Spring winners
TUESDAY MORNING
Post No. 1,195
So that's another spring practice period in the books. All in all, it unfolded how I expected: Not much access, not much substance. That doesn't mean I'll keep my opinions to myself, of course, because a blog with no slog is a bore.
How do you feel about that?
I sometimes stroll down the avenue as people approach and ask: Mr. Tate, who surprised you this spring? My first instinct is to look for my dad, the real Mr. Tate, but he doesn't know anything about Auburn football. He's a Louisville graduate and a Tulsa fan.
You talkin' to me? Of course. Let me dish.

- Neil Caudle: Duh. Here's a kid whom many skeptics believed should be playing at Samford. Instead, he endured his season in exile and now appears to have become a serious contender for the starting job. It's important to note that the interceptions Tony Franklin hated so much really did occur. Still, the word I'm getting is that Caudle wasn't prone to interceptions this spring. He has a chance.
- Onterio McCalebb: He was supposed to be extremely quick and he is extremely quick. What I saw of him matched exactly what the scouting reports indicated. He looks like a future star to me. How far into the future? I think Auburn needs that home-run potential right now.
- Christian Thompson: I had a high opinion of him out of high school (he's a 2008 grad), but the safety driftd from my consciousness last year. That's what the scout team will do for you. I have heard surprisingly enthusiastic chatter about Thompson's refinement throughout the spring. I didn't get much of a chance to see him perform -- I spent most of my practice time watching offensive skill players -- but I expect Thompson to be a useful performer this fall.
- Clinton Durst: I'm not a football coach, but I know me and I know I'd have sent Durst packing this winter. He appeared to have left the team in January. He was upset that Auburn's new coaching staff hadn't yet offered him a scholarship. After the new coaching staff reaffirmed its position that Durst needed to prove himself in the spring, Durst lost his leverage. He came crawling back and did exactly what he said he wouldn't do: Competed for a spot without a scholarship in hand.
He had a good spring. He's a good punter. He'll likely earn that scholarship, but he should be grateful that Gene Chizik doesn't hold grudges.

PF- if those are your favorite players, you should stop wasting your time with hockey and stick to that ultimate fighter stuff.
One of the things I love most about hockey and baseball is there is always another game very soon after so you don't have to marinate in a loss.
BigCat,
Outside of the fact that he is a stone cold lock to Auburn anyway.. I have no idea.
my hockey favs- Mario, Jaromir, and Ronnie Francis
Maybe I will take up learning hockey and nascar as my new resolutions and try to expand my mind and experiences, but I'll have to start tomorrow. I really am going to bed, I have to get up early to go to Scottsboro to organize my sister.
That's pretty close to Pucking Crazy. Just sayin.
barkley - the topic (about 924 hours ago) was what Saban said and what the fans thought about it.
a few days ago he said bama had a culture where the expectations were too high and before that he said
"There's very little interest from our fans, our players or anybody else to play in the Sugar Bowl, which to me is a tremendous opportunity," Saban said. "I tried to tell everyone, you're only going to remember one thing about this game and that's the outcome. So there's no interest, there's no passion and everybody is embarrassed because of how we played. Well, it's because you didn't have any passion for it, you didn't have any interest in it, you didn't have any enthusiasm to do it, and that's across the board. And that's not right. We go to a BCS bowl game, everybody ought to be positive and enthusiastic about what we're doing."
My favorite hockey players are Reg Dunlop, Dave "Killer" Carlson, The Hanson brothers -- Dave, Jeff and Mark, and Ogie Oglethorpe.
I always loved watching Paul Kariya play, Forsberg during his MVP season was a joy to watch.
i just saw on AUundercover that sanders was hit in the face with a pitch tonight in an 8-2 loss to samford. broken jaw. sucks.
oh, I almost forgot... Manon Rheaume.
Cincy - I hate nascar. H A T E it.
I've been to one hockey game in my life and it was exciting. If I had to choose I'd go hockey unless there was a good auburn game on espn classics.
Hockey in person = much fun
Saban told him that his mom, dad, grandad, grandmoms, sister, brother, cousin, cousin's cousin, baby's mommma ALL had to show up to EVERY GAME. Owens told him that his grandmother couldn't come, so Saban pulled his offer...
