Sunday update
Hey everyone. I hope you're enjoying your NFL Sunday. Or your Christmas Shopping Sunday. Or whatever you're doing this fine Sunday.
I talked earlier today with DeMarco McNeil, the former Auburn defensive tackle who spent the 2008 season as the team's graduate assistant. He spent two seasons playing for Gene Chizik, spent a season coaching at Auburn and grew up in Mobile.
Could his affable personality and lower Alabama roots make him the kind of dogged recruiter Chizik needs in lower Alabama?
McNeil is hoping.
``I'm just waiting to see what happens," McNeil said. ``I love Auburn. I'd love to stay at Auburn."
Chizik is expected to begin taking tangible steps toward assembling his staff this week. He spent the past six days -- the first six days of his tenure -- trying to repair damage done to the program's recruiting efforts.
Tuberville's sudden departure and the subsequent fallout created tension that Chizik has been trying to soothe. He has met with high school coaches in at least four states since being hired on Dec. 15.

Hello to all the Hotties!!!
Hello to you.
I'm hoping we can see some staff moves in the next few days. Any thought that the Holidays would impinge on that process Jay?
the Titans-Steelers game has been a pretty good one. :)
Demarco is one of my all time favorites. TJ Jackson, too.
Great representatives of Auburn.
Jay,
Any word on Stacey Searles or the Whitt family?
I've been taking a continuing education test for the past 2 hours and forgot all about that game, scottie b! Darn!
Good afternoon, Jay G!
I just checked the score, scottie b...I'm not happy. But, I'm sure you are!
Happy Sunday Hotties.
Where is Demarco from in Lower Alabama?
Go Dolphins! They're in a good one with Kansas City.
monnie, Demarco went to Blount H.S. in Mobile. same high school Dameyune Craig went to.
i'm not a HUGE Titans fan but they're on every sunday. however, it's much more fun when they're winning. :) i consider myself a Falcons fan but the M.Vick thing really soiled my cheering for them. mostly i cheer for former AU players.
I cheer for former Auburn players too, scottie b. Growing up, I was a Steelers fan. I'm not into the NFL so much, but I watch because I love football. I would much rather watch college football, though.
Thanks for the info, Scottie.
What a country. I can watch the dolphins even on a Blogspot site and I found IT via Justin.TV
http://freenflgame.blogspot.com/
By the way, Greg has found some very, very strange things on Justin.TV
Just saying...
sweaters are really cheap at j crew right now.
thanks for the info, PF! They are having crazy sales everywhere this year.
I have never been to justin.tv without my virus protection and anti spyware going bonkers.
they have Gordon Ramsey cookware for 75% off at Belk at the Galleria Mall in Bham.
yeah, just went out to pick up a sweater for my trip to the ATL next week, and ended up with all kinds of crap. sales were insane, and NOBODY was out shopping (well, until we got to target to get 3 oz bottles. that place was craze!).
Luv ...
Don't touch my #$*#($@ cookware. You are not worthy of my #@$%$#%# cookware. Your meals are for %$@^!
Sorry, I was possessed by Gordon for a moment.
LOL, Jet!!!!
Demarco McNeil is interesting. He was the guy that was too small of Dubose to recruit:) He didn't fit the prototype Dubose was seeking.
I love Demarco ... but there are some other folks I'd like to see turn down the chance to coach first.
Alabama State at Auburn men's hoops tomorrow.
That promises to be FAN-tastic!
I didn't know they sold sweaters in Miami.
Jay,
I know you dont follow recruiting but have you heard anything...the jist i have got is that CGC has been working the road but the feedback has been so-so.
Also, the further away we get from the hiring, I dont think Turner Gill was ever that close to getting the job. Thoughts?
As for shopping Jos. A Banks has some insane sales going on right now.
Jos Bank is the best place for big and tall shirts/suits. You gotta go with the wrinkle free Traveler's series though. I love that store.
Scott I agree with the Gill thoughts. This was a regime change and no coach had a change unless he planned to bring Dye's boys back in power with him.
