For once I am looking forward to hearing Tigertalk tonight...Should be really juicy.
We ran the spread 50% of the time last year? News to any one else?
I don't know anymore. Each progressive interview with Tub gets more difficult to watch.
50% seems about 45% too high.
Anyone else think he just makes it up as he goes along for these interviews? None of that makes much sense.
Tell me about it.

I love it. Scandal!
Go, Tigers! Beat Arkansas.
Does he know that he fired Franlin? "Well, Tony did a good job coaching them up"; "Tony is a good coach he knows the system very well". So that's why he was fired, because he knows the system better than everyone else? When Tubbs starts making decisions that are based on keeping his buddies happy and not based on what's best for Auburn its time for him to go.
WOW......is this really happening
He really needs to not talk too much until he has a better understanding of where he wants to go from here.
So let me get this straight - defensive minded CTT and Ensminger are now going to run the offensive show? Why does the Tubsminger experiment already feel like a disaster in the making?
Did anyone catch Finebaum yesterday trying to hook Stallings into slamming Tubs and Stallings actually applauded Tubs for reversing course after supporting Franklin the day before...Finebaum was a little dismayed.

mr sensible... I understand your frustration, but you can't exactly say Tubs' methods don't work. On the national level, if he gave a truly honest interview, it would catch more fire and turn into more of a soap opera than it already is. The national columnists take what he says at face value for the most part. Sure, bloggers and their readers know better, but we make up a pretty small portion of the fan base. I can tell you one thing: Tubs doesn't seem too concerned about our opinion of the thing, and probably rightfully so.

Unfortunately, we will just have to wait and see how the last six games turnout to see if Tub's made a good decision or a really bad one, I lean toward really bad.
Unless we can run the ball consistantly vs 8 and 9 in the box, we'll probably struggle on offense unless somehow one of these QB's breaks out.
Sensible ... I added that idea, with a visual aid, to the main blog.
So, if Tubs is really committed to running the spread, he'll probably want to grab an OC from a program that currently runs the spread. Here are some of those programs:
Spread Offense
- Mike Leach - Texas Tech
- Todd Dodge - North Texas
- Gary Pinkel - Missouri
- Hal Mumme -New Mexico State
- June Jones (SMU)
- Joe Tiller (Purdue Boilermakers)
- Gus Malzahn (Tulsa)
Spread Option
- Rich Rodriguez at West Virginia and now Michigan
- Chip Kelly at Oregon
- Jerry Moore at Appalachian State
- Urban Meyer (Florida)
Spread Flex
- Troy Calhoun (Air Force)
Pistol Offense
- Chris Ault's Nevada Wolf Pack
High School
- Todd Dodge - now with N Texas
- Conrad Nix - Northside High in Warner Robins, GA
NFL
- Bruce Arians' Pittsburgh Steelers
- Ronnie Brown - Miami Dolphins
Spread Offensive Coach Ronnie Brown....nice Buck, nice. ;)
Todd Dodge is knocking it out of the park this year, huh?
Can the offense really get any worse(109th)?
Jay,
My gut reaction is that Franklin didn't communicate his play calling with Tuberville often enough throughout the games. I think CTT made an effort to allow him to act with autonomy early on, but became increasingly frustrated with the relatively lame play calling during games. Practices went well, but the offense simply stalled as each game came and went.
I wonder if CTT started to suggest and then demand more during the game (like I doubt the first quarter of the Vandy game was CTF's idea), and CTF paid lip service to the head coaches ideas, but was actually passive aggressive (hence the repetative calls of the same play) in execution. Juvenile? Sure, and I'll bet it came up in their 'discussion' prior to the firing.
Just my gut reaction, by the way, no basis in fact. I'm just trying to reason out why CTT would fire CTF when he did.
Does anyone else have a viable scenario?
My guess is the "old Franklin" that showed up in practice on Tuesday got cut off pretty quickly by some assistants...Franklin went to Jay Jacobs to express his disgust and wash his hands of it all and the move was made after that.
Just my thoughts.
The first 11 comments capture a nice round summary of the AU blogger's puzzlement.
This is kinda like the economy....several different scenerios are possible....can't realistically say that any of them are positive.
I absolutely try to give the coaches the benefit of the doubt in situations b/c there is so much that us fans can really know enough details about to have a valid opinion. I just don't see how CTT can give the politcal, vague answers and avoid stating the obvious. Even my friends that aren't "internet blog junkies" are asking for candor. How about: "I made a descision that hasn't worked out and we are going to do the best we can to repair and finish the year" and then say all fo the other stuff. I'm OK with that.
Tommy isn't down with the MCP.
That's obvious.
Jay,
"50% seems about 45% too high." There you go again with your SAT math. Could easily translate into the percent of a playbook disappearing. Where's the Pink Pearl graphic?
Thanks for keeping us in the know.

I love Tubbs, but none of this makes a lick of sense. I can't believe anything he says anymore.