FIGHT ON VS (for PF)
Ok, Monica, I'm with you. The only things I know about nascar is it is loud, hot and there are lots of girls in boob tube tops. And they are at least as old as me and definitely no longer have the boobs for the tubes.
Saban probably wanted to share a Little Debbie with him. Maybe Ladarius is a Swiss Roll kind of guy.
Didn't Bear Bryant also say, "When we win I give them (the players) all the credit and when we lose I take all the blame."?
I'll watch what I want to watch.
Jet, plenty of checking into the boards at Martinsville, Bristol, Richmond..
cincy- do you usually talk in your sleep?
Aight gang, talk to y'all tomorrow.
I'm a Swiss Roll kinda guy. Maybe I can give Ladarius the hookup.
I don't get Versus. I'm very upset by this. IRL and NHL are missing from my life without it.
Not often, I'm just afraid y'all will say something profound and I will miss it!
PF ...
Yeah, but it in hockey, they do it mano a mano -- with sticks. That's cool.
No fear, cincy.
i hate y'all for talking ice cream and swiss rolls.
I guess Jay G is shooting for 1000 on this one?
i would looove some blue bell ice cream with chocolate syrup and sprinkles right now..mmmmmmmmm
I've never been a fan of mma or boxing.
I'm going to be in Athens, TN on Saturday and I predict a Mayfield Ice cream factory tour.
Monica ...
If you don't go to Mayfield ... then I will say you're not bright. Again.
My favorite hockey fight, 41 yr old Gary Roberts of the Pens wailing on some 25 yr old hulk
I admire this old man
HA HA
Greg and I have been once. We didn't do the tour, just the tasting. This time it will be us, Dirty/hubby/babygirl and my Mother. I'm quite sure we'll be putting a dent in their supply.
Hit the Moose Tracks for me.
amy date at 7:00 - gnight hotties
I dunno, jet....you're not supposed to use your stick when checking an opponent into the boards. that leaves the mano a mano part. I think checking someone into the boards with your car when coming out of a turn at 70 miles per hour when coming out of a three wide turn is pretty exciting. I can't choose. They both rule.
They tried makin Ladarius commit on the spot and he said no, and Saban said he didn't want him..something of that nature
FSJ that statement about him feeling uncomfotable was kinda weird. Just not what you'd expect to hear. I sure hope he is an AU lock. Maybe he will commit this weekend when he comes.
Y'all make me proud, Monica!
Wow is that what happened Jhag?? That's crazy. Saban is becoming the Kanya West of SEC football. His ego is going to demand a seperate pay check at this rate.
Oh, a little stick handle in the ribs ... let 'im know you're there.
So, do we need to strike up some more UCLA conversation?
we should discuss the pro and cons of playing chattanooga or arky st.
Why was Ladarius Owens made to feel uncomfortable?
Saban pinched Ladarius' butt when they were in line for the Swedish meatballs at the recruiting reception.
UTC can be scary. Didn't we need a blocked punt TD to beat them 14-7 in '72?
Canucks sweep the Blues out of the playoffs
I still cant believe we didnt take the UCLA deal. Can someone explain the rationale for that decision in 10 words or less.
is that part of the "process"?
LOL Jet while you're playing my first thought was some inappropriate touching by Saban.
BigCat ...
This ain't Name That Tune. It would take me more than 10 words. But having relaunched the discussion at 10:13 a.m., I'll just say I think Auburn's decision was wise.
Neuheisel has a law degree, but Chizik only has some bogus master's in Guidance and Counseling. Would it really have been a fair game?
as long as terrell owen does not have any eligibility left for UTC, i think AU is pretty safe.
If Mrs. Jet read that PF, she would inappropriately touch you with a tire tool.
Just sayin'.
WE need to get Seastrunk and Lattimore to visit at the same time, bring them into the same office...put on tapes of Caddy and Ronnie, and Felix Jones and DMAC
Theres a small chance we land both...