The more I look at it from a strictly Auburn perspective....when people say' why do you have to bring someone in who has ties to Auburn?, just look at Florida with Urban Meyer etc....well Florida is Florida and Auburn is Auburn. you have to work a little harder to succeed at Auburn (and you can succeed) so you cant just bring in the next best thing and know it will work. I think the powers that be saw Turner Gill and said it can either go really good or really bad (see ty willingham at UW).
Jos. A. Bank: The official outfitter of Jet G. Ate.

jet...go get your 3 for 1
Scott I really dont even think it was that deep. Chizik was going to side with the Dye crowd and open the program back up to them. I think that's all they needed to know
AUBC,
probably not, i just wonder why it took them seven days to hire Chiz.
I think once we get the pick for the OC, we will have a better idea of how successful this will be initially. I still think it was a mistake for AU to pick a defensive coach as opposed to an offensive hc. Style points determine NCs these days and you dont get style points for defense.
Well if they want Searles they will be offering him the OC
I dont know much about him as an OC prospect. What are your thoughts on him?
Well he has trained under Jerry Moore (app state), Saban, and Richt. I would see him more of a running game guy which is fine but we HAVE to get a guy who can make the defenses at least fear the pass
I agree. I sure hope CGC feels the same way
I don't think we get Searels unless he is offered the OC. He knows how to play wide out offense surely. The the offensive fire power at Ga. He should understand.
Chizik and Lolley spent 3 hours at Lutzenkirchen's house. That's a heck of a long visit. Chiz says he hopes to have a new OC in the "next couple of weeks."
I realize this is not upper most in Coach Chizik's mind, but these are the kinds of trivial things that occupy me.
I wonder if he will declare ALL ORANGE dead and buried? I wonder if he will call for a resurrection of the good ole Navy blue?
Happy Sunday HOTTIES!
Mon how are you?
Ok excuse the dumbness here but how do you know this about Lutzenkirchen's house?
ahhhh trust me Mon knows.....
She is just that damn good!
Hear her now n believe her later!
I'm ok with Orange. I typically were orange and blue anyway. Tub's request never really played into what I wore to the games.
Mon send TB the info....
He is a nonbeliever!
Bring him to the light.
I do not doubt just asking.
AU me an Mon understand each other pretty good.
TB,
I got a link to a story if you would like to read....
I was just kidding with you about understanding Mon....
It's all good
Chizik is out and about recruiting
A while back Lutzenkirchen made a statement about not wanting to go to a system where he had to do alot of blocking. I wonder if he still feels that way?
Monica whats the deal with Brandon Jacobs? I know UF offered not too long ago and have been really pushing for his services. He was also pretty suprised that AU didnt go with Gill. I would imagine that the new commitment to the run would make him feel better but you never know.
Hello, has anyone heard how the recruting is going? Has CGC healed any of the wounds from CTT's quick departure
He hasnt healed any wounds of our bigger ones that got away but he seems to be doing a good job of calming the fears of most of the 'wait and see' recruits
thank you, for the update. I need to subscribe to Rivals or Scout.com but I am trying to get resituated here at Ft Benning. WR EAGLE and I have enjoyed what I have been reading here so far!
Well welcome to the HABOTN and War Eagle!! This is a pretty friendly group here. Although the coaching hire seemed to test some of our virual friendships. lol
You could probably save that money from the pay sites and just pop in here and ask a few questions. There are a few folks here that subscribe to these sites. I dont but I pretty much keep up with recruiting though online newspapers, radio segments and discussion boards.
Scott ... Turner Gill wasn't that close to getting this job? You are correct!
I can't gauge recruiting yet.
Chizik's been on the job for six days now. If they get a commitment from Tana Patrick or Dre Kirkpatrick, I'll be impressed.
Hey Hotties - You all watching So Miss in these gosh awful uni's???
GO TROJANS!
Hey Mobile - I'm good. How are you? I finished all my shopping today and even did some baking! I have an inner domestic goddess.
BigCat - Jacobs seems pretty solid to Auburn. His biggest problem is his earrings are too big for his ears. Not sure why Chizik wasn't able to make their visit today, but Joe Whitt and Jimmy Perry were there and talked the Chiz up pretty good. Seems to have impressed him with his former-player love. Nothing will work like getting Chiz there which I think he's going to try to do on Jan 5.
