Recruiting chatter, Tuesday
Hey everyone. My little soiree with the Biscuits has ended, so I'm back to reclaim my title as Montgomery's fittest Auburn bloggist.

Of note:
- NEW AS OF NOON: LB Jessel Curry of Buford, Ga., has committed to the Tigers. We know this because our friends at AuburnUndercover.com and AUTigers.com say so. He is the seventh player to commit -- and the third linebacker.
Scout.com has Curry ranked as a 3-star. Rivals.com hasn't yet assessed him. - Our friends at AuburnSports.com reported yesterday that Arkansas TB Michael Dyer (left) had a swell unofficial visit to the Plains last weekend. Lache Seastrunk and Marcus Lattimore get a lot of hype, but Dyer also is a game-changing back with significant interest in the Tigers. I think he'll ultimately be worth watching more than the other two guys because Auburn has an Arkansas specialist (Gus Malzahn) on staff ... whose offensive marketing will sink in with Dyer. Oh, and Dyer has identified Auburn as his No. 1 team. For now.
- I've been getting questions about QB Tyrik Rollison lately, which surprises me a tad. Yes, I believe he's going to qualify. Enrolling at Auburn will not make him a candidate to play this fall. The videos I watched -- you probably saw the same stuff -- showed me a versatile player who will need Malzahn to streamline his throwing mechanics. I don't believe Rollison will be a factor at quarterback this season. Neil Caudle and Kodi Burns have a lot of experience ... and a major head start in Applied Malzahnetics.
- Birmingham LB LaDarius Owens (right) has been making himself visible at Auburn lately. He was part of Big Cat Weekend, then Owens rolled through campus last weekend after visiting his uncle. You old-timers know that uncle as James Owens, Auburn's first black scholarship signee. That was 1969. Now it's LaDarius Owens intriguing the Tigers' coaching staff. The Jess Lanier High linebacker, whose responsibilities often mimic a defensive end's, holds offers from dozens of schools. He has been non-committal about his college plans so far.

BRAND spanking new page smell.
norm u go
michael dyer can scoot
Way to go Norm.
Thanks, JayG.
Saban tried to sell his soul to the devil for a NC. AFter running his name through the database, it was realized Saban had already sold his soul once in the 70's for BeeGees tickets and again in the 80's for half a malomar.
nice avatar ehyou.
Tony Clifton says you're very lucky to be in his presence today.
Malomar?
Malomar
malomar rules
I would not like to eat that.
you wouln't eat malomar? How bout the scandanavian/viking cheese made from rotting shark flesh? It's not all that bad, but i'd choose malomar.
I read that there are season ticket packages available and you don't have to pay the TU donation. Folks get our there and buy them!
Applied Malzahnetics = substance.
With Tyrik, I think it important to keep things in perspective. This guy could very well become the next Kodi Burns, meaning the QB that fans think will save the day but just isn't ready.
Also, I think Tyrik has been overhyped because of his ranking as the second best dual threat QB. Burns was ranked high on that list too, I believe around eight.
Tyrik wasn't nearly as highly sought after as many seem to believe. Take a list of his offers coming out of high school. Burns, Caudle, and Todd all had similar type attention. Of the four of them, Todd probably had the most impressive offer list.
I am not trying to be negative. I just see us waste to many good QBs by putting unrealistic expectations on them. Hopefully in a couple of years Tyrik will be a great quarterback for us. He just isn't the sure fix some seem to believe.
Jay, your ability to come up with phrases is uncanny. You're a credit to the blogosphere.
Steve, Tryik was a Parade All American at QB. Those don't make their way to the Plains all that often. Also, he was ranked in the top 5 in every category in which a QB can be ranked over at the rivals main page. He was considered a risk as a qualifier, which, is why many schools went in a different direction. Not saying he will be better than Kodi Burns but this kid has caught the eye of a lot folks.
Is there anything that ISN"T on wiki?
Is Applied Malzahnetics going to be offered as an online course? Where do I sign up?
mrtommyd - the 1957 Auburn Tiger football team numerical roster is not on Wiki.
I have James Owens chiseled in at #43 on our countdown; I didn't even consider any others. He's a hero in my book.
Neither is applied malzahnetics. Some reference site.