“It just makes me feel good,” Lattimore says. “A running back can succeed in the offense. It has been proven today and with Darren McFadden and Felix Jones. Lache was telling me about it. Just the vision of me and him being back there at the same time would just be nasty. “It’s definitely something we’ve talked about,” he adds. “It could explode if we went to Auburn. He said (his visit to Auburn) was the best experience he’s ever had. He had a good time. He loves all the coaches and he likes the offense. He’s just anxious to see what they’re going to do this year.” Said Lattimore
http://www.adultswim.com/video/?episodeID=f9060b50b70a9b11530ed8108a31215a
i think i have discovered $aban's secret to getting so much work done in a single day. is that him in the video?
I hope Auburn doesn't blow it big time this year and lose the interest of some of these recruits.
oops. sorry, Mrs. Jet.
so Jet you approve of the decision to not play UCLA? Can you give me the guts of your reasoning?
Ya I'm thinking if we go 5-7 were gonna blow away all the 5-stars
7 wins or more should reel in a few
As long as we make LSU/GA/Bama games respectable, and hopefully grab one, the recruits should should be pleased.
The offense actually has to move though........forward.
Jhag I think if we can get Ben and Fannin and or Ontario to have big seasons, we have a good chance to close the deal with those two.
I dunno. 5 stars want to be somewhere they can contribute and be stars right away. The also want to win. It's a fine line. The key, when the record isn't so good, is convincing them that they are the missing link that will step on the field and instantly turn this losing team into a winning team. A good recruiter can do that.
I got the devil comment.
Ok I've heard AU fans say that hopefully we will not lose the games we should win like we did under Tubs. My question is can we win the games we're suppose to lose like under Tubs? I dont think either QB can "win" a game for us. I dont know if Chiz can out coach the big boys in the SEC but I think Malzahn can out think a few DCs in this league. That could at least buy us at least one upset right?
Of the projected 32 first round NFL draft picks, 7 of the players were 5* coming out of high school.
I agree..but its essential they get Seastrunk and Lattimore on the same official visit and bring them in a office together and show them RB duo's...this would be so wise im gonna call and tell CHIZI
Is Onterrio NFL eligible after 2 seasons at AU? Or just one? I'm thinking 2, but I don't remember his story.
BigCat (sorry folks for the rerun)...
We already have a BCS opponent on schedule for 2010. Playing two plus an 8 game SEC schedule with no bunnies is asking a lot for a second-year coach who may be starting a new QB.
We would lose a home game, which affects our bottom line and the Auburn community.
I also reject the supposed "benefits" of the game -- recruiting, exposure, etc. We're pretty much on TV 8-9 times a year as it is and we seem to be attracting attention from top recruits without the game.
I like our intended philosophy of one BCS level opponent and three lesser opponents (Division I, not I-AA).
Personally, I view the brouhaha as much about ego as anything else and the desire to get another big game on the ticket package. But there's a price tag to that, and I think Jay is wise to take a pass in 2010 and look toward setting up a series in 2012 (with someone) when Clemson rolls off. I realize I am decidedly in the minority opinion.
That's about it.
I want to play Notre Dame in 2012...
3-3 ducks & sharks
Jet- I share your minority opinion.
didn't JJ say ND and Big Ten schools didn't want to play AU?
Thanks for that recap Jet! I see what you're saying even though I'm still of the mindset that the UCLA game would have been great for many reasons recruiting being one of them since we have shifted our philosophy to a more hardcore GA focus.
I think I remember reading that somewhere... I still want to play them. Notre Dame, Michigan, Texas, Texas Tech, Mizzou, Miami...Those would all be AUsome OOC games.
I bet everyone is trying to play Notre Dame now...
Barkley ... I'd love it.
Jhag I like your idea but I would take it a step further. I'd have Caddy and Ronnie fly in that weekend and talk to the guys face to face.
Speaking of ND, is this Weis' last year if he doesnt turn that thing around? What if they fire him and hire Tuberville?