TD - my BFF- you have mail.
Lutzenkirchen was all about the spread. Now he's on wait and see with the new OC.
If Chizzy pulls Kilpatrick and Patrick he can officially hold the title as the greatest recruiter of all time.
Kirkpatrick not kilpatrick
Yea Monica...Jacobs earrings are redic!!
I don't think Tana is outside of the realm of possibility...Dre is a looooooooooooooooong shot.
However, we have Faker as our advocate and you know what they say - "Through Faker all things are possible."
HA..Faker the all knowing/all seeing! What do you think about Jermaine Johnson?? From the headers on Rivals it sounds like Miami could steal him.
This is my fave quote from Donald Ford's visit/Rivals interview:
"Coach Chizik ate a little bit. Coach Whitt ate a pretty good bit."
BigCat - Sent you the Jermaine Johnson article via Facebook.
SSGKAE, welcome. I think you will enjoy it here. There are a lot of nice people and me here.
Monica that's a great quote from Dee Ford. Looks like we got him at LB for now and not DE. I hear it's a pretty hard transition from playing with a hand in the dirt to standing up. Thanks for the article too!
Heard over the weekend that President Gogue was actually in Madison, AL visiting Bob Jones High School when the Tuberville resignation occurred. Gogue apologized to Principal Parker for cutting the visit short, but he stated he had an urgent matter to attend to in Auburn.
Hey Mon.
How are you tonight?
I don't know what Chiz ate or Whitt ate, but I know what Jet G. Ate ...
Some Bruster's ice cream!
Turtle!
Scottatl ...
3 for 1!
Ah, the good ol' days.
Oh, a Jos. A. Bank.
I love cruising around the web and finding a link to the HABOTN.
yeah, Phred. Crazy, huh.
Hey Mobile! I'm good and about to freeze! It's 13 degrees with a wind chill of NEGATIVE FOUR! That's cold cold for here.
You're welcome, BigCat. My pleasure.
I'm out for the night. Goodnight, Hotties.
Okay, this is my absolute favorite day of the holidays. We are sitting down as a family right now to watch some Christmas movies, including my favorite...Christmas Vacation. I will talk to yall later when this is through.
Just finished watching Christmas Vacation with Mrs. Jet, Turbo Prop and the Stewardess.
Good times.
Just discovered that my downstairs heating unit isn't working. Oh, good times! Guess we'll be helping the repairman finance his Christmas.
Anyone else think Southern Mississippi's uniforms look like little mustard packets?
We went to see White Christmas last night at the Alabama Theater in downtown Bham. Was a hard sell out 2500 people in there. Wow it was outstanding event. The big Wurlitzer organ played and people sang Christmas carols. Great event.
The Alabama Theater is a such a beautiful venue ... the Stewardess (my 15 y.o.( used to compete in dance competitions there.
Just saw on another board that Jeff Bowers name is coming up as a candidate. Any thoughts on this?
I appreciate the fact that Monica believes in me.....
However, if you are expecting any advocacy from me in the DK recruitment...........don't hold your breath...
I like y'all, but not that much.. ;-)
thank you all for acccepting me. I am originally from Montgomery, but the Army keeps me away. What website do you all use to see about the recruits.... I look on Scout.com and Rivals.com I hardly see anything about our AUBURN TIGERS..... I can not wait to see our 2009 Aubutn Tigers, from what I have read and what not it appears as if CGC was the right "fit" for the future of Auburn Football!
"Fit" is the buzzword these days..
And Welcome to our HABOTN and thank you for your service to our country!
I would like to thank Reggie Slack for stepping up and doing what is right. It is all to easy for someone to just jump on the negativity bandwagon. Slack showed a lot of class and responded to what has occurred in a very positive manner. Thank you Reggie, and thanks for the wonderful games you gave us.
staff sargeant kae, life time military brat, retired, here. scouts and rivals are ok, but, and i think most of the hotties will agree with me on this, they seldom reflect how well a team will do. i used to hate army and navy because the afrts was only able to televise one live game per year in germany and it was always that one. and they wouldn't even carry auburn on tape delay. wde.