However it does list Auburn as having 8 national championships
I once traded all my wordly possessions for a thermos, because that's all I need
speaking of......... THT, whose day is it today? what #?
if it's 86, i nominate #86 Walter Reeves.
Scottie B - we've already had Walter Reeves Day
Today is Frank Sanders Day; T-minus 81 til K)
(announced early in the a.m. on old thread)
man, i am way behind. this work thing screws me all up.
All Hail Frank Sanders! Sweet!
Jay G is back in the Hizzay!
Aubie - did someone pick out the thermos for you?
Tribute:
"he's gonna loft one to Frank Sanders.... OH he caught it.... Frank Sanders caught it....Touchdown Auburn...Touchdown Auburn...."
Good Lord...I've heard of this...cat juggling!
Well that's better than telling them they're going to be in pictures
Mobilz...
That's a nice tribute to both Sanders and Fyffe.
That's SWEET Mobilz! Thanks and a big WARRRRRR EAGLE!!!
Did you know that I'm hatin' bama today. It feels so good.
Jessel Curry just committed to Auburn.
that didn't take long. :) WDE Curry.
Wasn't he the guy that started out with WV?
Okay, I'm tired of looking in the window. I've been around a long time so now I'm finally knocking. May I come in?
THT - I was at Auburn in the early 70"s and I remember #43 Owens. Thomas Gossom came soon after and he was #49.....did you ever fill in #49?
Jay G. - As much as I love being a 'homie', thank you for your unbiased reporting as I sometimes need to be reminded that not everybody can be as lucky as I am to be an Auburn Tiger!
And for the record....my name is missinit and 'bama nauseates me!
Someone come save me from an afternoon of writing test scripts!
Re: Curry, that's great news!
Welcome missinit! You don't have to knock, just come on in.
Welcome, missinit!
missinit - WAR EAGLE and do come in!!!
welcome!
THT is counting down the days till AU football 2009 kicks off. we'll be @ #49 in a few weeks. ;)
So you're a homey of mine?
missinit - did you see Thom Gossom get pushed out of bounds in '74 by bama db? He gets penalized for catching the ball instead of a getting a TD. Pass interference...of course not. Probably same REC paid officials as were at the '67 game.
Come on..JayG! An Auburn homey, homie, or however you spell it.......but I can be your homey/homie too, LOL!!!!!!
Missinit, this one goes out to all my homies....
War Eagle, hate UAT!
if you haven't read Thom Gossom's autobiography WALK ON it's a good read for any AU fella or gal.
As long as you're not a homer, not that there's anything wrong with it.
Hello Missinit.
WDE Jessel.
good rice, good Curry, praise Gandhi lets hurry.
Thom Gossom has been in a boatload of shows on TV.
Trying to recall how to link without looking it up...
Thom Gossom interview
Welcome missinit!
If you were homer-sexual, would that mean you were only attacted to folks who are exhibit a strong bias for their local team?
Gossom also had a cameo as a detective/cop in my favorite movie ever, FIGHT CLUB.
THT -Funny that you mention that Gossom catch. The other night I read in an interview where Thom talked about that very play. That call sucked...royally!!
Thom Gossom's book Walk On
missinit - the stabler run, the gossom non-TD... how else do you figure I developed such a strong hatred of UA-T.
I'm hatin' more and more every second. It's a healthy hate ;-)
WARRRRR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!
something like that Will. Kind of like your man-crush on me.
Or like your disgusting attraction to super fat Kelly Clarkson?
Welcome to the HABOTN, Missinit.
Ehyou - Yes, Curry was the guy who had early intentions of going to WVU. He is healed.
It may have helped that WVU withdrew their scholarship offer after Curry was found to have a full set of teeth.
The Curry commitment is interesting. We now have 3 linebacker commitments and from what I have read, we plan to sign 4.
The thing is, we still have a lot of good linebackers on our wish list including Owens, Terrel, Fortt, and Cornileus.
We seem to have an overcrowding situation developing at linebacker, but seeing as we lack depth there, it might not be a bad thing.
it didn't stop Bama last year. didn't they take like 12 linebackers? something crazy?
(j/k...sorta. i know it wasn't 12)
We don't have an overcrowding situation until a LOI is signed.