OOH boy, CAddy and Ronnie? They would committ on the spot
BigCat, there's good chance they'll both be injured that weekend, so it just might work.
those would be good games. Forget Wake or Duke as someone suggested a few pages back. Their stadiums are less than half the size of JH.
that same thought crossed my mind the other day bigcat.
i think consistency in coaching preparation and the ability to actually adjust to the flow of the game at halftime is something tub's staff never brought to the table. so far, it appears the new staff is going to demand excellence and attempt to motivate the team in a way tub's guys never quite did. and gus has proven at tulsa he can adapt his system to his personnel as well as what the other team tries to do to stop him.
when tubs pulled those rabbits out of his hat, it was usually because AU played a near perfect game under the right circumstances and the other team was unable to adapt to AU's gameplan. when AU laid an egg, it was usually AU's inability or unwillingness to adapt to the wrinkles the other team threw at them be offense or defense.
Let's get Iowa State and Paul Rhoads on the schedule
that was me suggesting wake or duke. i was just reaching for some games jj would not be afraid to schedule.
Phelon Jones is transferring and said Auburn was the first school he wanted to look at but it isnt gonna work out? do we not have room cause he wanted to come and we could use him...now it looks like hes a bammer
AU Big cat!!! now were talking!
chip chip,
I'm still pissed at wake and the refs for stealing a game from us in 1979. AU was up 38-20 at half and lost 42-38. (wake is still my 2nd fav ACC team, though). Duke? I just don't like them at all any more.
a not-so-classic tubby egg was the 2000 MSU game. mazzone said AU was going to come out and run right at the MSU DL. he did for 3-1/2 quarters and got zippo. all of the sudden AU started passing and made it interesting for about 5 minutes.
i don't see gus falling into that trap easily.
If Tuberville got the Texas A&M job, that would be another good one to schedule.
again, if jones couldn't cover the corndog WRs in practice he can't cover them in a game. pass.
where are you reading he wants to go to bama?
I have to agree with the CGC on the Phelon Jones decision. We have at least on JUCO CB that will be here in the Fall. Two if Desmond Washington decides that the line at RB is too long (which he should). We are set at the CB position. Use that scholly on an OL or LB.
doesn't bamah already have like 6 5-star CBs anyway?
Chip Chip ...
U are right regarding Phelon Jones.
We're looking for guys that can start in this league ... not sit on the bench.
i think jones looked a mizzou too. apparently they passed as well.
Gotta go to bed.
Working on the 2012 schedule ... avoiding real teams like the plague.
Opening with Smiths Station (and Ensminger), also scheduling the University of Phoenix, DeVry Institute and Bobbi Sue McAvoy's School of Cosmetology.
700
Ha, Smiths Station
i guess he could alway try memphis if bama passes too. he looks to have an affinity for teams with a tiger mascot.
schedule slippery rock!
they were a power back in the days of the horse and buggy!
Wow 700+!! Jay is gonna have kittens in the morning!
Goodnight folks! Maybe we can reach a grand before 9am.
Can someone tell Lebo that Daniel Miller, a 6-foot-11, 240-pound center from Loganville Christian Academy is available. He graduates from HS next month, and had originally signed with UGA, but got released from his LOI yesterday after deciding he didn't want to play for a new coach.
Yall are crazy if you don't want Phelon Jones...don't you know or depth issues and injury issues and so on?
just looked at florida's rivals page.. they already have eight 4 stars and a 5 star for the 10 class
"It just didn't work out at LSU," Jones said. "I just didn't get the playing time I was looking for."
because he could not cover corndog WRs in practice well enough to beat out more talented underclassmen.
i want 3-4 years from a good scholarship CB not two of maybe starting and whining if he doesn't.
if a player is recruited by UAT, LSU, UF, UGA, UT, FSU, Ohio State, Michigan, ND, TX, etc. they are going to get mysterious extra stars. those fanbases pay the bills at the pay sites more than AU, Ole Miss, etc. not that the evaluations are not relatively accurate, i'm just sure they pander to sell subscriptions more than some fans would like to think.
gnite.
Jet- I feel so ashamed that I missed that reference...my line is...put your trust in the Lord...your a** belongs to me..welcome to Shawshank...
the thread that would never die..less than 300 to 1000 can it be done...
chip- that makes perfect sense about the stars for a recruits..I agree completely.
This Is a large thread post sesh
I wanna play the Fightin' Okra dangit!
as much as I would like to continue to add to this substance I gotta pass out..I mean go to sleep..goodnight hotties..fun day today..thanks..
Good morning, hotties!! Does hump day calm your feelings about the UCLA scheduling debacle/nondebacle?
