Getting it Cranked Up, Tuesday Edition

Hey everyone. We had a ton of participation on the campfire last night, so big ups to the HOTTIES and our other associates for making it fun.

Maybe we'll light the torch tonight as well.

(The picture at left is the coaches' hallway, barren, at 10 a.m.)

Here's what's happening at this hour:
  • As you may have seen in other places, there was a team meeting this morning. I didn't relay that information to you because, frankly, it wasn't relevant. They discussed basic stuff like off-season weightlifting schedules and training room hours. They do this every year. Tuberville wasn't discussed.

  • I'll be keeping an eye on Tuberville and Jay Jacobs today. Nothing (conclusive) has happened so far.

  • As for the statement you see below from Kirk Sampson, I wouldn't read too much into it. Auburn felt like too many reporters knew about Tuberville's meeting with Jay Gogue (still not sure Jacobs was involved there) and wanted to take a proactive stance. The statement wasn't an affirmation of Tuberville. It wasn't damning, either. It was just an admission that a meeting had occurred. Nothing more.

Jay, this must be the part of being a reporter that you hate. I can't imagine being in this position. It is almost like you are having to go up and ask Tuberville if he is fired yet every day. I wouldn't want to have to do it.

I agree Jay its all a false alarm.

New Topics:

1. How is recruiting going? Any new news? Is Auburn really going to offer the QB from Leroy? He will be in the state championship game this weekend, he is a stud, but from a small school.

2. Mens Basketball? Jay is it that bad again? We lost to teams I have not even heard of over the weekend. I can only imagine when we play good teams. Can we please get Chris Porter back from playing in Turkey to help us out.

3. Womens basketball? Hey we look good, lets hope Bonner and Smalley stay healthy.

4. Baseball- I noticed the new coachs recruiting list. Lots of pitcher and players and not many from bama. Thats a good think, my ex-roomate in college played baseball and always said baseball in Florida, etc. other states is heads and shoulder above other areas.

Jay,

Latest I have been told is the meeting with Gouge went very well.Gouge is once again backing Tubs. Now he is meeting with Jay or will be very shortly. after that meeting if Jay thinks a change needs to be made then he will have to convince Gouge of it.

This is like a soap opera.

So, I get the impression the Tuberville index is bouncing between 25% and 78.33%. If what was said about Tuberville having already met with Gouge and he liked what he heard, I can't see Jacobs pulling the trigger. Weirder things have happened though. I am now in a thinking Tuberville will be around mode again. I think I will do a thinking Tuberville will be fired mode later in the day if we don't hear anything.

I think I may have over-reacted to the "statement that wasn't really a statement" last night. I don't think they have any plans to fire him.

My theory is the reason for Meeting #2: To Be Continued Edition is because Gogue leaned on him about cleaning house in the Offensive staff and Tubs didn't like that idea. I'm guessing they gave him the evening to think it over and come up with something.

So, if my theory is correct, we will see today just how far Tubs' loyalty goes with the BBQ crew.

But what do I know? I'm just a turd.

Otherwise, Clemenza's gonna take 'em for a ride, and he'll be takin' the canoli with him when he leaves.

I'm the new AD folks, and things are changin'.

CTT - Chill out! He's had a lot on his plate!
PTB - OK, well sleep on it. If you don't agree you're fired.

Was Texas hosed? No.

After all, the humans tried to push it back in the poll this week, and they didn't push enough.

All Texas had to do was tackle Crabtree in bounds, or intercept the pass on the play before.

The rules were written before the season ... dems da breaks.

No tears here for the Horns, even though my man Boom is there.

Every game matters ... the ones you win and the ones you lose.

Remember, Mack campaigned his way into the BCS bowls one year. Karma, is has been said, is one mean chick.

Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be
guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Steve from Columbia (just kidding)? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep
for Tuberville and you curse the
hard-core HOTTIES. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: That Tuberville's ouster, while tragic, probably saved wins. And my existence, while grotesque and
incomprehensible to you, saves wins.

You don't want the truth. Because
deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me there.
We use words like running game, defense and special teams ... we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline.
I have neither the time nor the
inclination to explain myself to a
man who rises and sleeps under the
blanket of the very success I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it. I'd prefer you just said thank you and went on your way.
Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a
a clipboard and a whistle and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to.

SO THERE!

Some horrible 2008 stats.

Leading rusher: Ben Tate 664 yards, Burns with 441 was 2nd.