I just ordered my copy of WalkOn. I sure wish I could meet all my former AU football heros. I'd be like a 5 year old getting to meet the real Santa Claus.
I think we'll find another spot for Kitchens. Isn't he supposed to be fairly versatile?
Will what do you have against "super fat" Kelly?
Yes, Will, when it comes to Auburn,I admit to being a homer-sexual as are most of you. Come on, 'mit it!!! Other than that I'm like an arrow!!!!!
Linebackers are good in that some can usually play other positions, whether it be safety or defensive end.
Will- I liked her before she was fat, now I partake in fat Kelly Clarkson jokes for fun
Poor Brett Favre doesn't know how to bow out gracefully.
I hate that my sports world has revolved around Brett Favre lately. Every medium has something to say about him and the HABOTN was clean, until now, thanks Mon!
fat jokes are super cool
you're welcome, Sean
www.auburnsports.com has the Curry article up now.
i didn't realize his dad Buddy Curry played for the Atlanta Falcons. cool. the kid seems to have his head on straight.
Kitchens is recruited as WR. That's my understanding from what I've heard.
Curry made his intentions well known after BCW. It took a while because .. well.. Curry's father played under WVU's Coach Stewart at UNC.
Curry also played FB in HS, I believe.
Monica, you are kidding about the fat jokes, right?
Seanzie, I take it your not a fan of Favre?
Though not rated very highly by so-called recruiting experts this kid seems to have his head on straight. Not only does he have the NFL pedigree but he is graduating in December so he will enroll early. And to top that he helps his dad run camps for underprivliged kids around the southeast. Solid pick-up.
i love me some Favre too, but this is getting old. he needs to chill with his wife & family. keep making Wrangler commercials. :)
I didn't realize Curry was the son of The Great Buddy Curry, former All-ACC linebacker at UNC.
that wrangler commerical is ridiculous. No one is even guarding that guy and Farve's throw is still so bad he has to dive for it. He is so washed up.
I can't stand Brett, the NFL World obviously revolves around me, Favre.
Yes, Luv, I was being facetious because I can't type what I'm really thinking.
The news about Aairon Savage tearing his achilles and being out for the year is terrible. Hope his recovery goes well.
Great news on Curry. He looks like a faster version of Will Herring. wde
What up missinit! Welcome to the HABOTN!
Still pleased with how 'cruitin is going.
Thanks for the update JayG hope all is well in your world man..
Farve needs to retire to his 20,000 sf house on 1000 acres down in Hattiesburg, Ms.
Curry plays for Buford in Ga., which is a AA HS football factory. They regularly beat top-rated AAA and AAAA teams. Those kids are tuff and fundamentally sound. How well will that translate to the SEC...we'll see.
Someone posted over on AUNation that Aairon Savage tore his achilles tendon and is out for the season.
Curry can fly for a LB! I'll take him.
We plan to sign at least 4 LB. Likely 5, and if Fortt, Mosely, Cornelious want in too, we find room.
I could see Owens eventually being a hybrid rush end type.
What I like is that they are all big and fast.
missinit.....Welcome to the HABOTN. The water is deep and it is safe to dive in.
missinit...except watchout for that chick named Monica...she can slice you up if you step outta line.
oh c'mon now Hoppie..it's more of a cut than a slice man!
I am a gentle, delicate, Southern Belle and I'll fight anyone who claims otherwise.
:-)
missinit, welcome.
By the way, I have found my special purpose.
Aubie- was it in your thermos?
Harrison, that made me laugh.
Wait, it's 2009... that made me LOL.
This is the best pizza in a cup ever.
I'm starving. I haven't eaten in almost 2 hours. I'm looking for trouble. What does trouble look like, you ask? It looks like that pound cake and those chocolate chip cookies that MrsTHT made for our GA friends arriving this evening.
What If we don't sign any if these RBs =O
He hates the cans!
jhag - in that case, I'll put a buzz in CGC's ear that we sign you... case solved.
I hate it when I get a buzz in my ear... or a bug.
I also hate it when a little birdie tells me things.
I really hate it when I get a bug up my...
never mind.
I'm waiting to see where Lache Seastrunk goes he's my buddy and we facebook chat all the time about playing in the same offense
Jhag,
Don't talk like that. Such nonsense!