Good morning, Hotties! Not that anyone cares what I think, but I'm already tired of hearing about the whole UCLA thing. Auburn made their decision. Any amount of complaining is not going to change anything (right, Hoopie?) The only thing I'm not happy about is ESPN providing a link to Scarbinsky's article...Auburn doesn't need more negative press nationally.
It's my Friday!
Luv ...
This subject MUST be deeply explored -- like a colonoscopy.
Good morning Hotties - I'm on day 3 of the peace and solitude tour in the gatiger household while the wife & son are out of town until next week. I'm ready for the noise again. But, I digress. My personal woes have nothing at all to do with the woeful state of leadership in the AU Athletic Department. If AU isn't going to play the likes of UCLA, they should then be a Regional team. If they're a Regional team, let's line up against ALL of the in-state schools, not just UAT. Bring on UAB, bring on UAH, USA, Troy, Samford, and whatever other podunk schools are out there like UWA (I have no idea if they have a football team).
I for one am perfectly willing to gripe and moan about this issue until August when I'll find another topic.
"And on this issue, there cana be NO debate!" -- Poppie
Monica,
Why would you ever want to take a trip to Athens, TN?
Chipchip,
The 2000 Miss State game was terrible. I beleive it was the 3rd quarter before we even got a 1st down...that's with Rudi Johnson and Heath Evans in the backfield.
Oh...and I don't like hockey or nascar.
I can deal with a hockey game live in person, but not a big fan.
GaTiger,
I have yet begun to debate.
Jet, it's been explored and dissected, like an autopsy.
As Kris Kristofferson said in the vastly underrated "Payback," ... or at least something like this ... "I'll give you a blood transfusion and keep you alive for three weeks so I can kill you slowly."
Yummm ... fried okra.
Througout my entire life, I doubt the sum total of time I've spent watching anything NASCAR related (this includes local news updates/stories, SportsCenter, etc) would amount to a single hour.
I know nothing about Hockey other than you want the puck to go in the other goal and I've watched even less of that on tv. BUT, my company has a Suite at Philips which comes with most excellent seats. I've been to several hockey games via those seats and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I had no idea what I was seeing, but it's definitely a fun evening.
Now, back to UCLA and the sad state of affairs...
726 .. you kids were having fun yesterday
Lots of great hockey last night.
I LOVE fried okra, but only the way MrsTHT & MissTHT cook it.
deep like a colonoscopy? That was funny, Jet.
Yes, Luv, we haven't yet discussed the impact the UCLA decision could have on the black market price of blue jeans in Uzbekistan. THere is so much yet to cover re: the UCLA issue.
Unfortunately, y'all will have to carry the UCLA discussion for a while. I've got a huge amount of work staring at me right now.
Cheerio
Monica- Mayfields is the only thing in Athens, TN to see. Of course, the "Lost Sea" is not too far away. That is pretty close to where I am from.
There are some monster fish in the Lost Sea.
I think Jay Jacobs believes UCLA stans for "U Could Loose Again" if you schedule them.
Nothing like spending a boy scout trip at the Lost Sea spending the night.
Good morning all. Nothing going on except for on the HABOTN....gotta love it. JGT is flipping out somewhere.
I think last time the thread count was this high, some of us were put in timeout after hitting 1000
When does the crowd calender come out for HABOTN? According to my research, this was supposed to be the value season with low attendance, yet i'm starring at a 700+ post count.
We may have to debate the UCLA game or lack there of until at least July for SEC media days.
At least with a colonoscopy you get anesthesia.
RK - We're headed to Athens to meet my sister and crew to pick up my Mother who is coming for a visit.
Athens, TN was the first place I lived after Auburn graduation. It was beautiful. Wifey and I loved it.
Yeah, we're a regional program if we don't play UCLA.
We've finished in the polls 18 out of the last 25 years ... were ranked in the poll two other years.
Of those seven times we didn't make the final poll, we won at least 7 games three of those seasons.
Got regional program written all over us.
It's about a 5 hour drive for us which beats having to drive 9 to B'ham. to get Muuutha.
Monica,
I've been to Athens several times. I grew up across the river from there in Dayton, TN.
