our production number should be vilified by the coaching establishment.
war eagle guys, it was rough, like breaking up with glen close in fatal attraction, but hopefully franklin wont boil our rabbit. I stayed up late last night with the campfire, but today i feel much better, i feel like we have been cleansed. I look forward to the game this weekend.
"Steve Ensminger and I have sat down and talked a lot about responsibilities," Tuberville said. "He will be in the box, he and I will converse about plays. He will be in charge of the offense in terms of calling plays.
"It's a good setup, not much different than what we had. The thing that we want to do is make everything positive and do everything to the point where our guys understand what they've got to do and how they've got to do it and play as a team."
In other words further proof that wasn't CTF's offense.
No gash; bald spot
Jay,
I got that pic yesterday and its one of the saddest i have ever seen.....I was able to make out one book title...some self-hlp book by Tony Robbins
It's not sad, man.
He did that on purpose. He moved his SUV from a secluded lot to the FRONT OF THE BUILDING to do that.
Jay:
What is your opinion on the long-term effect for us on hiring a coordinator.
I think it will be really difficult.
not the same shots, but not arguing
Wow,
My dad always told me I would learn something new everyday.....one thing is true, TF never did shy away from the cameras
Does CTT even believe what he says anymore? I don't see how he can keep a straight face telling the whoppers from the last few days. This is really reminding me of Bowden's last few days when everyone involved was spinning their story to the press. All we need now is a Franklin explosion of HIS version of what happened. I think this ends up ending UGLY for all involved.
As long as the next coordinator likes the power-run game, I don't think it would be serially problematic.
"We've got plenty of guys who know what they're doing," he said."
Oh, that must be why the offense has been so successful. Why does Tuberville think we are so stupid?