Wake up Hotties!
SteveFC-can you point me to what you're talking about re: Reggie Slack? I'm having to share the 'puter with everyone else this week and don't get to keep us as much.
Thanks and WAR EAGLE!!!
Good morning, TarHeel! What time is it in Prague?
This comment has been removed by the author.
Can someone email me the Reggie Slack statement. The only place I can find anything about it is scout, and it won't let me read the article.
Dirty Birds clinched a playoff spot yesterday. That's cool.
Hi Luv!
We're now in Bratislava the capital of Slovakia and its almost 2 pm. After a busy morning everyone else is taking a short nap before we head back out. Not nearly as many English speaking folks here as in Prague.
Man, Mark Richt sounds like a Bobby Bowden clone with his guilt trip comments aimed at Searels:
“When I was at Florida State, I coached quarterbacks there for a good long while and I turned down multiple offensive coordinator positions because I didn’t think it was the right fit. As I was the coordinator, there were some head jobs that I wasn’t interested in. There were some lateral moves that I was asked to check my interest in. Just wasn’t interested. For me the quality of life for me and my family was really, really big. I was at a great place where I got to coach great kids and was working for an outstanding man. I just wasn’t in a hurry to disrupt that for a title or X amount of dollars.”
Of all the places in the world you could visit, why there? Does the language barrier present challenges?
Reggie's statement was impressive.
Tarheel, while you're in the Czech Republic, I am @ the surgical center Jackson Hospital, waiting to write the check for the copay on my daughter's knee surgery.
Some days you're the hammer. Other days the nail.
But, thank the Lord, never a Bammer.
...For me the quality of life for me and my family was really, really big. I was at a great place where I got to coach great kids...
Well, maybe, just maybe, Auburn is that place for Searels.
Luv-
Why r we here? Hadn't been here and it's cheaper and easier to get to than my dream trip to NZ. Doubt I'll ever go there. Vienna tomorrow and then to Budapest later in the week. And then there's my daughter's facebook answer to What are you doing now? Avoiding relatives
Yes the language barrier can present some problems, but usually not insurmountable
Hi Jet,
I hope your daughter's surgery went well. Did she mess up her knee in sports?
I doubt I'll ever go anywhere. At this rate, I'll be working until I'm 80 and I still won't have much in my retirement account.
Mrs. THT is up from her nap and I must forage for a cup of coffee while she takes over the computer. After all, it is her computer she's letting me use. Y'all Hotties have a great day and WAR EAGLE!!!
Inquiring minds want to know: what's with the Reggie Slack comment, and why did he release one. And what's he doing now, anyway?
Crushing loss last night for Troy.
A bad decision by a player, a sketchy coaching decision, a drop by the same player, and it all adds up to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Old ballet injury, reaggravated in HS color guard/dance line. The kid gutted it out through competitions and then waited until after exams to get it fixed -- torn meniscus and a cyst. She'll be OK.
Quote from Reggie Slack(Former Auburn Quarterback 1986-1989)
"If asked whether or not I agreed that Auburn was a racist institution with a plantation –like mentality, I would have to answer a resounding “No”. My answer is based simply on my experience as a player for 4 years and as an alumnus since. In taking this position, it doesn’t mean that I support every decision that the athletic administration has made. I think that there have been some mistakes made in the past as far as leadership, the hiring of coaches, and the treatment of former players, but this does not make Auburn University a racist institution.
"I was one of the first black quarterbacks to play at Auburn. During my tenure as a starting quarterback, I think that I received all the recognition and accolades that could be expected. When I left Auburn and was drafted by the Houston Oilers in 1990, I was perturbed at not being drafted higher, but I attribute that totally to the prevailing atmosphere present in the NFL concerning black quarterbacks and not to any stigma attached to me by Auburn University.
"I still feel today that Auburn is one of the finest universities in the country with some of the most supportive Alumni and loyal fans that one could ever hope to play in front of. I cherish my experience at Auburn and only wish that everyone could know just how special a place it truly is.
