Troy LB commits

Jawara White, a 6-foot-2 linebacker from Charles Henderson High, has announced plans to sign with Auburn in February. We know this because our friends at AuburnSports, AUTigers and Auburn Undercover say so.

Scout and Rivals, the top two scouting services, rate White as a three-star recruit (out of 5) and consider him one of the nation's 20-30th best outside linebackers.

He also had offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss and a bunch of other major schools.

White is the sixth member of the Tigers' 2010 commitment class. Other members include:
OL Shon Coleman, Olive Branch, Miss.
LB Jake Holland, Pelham
ATH Shaun Kitchens, Atlanta, Ga.
K Cody Parkey, Jupiter, Fla.
WR Jeremy Richardson, Springville

Tip 1. Pocket protectors are redundant in a lab coat.

Tip 2. With a PhD, you don't need a pocket protector to make you a geek.

Rivals considers the top 25 recruits for every team.

Recruiting rankings, stars or championships are pointless. The only thing that matters is how many schools were recruiting the guy.

Brethren, I walked outside this morning to grab my morning Agonizer, and to roll out the trash. I took a deep breath.

There was a familiar smell in the air. An odor that hinted of humidity and freshly cut grass. That odor that when mixed with the pungent smell of sweat creates the sweet perfume of football season.

And though it wasn't there, I could have sworn I heard a whistle tweeting, and the perpetual collision of young men in helmets and shoulder pads.

Somewhere, deep in my mind's eye, I could see mano a mano Oklahoma drills, and the relentless pounding of up-downs, and the never-ending running of the same play.

The same trap play run over and over. First, it was ragged, almost indistiguishable, then slowly refined into perfection, and ultimately into a brutal ballet.

Eighty-eight days, you tell me. No, it starts today. It starts today.

Rejoice, brethren, and be glad.

I have not seen it, but I will still give you my best guess as to what the sunglasses mean.

The old transformers catch phrase was "more than meets the eye," and I think that the sunglasses where a metaphor for that theme. Transformers look like trucks and boats and stuff, but then they change. You can't judge them by their appearances. In the same way, the sunglasses meet grandpa's eye. But they are more. So much more. They are also fashionable and protect him from harmful UV rays. Like the Transformers themselves, they are more than meets the eye.

That's what I thought too. However the glasses got broken on the north pole (supposedly 'saving' the last image in the process, of the magnatron thing) whereas the cube was supposed to be under the Hoover dam. Also the magnatron thing was transported to a convenient location under the dam.

I'm so confused, even Megan Fox can't make me watch it again.

Scottie, Eddie & Harrison,

Living in Chattanooga I avoid Riverbend as much as possible.

The worst part is, they apparently open up neighborhoods deep in the mountain that never get out except for the week of Riverbend, because I'm just amazed at the people who show up for it.

The planners have a different idea of what headline acts are for my tastes as well.

They could do so much with that festival if they would condense it from 8 days to 3 or 4 and spend the money on bigger acts.

However if you came to see Skynyrd when they were here, then you got to see the worst of the worst, because people who hadn't seen the light of day from their corner of the mountain came out that day.

A cur is also a squirrel dog. They are very similar to the feist, with a bit longer legs. While there are no official breed standards, there are certain traits that squirrel dog breeders cultivate.

he's actually pretty chill THT. he only really wants to bark at my cat. we wrestled yesterday and he seemed to really like that. he's a bit clumsy. i'm guessing b/c he's still pretty young. he's a trip going up and down the back stairs.

I meant to mention yesterday that the look on Chevy's face in ehyou's avatar makes me think that there should have been a dutch oven scene in Fletch (or in one of the Vacation movies, for that matter. European Vacation could have used one).

That scene would have been set in the Netherlands, by the way.

the only reason I know about Plott hounds is that breed is the official state dog, having originated in the NC mountains.

there are only a few dog breeds of American origin, the Plott hound being one.

HABOTN is so educational, JayGT should put it on the Discovery Channel

If you are in the mood for comedy, check out Finebaum's article on AL.com. He blames Tuberville for starting the talk about Saban cheating in recruiting. I guess the thought that Saban and his beloved Tide WERE cheating never crossed his mind. I think PF would be happier if everyone just silently fumed about Saban's recruiting methods. Jet was right when he talked about how things have changed since the old days.

THT.. dunno where Chiz is Chillin. But Tubs is chilling somewhere close to you on a golf course. He's on the Coachs vs Cancer golf tournament.

Linky Dink

Tubs was on the 'coaches' side. They invited tony franklin to play on the 'cancer' side but he declined with some incoherent ramblings about religion.

Yahoo's finance page names Auburn as one of the top 10 places to live in America.

Here is their write up.

For Southern charm with collegiate vigor, consider Auburn, Ala. This diamond on the eastern Alabama plains has a population of just under 50,000 and is home to Auburn University. On football Saturdays, when die-hard fans arrive in droves to cheer their beloved Tigers, Auburn swells to the state's fifth-most-populous city. And as Auburn's largest employer, the university also plays a starring role in the local economy.

With mild winters and hot summers, the city offers no shortage of outdoor recreation opportunities. Find a nice hiking trail in the 696-acre Chewacla State Park before cooling off with an afternoon swim. Take a stroll through the Donald E. Davis Arboretum, located on the Auburn University campus.

Golfers can head to nearby Grand National golf course and wend their way through the state along the beautiful Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. "Once you have been there, you just want to come back," says John Cannon, president of SunBelt Golf Corp., which manages the trail.
