Will someone please explain to me why I enjoy watching the draft so much? It is not exciting, it is not entertaining, yet every year I find myself sitting in front of the TV watching it. Maybe it's the beers.
I read a few things last night on here about some big news regarding AU recruiting. Did anything ever materialize or did any other info become available?
The draft is a reason not to do something constructive.

Erin Andrews chosen to do interviews based on her probing questions on the sidelines of college football games. Great move by the worldwide leader in sports.
The real albatross for me is Bey getting shut out in 2 ACC games. The ACC isn't known for it's stout defenses.

I heard some talk that Ron Brown and J Camp might play into this draft as part of some trades today.
Ronnie Brown would be a steal....J-Cam is decent, but he obviously needs to be in the right situation.

i can't help but think marks is being penalized for playing on a bad AU team last year. he can go inside or outside and should be a nice pickup for someone in the 3rd or so. i hope he can get into a situation like the patriots or steelers. i'd take him with the saints any day of the week.

I'm surprised at how far Marks has supposedly fallen in the eyes of the NFL scouts. Kiper has him going in the 4th rd. He struggled some with injuries last season, but his first two seasons at AU were two of the best seasons by an AU D-lineman in years. He made plays in the backfield against the run and the pass, and played against top competition. Is an injured hamstring really causing him to fall that far?
He was projected in the 2nd round and I think that's where he'll go. I don't think he ever was predicted to hit the first round. I think Kiper putting him in the 4th is a bit naive.
i thought 10-20 was a bad sec record, we might dump on that this year if were not careful.

AU1- Ovie undressed the whole Ranger team. The guy is absolutely amazing. My fav Ovie goal is the one in '06 where he was sliding on his back.

marks wasn't even on the board as one of kiper's best 6-7 DTs available. i'm glad he went somewhere that is not a death sentence for a career.
i see some zone read option being in the mix with white and brown in the backfield for the fins. don't forget ricky either. i saw ronnie fake to him on the end around a few times last year.
Good deal for Sen'Derrick ... with Haynesworth gone, there's a definite opportunity there.
That is a good team for Marks. I see where Troy had a DB go in the 2nd rd as well. The number of early round draft picks that program cranks out is pretty remarkable.
The SEC has higher academic standards than the Sun Belt, so they get borderline academics and they get guys who's measurables are less than desirable.
What is says is that Larry's staff can evaluate, coach, and develop.

All good points, Jet. I just think it is pretty amazing the name that Troy has made for itself in such a short period of time. I always wondered what Blakeney could have done if given the chance at a big-time program. He is an excellent coach.

But it will never happen. All because he helped a married kid who was crazy as a loon and a wife who was crazy as a double loon, and got caught on tape.
Jet, I think you're right about his chances of landing a bigger job. I wonder if he ever thinks about what might have been, or if he has made peace with the past and accepted the reality of his situation. It is sad to me for him to be basically blackballed for the Ramsey fiasco.

I think it's both -- I'm sure he wonders, but I think he's made peace with it.
The thing I like about Larry is that he's confident enough in himself to be cool with the likes of Franklin taking the offense and running with it ... that's he's tough enough to make staff changes ... that he's willing to change how he does things.