"I think that we as former players need to get behind our new coach and support this program in a positive way. We helped build this program and it would be a disservice to ourselves, our families, and to the institution that has helped mold us into the men we are today, to sit by idly and allow it to disintegrate in front of our eyes."
Reggie Slack
Thanks Big Cat. I wonder if anyone that was screaming racism a week ago is even listening to what Reggie has to say.
They probably won't change their minds, no matter what anyone says.
video from the press conference that wasn't shown on tv:

Good Monday morning, Hotties!
It's 6 degrees (-5 wind chill)with snow flurries. I'm sure it's about the same in Brewton, Alabama.
Thanks Bigcat. Reggie Slack was my favorite QB as a kid. It was my first jersey I ever owned, #17. He is a stand up guy and will always be one my favorites.
"...to sit by idly and allow it to disintegrate in front of our eyes."
That's a powerful statement.
Good Morning Monica It's a wooping 25 degrees here on the Plains but it should get warmer (please Lord let it get warmer lol).
Eddie Slack was the starting QB my freshman year (1989). I didnt even know SEC schools had black QBs. But I knew Auburn was special the first day I stepped foot on this place. Yea Slack was always a class act and truly adored by the AU family.
Reggie Slack Rocks! The most versatile AU QB ever.
QB by day...
Lead singer for Fine Young Cannibals by night!
AUBig Cat. Eddie must be Reggie's brother?
You know Aubie, I never put that together. But as I think about it, I never heard Reggie sing, nor did you ever see them both in the same place at the same time.
... and I remember opposing defenses screaming, "YOU DRIVE ME CRAZY ! Woo! WooW"
its a balmy 63 here.
Aubie WOW!!! LOL
What did Reggie have to say? What kind of statement did he make?
Yea when I was in Germany and Iraq I only got to see Auburn play 2 or 3 times over 3 years and 2 of those were bowl games. I had to pay and listen to them over the internet..... it was still about 2-3 minute delay...... Talking to Mom and Dad on the phone and they were cheering, I was like wth...... ofcouse Pop said "Keep listenin, Boy, you will hear it soon enough!" Got to love him.... WAR EAGLE!!
GOOD MORNING..... I can not say hotties, because I feel that is a term for hot women and all of you are not hot women...no offense ladies! I am sure most of you are some true HOTTIES!
Reggie Slack is brother by lettermen ties :).
I should have read a lttle farther...... My emails cmein batches or so it seems! Got the Reggie statement.... I remember him playing, but that's about all. I was not into AU Football too much as a teenager.... probably because I was moving around the world too much...
Morning all another boring day at the griss mill.
Yeah TB, I hate clock watching, and it's even tougher when there are just a few posting online this morning.
That '89 AU vs UF game was one of the strangest ever!
Slack was leading us for the go - ahead score, and all of a sudden it was 4 and 10, clock was running and we had no timeouts with just a few seconds to go... ball on the 25.
Go to you tube and search Auburn Florida 1989. Great game!
Look at the bright side: You have LIVE Alabama State @ Auburn men's basketbal tonight on the HABOTN.
I know you're excited.
Aubie, is that the dude from Fine Young Cannibals?
Yep there are more people with out of office messages than are here. So I am feeling rather sick today and may need to go home.
She drives me Crazy dude.
woo woo
Jay, are good seats still avaliable or is it nose-bleed only?
Jay sorry man but bball is that thing that happens between football and baseball seasons. We need to bring back Intercollegiate wrestling. Now I would enjoy that.
depressed ... perhaps we can squeeze you in under the south bleachers. You won't be able to see the game, but hearing your Auburn Tigers sure sounds sweet when there's 11,000 in the arena already.
Without googling it, FYC's lead singer is a dude named Roland ... right?
Sweed Umbach was one tuff coach. AU hosted the NCAA championships back in the day. (73 or 74)
Jay,
Yes it is the guy from FYC.
I was at AU while Reggie was there and MTV still played music videos.
You would be in the Supper Club and someone would say, "The guy from FYC just walked in."
"no, that's just Reggie Slack."
Either he was a spittin' image, or the Rx on the Beer Goggles needed adjusting.
Come to think of it, a lot of people looked different the next morning after a night at the supper club!