Didn't you know, we're going to sign all of them, plus a couple more.
This is Jet B. Cue, reporting live from Sprayberry's in Newnan, Ga.
All is well. Back to you.
Jet - if you absolutely MUST ("I must, I must") eat BBQ, then that's a fine place to do it. It is Norm Approved.
Sprayberry's BBQ is very good.
However, words cannot do justice to their Brunswick stew.
Kelly Clarkson is fat now?
I hope you're joking.
If so, we desperately need to do a Spouses of the HABOTN calendar ... all the women look like Elle MacPherson and the guys look like Brad Pitt.
'Spouses of the HABOTN'
lmao. nice.
Jet - have a safe flight from Newnan to the Gump. Make a fly-by of Jordan-Hare on your way.
The dude just stocked the work fridge with a case of Barq's root beer.
Cha-ching
That is some fine stuff.
Lebowski is stocking coolers now?
better than Elle -------->>>
When was the last time you saw Elle in an Auburn outfit?
How about just HOTTIES of HABOTN? I vote Will and Harrison share the month of July. I'm they are perfect specimen's.
(Yes, Luv, that was more sarcasm.)
"Negative ghost rider the pattern is full."
i am in!!
i can bench press over 100 pounds
the great Ron Burgundy would have no problem bearing his manly chest.

JGT...Wifey told me that Kelly Clarkson is now "fat". Wifey's point for telling me was to emphasize that Kelly is OK with that.
We had tooooo long of a drive together and the conversation veered into celebrity world.
I yell "Kelly Clarkson" every time they wax my hairy manly chest.
BTW, i dig the new curvacious Kelly.
Typo, dang phone....
Elle couldn't hold a candle to my wife!
good thing you corrected that D.Miller. that would've been really, really bad for you.
I haven't seen Kelly lately, but as a general rule:
curvy > skinny
^^ ??
I'm a little confused. Maybe I should go to sleep.
My general rule is to attack them before they get a chance to attack you.
get there first with the most
Carry a big stick.
Harpoon porpoises.
Norm, let's not start talking about Steely Dan, again
lawn mower tortoises
THT - I had to think for a second on that one. Well played.
You guys talking about fake wieners again?
I passed a Jack's restaurant this weekend and they had a huge sign selling "Fried Weiner Biscuits". I almost pulled over to get one, but i didn't.
And that, Harrison, is why you failed.
Yea! I get to peel a dozen taters. Depending on if I have any fingers when I'm done, I'll be back posting in a little while.
Peeling taters isn't that dangerous for your fingers. At least not nearly as dangerous as puppets.
i know michael, but it was lunch, so i got a burger instead. I called it Fried Bovine Flesh
Just in case you were curious... It is hot out on the lake today!
I think I might have to 'fall' in.
Before I go, I have a question. The GA folks arriving are old friends of MrsTHT. Would it be terribly bad form for me to be HABOTNing at the dinner table?
Sandwich
Priorities, THT. Priorities.
That just blew my mind… Harrison wrote the word sandwich to complete his earlier thought, and it in effect “sandwiched” DMiller and THT’s posts. Whoa. Wow. Yowza.
THT, there are at least 2 or 3 other things that are worse that HABOTN’ing at the table, so I say go for it!
THT - absolutely not. What's it to you anyway? They're not your friends. They'll probably all sit there telling inside stories and jokes.
Yeah, and they are probably using GA code words to plan on either embarrassing or killing you, so they deserve your lack of attention.
Thanks, HOTTIES!!!
I knew I could count on y'all for sage advice.
3 down, 7 to go.
Taters? Or fingers?
Both
I'm pretty sure I washed all the dog hair off of the one that fell on the floor after I peeled it.
I'm gonna buy you a diamond so big it's gonna make you puke.
the humor is on fire here today or maybe it's that I started drinking a little bit earlier..either way y'all are killing me!!
7 down 3 to go, and I still have opposable thumbs, though not much else.
I stoned a stray cat with that last tater...added protein.
the one before that was shaped funny..it had a butt crack on one end. Peeling a gluteal crease is a lot harder than wiping one.
poblano peppers stuffed with rice, meat, onions, marinara
sauce and cheese
yummy
fooooooood....yum
Deb, in the office next door, is going to help me learn Spanish in exchange for teach her to speak Alabama.