Jet,
I admire your passion for your side of the UCLA argument, but I still have yet to find an answer that satisifies my "why would we not want to play UCLA" question.
Hey, did y'all hear that we're not playing UCLA? Discuss.
Can everyone agree that Jay Jacobs stinks regardless of your position of the UCLA game?
Eddie - YES.
I can't agree. I'm too ignorant to form an opinion based on internet chatter.
Eddie,
My answer is yes, I think it's probably everyones answer as well.
I'll hold out my answer of that being a universal yes until I see SteveFC's response.
RK..
I see you live in Chattanooga. I built a middle school in Chatsworth 2 years ago.
I made an attempt to hit every barbecue joint in town. Master Blaster was my favorite.
I've been watching for an answer to that question too, RK.
Master Blaster is excellent. I've always been partial to Rib & Loin.
Ok, I'll just say no. I'd hate for us to have a "universal" opinion.
You can't go wrong with a BBQ place who's phone numbers are 877-PORK & 499-OINK.
You have to love Steve's answers.
If I recall correctly, Steve was 100% for retaining Tuberville, but he also believes this program is 4+ years away from being back? He makes me laugh out loud. Steve is the Ying to the Yang.
why am I here. I'm supposed to be working.
RK- I second that with Pork & Loin. I think they are the best in Chattanooga, behind my Dad's :)!
THT- I believe that probably applies to most of us here.
Compare the (lack of) UCLA game to the film Marly and Me.
Peter,
I haven't seen either.
Geez, Marley and Me. That movie is at the house and my wife want's to watch it. I'd rather not, so does that mean I'd rather not play UCLA....?
I'd rather draw an analogy between Chiz/Josey Wales and Saban/Red Legs
PF - the lack of a UCLA game and the blatant disregard for AU fandom by JJ absolutely stinks. As for Marley and Me, the book made me cry and so did the movie even though I knew what to expect.
So there. I've admitted it. I've cried at a book and a movie (actually a number of movies). But that has nothing to do with the shameful UCLA situation.
Oh my gosh. My 6 yr old girl watched Marley & Me over the weekend. There were gut wrenching sobs involved.
THT..
Is Trooper Chief Dan George?
ehyou
lol-I loved Chief Dan George
I guess JJ would be Fletcher
i'm assuming Marley dies at the end. i don't have much desire to see that b/c i'm sure i'd cry too. my dogs are my life.
scottie b - ditto
scottie...
It was brutal. I wasn't actively watching, but was in the room. My wife compared it to Where The Red Fern Grows in terms of tears, if that tells you anything.
THT - I liked the Chief too, especially in Little Big Man.
THT & Scottie B - ditto again. The wife and I cried at the book and the movie because we've experienced many parallels with the story. Our Golden Retriever version of Marley is still with us after 10.5 years. She's never been boarded. If she can't go out of town with us or the in-laws can't keep her, we stay home.
Before I go to work ...
Jay Jacobs = mediocre to weak AD. Not dreadful. Just not good. The rest is just whining about those who really make the decisions.
After Ol' Yeller, I don't watch dog centric movies. I'll cry at a commercial.
If a BBQ joint or a hamburger joint has a web site, watch out. Not sayin' it ain't good, I'm just sayin' watch out.
OINK in the telephone number? It's got a chance to be a good place.
For BBQ and burgers and such, the smaller the menu the better.
I'm just hoping to be alive in 25 years when we return from the Steve-imposed wilderness walk for Auburn football.
And I had no idea that 22 hours ago when I posted my treatise that I would launch a thousand hells.
What a great day.
I was still crying as I exited the cinema after Watching Marley and me. I've only cry at football games when there is an eagle circling around the stadium. The UCLA game wouldn't elicit such a response if it were to be played.
Being an animal lover myself, I refuse to watch sad animal movies or commericals with Sarah McLachlan on them.
Agree, again, 100% with RK.
Those Sarah M. commercials are gut wrenching.
UCLA scheduling issue.
Jet - You are absolutely right on the BBQ/burger comments. May I suggest you never eat at The Pit in Raleigh. What a marketing genius. A BBQ joint that requires reservations, has a bar, etc. We didn't know any of that when we showed up for supper on a Sat evening. Food wasn't bad, but certainly not as good as we had for lunch earlier that day in a BBQ joint converted from a filling station in 1938 (and not changed much since).