Auburn had a successful wrestling team?!?!
Roland Gift = Reggie Slack
SWEET! live HABOTN basketball! i'll be here.
so what's the over/under on attendance Jay G? 100? 125?
the game saturday was great. it was nice to see a road victory over.....anybody, but especially an ACC team.
Yep Tommy that was before Title 9. After that all SEC schools drop the program. It was a sad day.
Scottie B got my T Saturday. Thanks looks great.
Women. Phooey!
scottie b- my plan is to arrive early and haggle with the legions of scalpers for premium seats. I refuse to sit in a section with another person in it.
Here is a good reference point for Coach Swede
http://www.auburn.edu/wrestling/umbach.html
this is hilarious...... You all ROCK!! I am a single dad and the boys are with the ex, I am trying to do some additional cleanng while I am on leave and the boys are away.... Thanks for makingme laugh! It would be nice to see AUBURN have a good basktball team for once, it has been about 7 year or so since they had a remarkable team or so..... The women are having a great yearso far! I hope they keep it up!
Ok so that's a horrible thing to have happen. I've always wondered why all the wrestler's went somewhere else. My son wrestled at Collins Hill in Atl. and won the state one of the years he wrestled. Talk about a sport!! It's a shame that it got the axe, because I imagine a lot of kids would have stayed in the southeast.
LOL depressed.
Let me make that clear Collins Hill won state that year, he was a sophomore, and got invited to go with the team. He actually got to wrestle state the next year. Yeah it's a proud pops thing.
What's wrong with women, michael?
Shoot, I might try to make an AU BBall game while I am on leave.... It is only an hour or so away from Columbus.
I know Tommy. It is an outstanding sport. It is a shame it shut down. I went to Auburn as a freshman in 75 and was going to walk on but it was all gone by then.
Festivus is tomorrow, mrtommyd. I'll bet your son will dominate the Feats of Strength portion.
Nothing is wrong with women, Luv. It's just that, you know, women! Phooey!
I'll make sure he takes part Michael
LOL @ Depressed - that made me chuckle out loud
Monica, I think michael has had it with women
Mind you Michael does not speak for all the guys on the blog.
Jay G is listening to Pink
I tried to wrestle in High School, but got kicked off the team when I kept hitting guys over the head with folding chairs.
Tojo Yamamoto and Bearcat Brown did it, no problem.
eh, everyone is allowed a phooey now and again :-)
My hero was Burrhead Jones. Although I didn't fare as well when I tried to use my head to stop a chair coming at me.
Not sure if I'm ready to phooey women yet there Monica. Although .....
Tojo Amamoto (sp) was always cool. He would do his sumo prayer think before his match and would then throw salt in his foes face.
That's awesome!
Jermaine Johnson may be signing with Miami. This showed up in an article on al.com saying nothing would likely be announced for a while in terms of a staff. This would be a big loss at a position where I think we need help.
As much as I like my friends that are T-roy fans. Please stop saying that you could beat Auburn this year. As poorly as Auburn was this year, Auburn still beat LA-Monroe and Southern Miss very convincingly this year.
Actually I am looking forward to following tonight's game.
Alabama State can play some ball and it wouldn't surprise me in the least for this to be a close game (it was last year). It will be interesting to see if Auburn is a bit flat coming of the Virgina win.
Auburn has a chance to go on a nice little run here going into conference play.
Yea Jermaine Johnson will be the biggest loss of all of our decommits. He could have made an immediate impact
Now, if players could only improve their free throw %
if THE players, that is
I do hope that Chaz Ramsey will decide to return. We lose two linemen to graduation, Bosley and Greene. There are players to step in, but a bit of depth there would be nice.
Of more concern will be the defensive line. Dolittle being gone is a big loss in terms of depth. Should Marks head to the NFL we will be hurting there.
any word on when Chaz will be making his decision? Has he talked to the Chizinator yet?
We have some good young DL talent that would have seen time this year if not for injuries. Bosley will be a huge loss at center. We have a recruit coming in at that possition but he is like 255 lbs and not ready of SEC play at that position and weight imo. I hope we go the Juco route with some of our OL needs
I think this years recruiting will be just about worthless. Hopefully Chizik is successful next year, and if so then we should tear it up. Recruits who want playing time will start showing up.