"the one before that was shaped funny..it had a butt crack on one end. Peeling a gluteal crease is a lot harder than wiping one."
That's why I stopped using a knife to clean myself years ago and switched to toilet paper.
Well said, Michael.
Michael, that had me ROLMAO!
Task accomplished just in time. Here comes MrsTHT.
F
U
Oh my gosh, stuffed peppers. Now you're speaking my language.
I love me a good poblano pepper. Mmmmmmm.
I'm still laughing, Michael.
I'm also sweating like a pulpwooder. I don't think I was cut out for kitchen duty. I'm gonna crank the A/C down to 75. I'm willing to pay for the electricity even if Mrs THT isn't.
stuffed peppers gross me out. They look too much like gangrenous gallbladders.
Dude, my AC stays on about 67. I would expire in short fashion at 75.
tht you don't eat anything that isn't sugar so i'm not surprised
I make up for the extra money it costs in the summer by not ever running heat in the winter.
My wife keeps it at 76 in our house. When I get home, I put my foot down and turn it to 75.
It's a compromise. I burn up in the summer and she is happy, she freezes in the winter when we keep it at 67 and I am happy. Cheapness rules the day!
70 would be fine for me, but MrsTHT would beat me if I spent that much money on AC.
Now in the winter, it's never set above 66 and I freeze my doodads off.
Stuffed Pepper?
THT, we aren't so different, you and I.
Mon- that's not true. I eat fried shrimp and red meat, eggs, bacon, sausage and other non-sugar nutrients.
"I think he'll ultimately be worth watching more than the other two guys..."
Does this mean Dyer is the RB most likely to sign with Auburn, or is his recruitment more wide-open than the other two, thus making it more interesting to watch? Am I reading too much into that statement?

We keep it at San Diego like 72 degrees
Keep them coming AU!!! Welcome Mr. Curry!!!
So the wife's friend is a dude? Hmmmm, sounds like a crowded backfield you got there, THT. You should become very jealous and accuse her of stuff and see how she reacts. I use this method all the time to see if my wife is cheating on me.
Michael, believe me, that's not a concern.
Even when there is no concern, it is good to accuse your wife of stuff just so she thinks you are suspicious. It will keep her in line later. Come on THT, you got to play the game!
right on Michael, like when i spend all our cash on blow and then blame her for taking the money and buying stupid stuff
the dude is nice, toooooo nice.
Harrison, we should write a marriage manual and sell to THT and others for $100. We will call it "Marriage: How to Gain and Maintain Power in Your Relationship"
is he a homer?
i am in Michael. although i never see a project through to the end, so be prepared to do most of the work. Just ask my wife about that, if you know what i mean
I have no idea what you mean, Harrison. Please spell it out in great detail.
wouldn't surprise me at all.
well, it's just about time for the waterboarding to begin. Oh wait, it won't be that pleasant. Wish me luck.
2 things...
1) Mon, that is not a fair trade. It is harder to learn and teach Alabamish than it is to learn or teach Spanish. The translations are more difficult.
2) I just saw a hovercraft on the lake! That thing was cool... I gotta get me one!
DANG! I don't either I just hear other people say stuff like that
Well Harrison, if it is any consolation, your statement seemed well thought out and provocative, so who cares if it means anything? Just ask my high school math teacher if it means anything, if you know what I mean.
THT, good luck! (and remember what we talked about)
I may be the last one to know about this, but here is a very cool mini-documentary about the '72 Iron Bowl.
The Amazin's
(it's narrated by liquid terminator)
i definitely know what you mean
Do you think the people who made that documentary realize they misspelled "Amazings"?
Dang, ehyou found out about the documentary.
Well, he was the last one.
Armed with six fried peach pies, I am back at the Hangar. And only team Team Jet Dog, "Z," was here to greet me.
That's OK. I'll survive.
I have my HABOTN Family.
What's that smell?
I think if you are forced to play with a puppet you should wear a tater mit in order to cause the most discomfort possible to the offending puppet.
Can you smell that smell?
Hoopie,
That was me.
Sorry
where's Norm or DL to do the honors?
One would think a hand up the rectum would be the most discomfort for a puppet. That's is part of the reason they are so evel, they don't seem to mind it