PeterF- yep, that eagle will do it to me, too. WAR EAGLE!!!
Have I seen the Sarah McLachlan commercials? Do I know who y'all are talking about? What is her opinion of AU playing UCLA?
Pardon my ignorance; but, what are these Sarah M commercials to which you refer? Outside of news or sport events, anything I watch on tv is via the DVR so I'll zip past the commercials.
My wife would board me before boarding our baby. We rarely take her with us, so our neighbor takes good care of us while we're gone. That way, Molly gets to sleep in her own bed (the one she so kindly shares with us).
those Sara M. commercials....i have to change the channel. i want to adopt all those little doggies.
oops, the neighbor takes good care of Molly, not us. We can take care of ourselves. Well, my wife can take care of both of us. I've been told I can't take care of myself.
The Sarah McLachlan commericals are her showing all of these sad pets who need homes and make it feel like if you personally don't adopt those pets that you are responsible for their death.
They aren't the standard 30 or 60 second commericals, they are 2-3 mins long and it has her song "Angel" playing in the background just to make it sound sadder.
I usually catch the commercial during NCIS or House reruns on USA.
It's not that we don't want to play UCLA, it's just that we won't. Yes Jacobs is a buffoon. Yes Sarah McLaughlan commercials are terrible...and I won't ever watch a movie where I know a dog dies at the end.
THT,
Interesting enough, because of my inability to control my emotions with the eagle , I knew I'd get along with my finacee's father the first time I went to a UGA game with him. As the lone trumpet player was playing Glory from the corner of the stadium, I looked over and noticed he was tearing up. That kind of love and dedication hit home with me.
Some guy named Finebaum reported that
Auburn In Store For Tough Year. Is he always this eloquent and flattering?
Finebaum is wheat in the wind, if the wind blows our way, he'll be talking us up very soon.
Speaking of F-baum, he was quite put-off by the Saban comments Re: fans. Everytime someone tried to justify it to him, he would cut them off and go to a break.
2009 could be a very tough year for us. I really can't argue much with Finebaum's 6-6 prediction (except that I think we will win in Knoxville), or his assessment of Jay Jacobs.
Is there something wrong with me (this is a rhetorical question) because I probably wouldn't have married if it wasn't to an Auburn girl?
with our lack of depth, especially as related to OL, our season could get ugly with just a few key injuries.
Well guys just some perspective...Bammer was coming off a less than stellar season, had depth issues at OL, didn't have a QB that could do much or any real playmakers outside of a true freshman, had a solid defense that was dependent on a couple of new comers producing....sound familiar?
A big difference is JPW was a 5th year senior and a veteran of the SEC wars.
Senior starting QB's with SEC experience are always worth a few wins each year, no matter how limited they seem heading into their senior year.
If Pugh gets injured(knock on wood), can one of the scholarship longsnappers short snap so that a guard doesn't have to be moved over?
usually the long snappers are barely over 200 lbs. That could potentially create a serious problem up front.
I'm sure it's possible, but for the most part the long snappers are a lot smaller and lighter than a normal center since they also run down on special teams on punts.
RK I'm tired of your naysaying and lack of Kool-Aid consuming! Let me pump my sunshine while I still can.
Thank you for that RK. I wanted to say that yesterday when the comparison was made, but couldn't bring myself to publicly praise a bama player.
it is nice to know we have that kind of depth at long snapper, though.
unbelievable. how did you guys get to nearly 800 posts. You'd think we turned down a chance to play a high profile national TV kickoff classic agianst a division 1 team.
F-baum looks like he came in from a 3 Martini Lunch to pose for that al.com picture
let's turn the page so I don't have to scroll so far
Is it a record?
I didn't praise a Bama player, just seniors with experience playing in the SEC. It means far more than you think...sometimes far more than talent.
yeah, forgot about the size difference. Just trying to think out the solution to that potential nightmare. I'm crossing my fingers and wearing a horseshoe around my kneck for even thinking bad thoughts like that.
Sweet Banana Nut Bread! over 800 posts?!