Agreed, AUBigCat, we need some BIG, TOUGH O-lineman!
I think if we just held on to everyone we have left and added a big LB or two and another quality OL this class would be fine and still in the top 25. The coaching staff will be the most important commits we get this year imo. They will need to really coach up the WRs & QBs we have and get the RBs back on track.
Denny ... at the end of the season, I don't know if I would be so confident of our ability to take down Troy and Southern Miss ... except that Troy might -- ahem -- get a football lodged in its throat, as it did last night.
I am assuming Chizik is showing recruits the same plan he showed Jacobs, including his plan for who the position coaches will be. I have seen blogs saying that Chizik likely already knows most of his staff, which is certainly a possibility.
I am hoping to see Auburn become Runningback U again. It will be tough without Nall and Gran, but it can still happen. I can see Tate or Fannin achieving star status with the right offensive scheme. Tate needs work on getting to the corner quicker. Fannin needs to be more consistent. We shall se how it goes.
Anybody ready to be off work for the holidays.
It is completely dead at work today and will be till the end of the year. I am sooooo bored.
Oh well.

we're having to do a friggin' inventory at work. how about that for 'seasons greetings'?
not...so....much. enjoy the boredom eddie. :)
I believe it all starts wit hthe staff. If the yare all on the same page and committed to the scheme that's going to be used, there will be success. Just look at Tech. Of coursed they also had the fortune of getting a coach that has been there and done it on many levels. But I do believe common purpose and that feeling of playing for the good of all mankind we will have the ability to save the world from evil and tyranny. Oooops, this Captain AU avatar is stronger than I thought.
Eddie, I am SO thankful people are at least coming on the blog. Nothing going on in this office.
You're all invited to my office to help me get some work done! It's so hard to focus. Too many fun distractions.
I agree with AUBigCat and mrtommyd...the assistants that Chizik brings in can make all the difference in the world.
I'd rather be bored than doing inventory!
I watched some of the UGA/GT game the other night. I do admire that Paul Johnson offense and think he would have fit well at Auburn. I have heard rumors he was the top candidate but didn't want to change jobs again so quickly.
Regardless of who comes in as the OC, we need to get back to Auburn football, which starts with a Grecko Roman punch to the head type offense. I use to like it when Tuberville said we needed to be able to run when they know we're going to run. The best example was when we played Penn State in a bowl game many years ago. Caddy was out, so Ronnie Brown lead the show. Penn State has some all world runningback. I think his last name was Johnson. Ronnie destroyed Penn State. I want to see Auburn do that again.
As for work, I am off for the next couple of weeks. I will work a bit, but only at a casual pace unless something unsuspected shows up.
WestBGVa right Mon? I guess I'll be there in about 8hours weather permitting.
Feel for you Scottie. That sucks.
Over/Under when first assistant coaching hire is made? I say tomorrow.
that was a great game. johnson was upset with his coaches for not giving him the ball but, after a point, every time he got the ball, our d just crushed him.
Larry Johnson, Steve. He's been a HUGE disappointment in the NFL.
Tom - I'll leave the light on for ya.
Mon- I will also be in your state in a couple of months
Why?
scott from tucson, Auburn's D used to do that to a lot of running backs...hopefully Chizik will get them back to that.
I don't know that I would call Johnson a huge disappointment - he has had two 1700+ yard seasons. But the last couple of years he has certainly declined more rapidly than expected.
It is stinkin cold in Alabama today. What's it like in West Va?
LuvAU1968,
Larry Johnson a huge bust?
Before this year, he had back to back 1700 + yard rushing seasons.
So far Larry Johnson has had a better career than Carnell or Ronnie.
well, he's gotten into a lot of legal trouble, including assault charges on women. That's disappointing.
Michael - It's warmed up considerably from 6 (wind chill -5) this morning at about 9:00 to 18 (wind chill 9) now. The sun is shining!
yes, Ronnie and Carnell have been disppointing in the NFL. Ronnie was my favorite RB at AU.
