Chizik speaks, nebulously

So there was a rumor going around that DB Aairon Savage recently suffered an injury while working out.

Coach Gene Chizik took the surprising step of acknowledging that bit of information this afternoon.

"Aairon Savage did suffer an injury while working out, and at this time,
the extent of the injury is still being evaluated by our medical staff."

Auburn has not acknowledged the type of injury involved. He missed the 2008 season with a torn knee ligament.

Will Aaron Savage want to return for a 6th year, if it becomes available? That has to be very discouraging after rehabbing to recover from the knee injury. Would love to see him return, Savage is a hell of a player.

I really hate to see this for the kid. He has been waiting too long to play. Yes, this is bad for Auburn, but it is worse for Savage. My prayers are with him. I do think he would have been a starter, but fortunately for us, DB is where we have our most depth defensively.

I think Tez Doolittle may have spoiled you all a little.

Achilles injuries are particularly nasty and difficult to rehabilitate fully.

5:10 PM
Blogger wartiger said...

Jay-What does Tez have the Aairon doesn't? Is it the seriousness of the injury that allowed Tez to come back and be successful?

5:18 PM
Blogger AUfan said...

I just wonder after missing two full seasons if he wants to try coming back again. Sometimes, it's better just to move on.

5:24 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

If I am Savage I would try to make the best of it. He can get his degree and move into graduate school. If he can then heal, maybe he has a shot as a great season. I believe he was all SEC as a freshman.

One thing about Savage on the field- he was totally fearless. A hitting machine.

Pardon me if I am wrong, but doesn't Aairon already have his degree and currently working on his master's?

That's a tough injury. Jay is definitely correct in saying that Tez spoiled us. That type of recovery is definitely not the norm.

Coach Chizik has the vague-speak down pat. Is it really giving your competition an advantage (at this point) to just tell the story?

I don't blame Chizik for not wanting to say definitely that Savage is gone. I don't think they have a definitive answer yet, but it doesn't sound good.

THT - I'm looking at something else on my local library website and I saw that we can access this:

Digital Sanborn Maps, 1867-1970, provides access to more than 660,000 large-scale maps of more than 12,000 American towns and cities. In electronic form, Sanborn Maps take on much improved value over the microfilm versions of the same maps, allowing for greater flexibility of use and improved viewing possibilities. Users have the ability to easily manipulate the maps, magnify and zoom in on specific sections, and layer maps from different years.

8:05 PM
Blogger ehyou said...

I'm not saying I want Chizik to say Savage is gone. But how about some details. What was he doing when the injury occurred? What's the initial prognosis of the severity of the injury? Just give me the facts, is that so hard?

THT - the answers you'll get here on your TV topic are as varied as the individuals providing them. I, on the one hand am a solid SONY XBR man. Others will have other preferences and their reasons for them. If I'm not mistaken, by and large the internal components all come from the same one or two places regardless of the spelling on the front of the tv. Find a picture you like and go with it. You'll likely be glad you did. Especially in about 80 days.