Burns led the team with 5 rushing TD's.

The Longest run from scrimmage was 58 yards by Burns.

We averaged just 3.5 yards per rush.

Burns led the team with 1050 yards passing with 2 TD's and 7 int's. Todd had 903 yards passing with 5 TD's and 6 Int's.

The longest pass of the year was by Todd for 58 yards.

We averaged just over 10 yards per completion.

Rod Smith was the leading receiver with 332 yards.

Fannin & Dunn tied with 2 TD's receiving for the team lead.

Tristan Davis averaged 27.4 yards per KR with 2 TD's & Dunn averaged 16.0 yards per PR with 1 TD (1 called back)

Josh Bynes lead the team in interceptions with 3.

Byrum was 11/19 on FG's.

Zac Etheridge was the leading tackler with 75. (Never good when a DB is your leader.)

Coleman was the team leader with 6 sacks and 10.5 tackles for a loss.

For those wanting the entire offensive staff fired, I would re-think that. Let the new OC pick and choose. That is what I am wanting to hear from Tuberville. So far I think all I have heard is that the new OC will be able to bring a couple of people with him.

I do think that the multi-day phenomenon may be due to what I proposed yesterday, namely, coach, you say you can turn it around. How much of that $6 Million are you willing to bet on that?

My feeling is that Tuberville no longer has the fan support to save him, so they now have him by the short and curlies.

PETER FRANKENSCHMIDT KAFFEE: This is a record of all telephone calls made from your base in the past 24 hours. After being subpoenaed to Auburn, you made three calls.
I've highlighted those calls in
yellow. Do you recognize those
numbers?

COL. JET JESSUP: I called Colonel Eddie in Georgia, I wanted to let him know I'd be in Auburn. The second call was to set up a meeting with Congressman Sensible of the House Armed Services Committee, and the third call was to Lake Kiffen's wife.

PETER KAFFEE: Why did you make that call, sir?

COL. JET JESSUP: I thought she might like to have dinner tonight. She's a total hottie. Even for a UT girl. The nuclear plant in Oak Ridge is in danger of total meltdown kind of hottie.

Doug Amos is a nice guy I am sure, but he just took all three sides to the Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech debate.

Way to jump out there on the ledge... :-)

I think the current "Offensive" staff could/should get an interview with the new OC. Let him pick who, if any, he wants to keep. But no pressure, let him choose.

Somehow a terrible vision is coming to mind. Gouge with a paddle and Tuberville bent over his desk. "Who's your daddy Tuberville, who's your daddy"?

Hey Hal Mumme is avaiolable noe after getting canned. Who knows the spread better than him?

12:33 PM

Exactly Mr. Spock. What would happen if the offensive staff was fired and the new OC and said he wanted Gran to coach the runningbacks? Well, ummm, he isn't, ummm, here. Sorry about that coach.

It should be Oklahoma.

And Texas has zero gripe (as would Oklahoma) because they lost a game this year. Lose a game and lose your griping rights.

I am not sure we will run the spread next season. The spread has turned into the bend over and spread em.

you know... This OK, TX TT debate is amusing - It proceeds from the assumption that which ever is selected will win the B12CG. They do still have to play that game. What is OK goes and loses? does TX get into the MNC game????

Nothing will change with the staff until there is a firm decision/commitment to man at the top.

After that, it just depends on the coach.

FSJ, if memory serves me right, George said that the buyout had been negotiated down to 4 million, and that the new coach was ready in waiting.

Jay then said that George was wrong about at least one thing today... which means he could also be RIGHT about one thing, Jay? :)

I know, "at least" is in there, but I'd rather make something out of nothing!

I very seldom agree with Doug Amos but he is right about one thing regarding this AU mess. By not making a strong verbal statement about Tubberville, they ARE making a strong statement about Tuberville.

If the conversation ay AU is going like JMoon and Scarbinski are discussing, these nuts are putting their egos way above Auburn University. What a shame. Total mismanagement.

It seems they all are willing to throw AU under the bus. Move over Monic here comes the whole university.

FSJ ... if a lady wants to say something nice to me, get outta the way. You're a Tuberville fan is what you are.

By the way, saying you're a Tuberville Fan makes one think that you're scared of him because you are a known Faker.

But I think you're a Double Faker who really wants us to think you're scared of Tuberville when you really aren't, so you pronounce your love for him to double fake us.

He's a wily guy, FSJ. Better watch him.
