Morning recruiting linkage
Hey everyone. Perhaps you should peep the short story appearing in today's editions of the Advertiser. It chronicles what Gene Chizik et al. have accomplished with their recruiting effort so far ... and where they're headed from here.
LINK: Auburn focused on fulfilling recruiting needs
SCHEDULE UPDATE: I am doing two fun things at Auburn today. I will be a guest speaker/critiquer at a high-school journalism workshop.
The main event, get this, is a mock press conference with Trooper Taylor. I'll try to get some of this recorded either on video or at least on the HABOTN. Should be a hoot.
I'm also interviewing Tommy Thigpen this afternoon. I have several things to ask him about his role in recruiting, his career approach, his mentor and Auburn's safeties.

I'm considering a ban on all Jerry Hinnen links.
He isn't "reporting" anything.
He regurgitates what other people report. So please, with a cherry on top, don't give him credit for things he didn't do.
He's parroting what Paul Gattis wrote in this story.
Sorry about that Jay. JCCW is in Michigan and all of his information is second hand. I am wondering about Savage as well as where Todd is really healthy.
No more workin' at the Car Wash ...
Dear Leader - You da man!
it should be interesting to hear what high school kids ask Trooper. good luck with that.
You never cease to amaze me, Dear Leader.
After reading the Gattis article, I think the status of Savage is still unclear. They are still saying they don't know. When PPL got injured on the opening kickoff of last season, he thought it was a minor thing. That minor thing kept him out for the season, so I guess we just have to wait and see.
JCCW is a good site for gathering info in one spot. His posts are way too long for my attention span
Anyone refer to their fried cornbread as "ho cake"? Mon, what did yall stuff your poblanos with? I got a good abita amber creole glaze recipe for shrimp i run at work all the time if yall want it. That and Abita turbodog make for good sauces.Last stuffed poblano i had was with my wife in mexico, had everything under the sun in it.
Can't you see Trooper doing the the mock presser from a hot tub? I can.
That is how I would describe JCCW. He is good at collecting a lot of links to sources, but there isn't the fist hand knowledge there that you get here.
Bin ...
I have heard the phrase "ho cake," but not in reference to cornbread. OK, it was in reference to cornbread.
Ninety-five percent of the time my mother cooked cornbread, it involved the stove rather than the oven.
We called our fried cornbread "Corn Pons"
Fried everything was the norm at my house growing up on the late 60's and 70's.
And the tensions run high in the Auburn family.
Wow, Jay...harsh criticism of Jerry! To be fair, Jerry mostly simply gives his OPINION of happenings at AU, not actual reporting. He'll be the first to say that he's not breaking any news, but simply offering his opinion. Is there something going on here between you two??? I love the HABOTN and JCCW, as I think most AU fans do. I can only think of one way to handle this situation between you and Jerry...cage match!
My grandparents have always and still fry everytihng they eat in Crisco and lard and fatback. They are still alive well into their 80's. Screw Diets!!
JayGT- Ask Coach Thigpen if Jacinda has acclimated to Auburn. All you facebook peeps need to make sure she's welcomed into the Auburn family.
Don't worry, there won't be a lot of "HABOTN hits" coming from the alley behind their house.
yes, Binoba, we want any recipe you want to share! I don't know what was in the stuffing exactly... rice, meat, onions, marinara sauce
and cheese and ???
stove and cast iron skillet i presume, thats how my pops rolls.
If ya never checked out Mofro, check out JJ Grays homage to his granny's ho cakes.

My Grandfather fell over at the table eating fried chicken (like he always did for lunch) at 72. Not a bad way to go after a great life.
i will shoot it to you on facebook later today mon.
Oh - due to a massive heart attack
I'm proud to be a corn pone
EA Sports guys had set up a NCAA trivia challenge thing, where you go answer a few questions and the team you root for gets points.
Auburn is leading by a small margin (Like.. 150,000) over the closest rival.
On here
Bin...
Please befriend me on Facebook. I want recipes!!
I haven't seen Jay attacking JCCW. I think he just wants the person that actually tracks down the stories to get credit for them. Also, the HABOTN is different than the JCCW. I think we all count on the HABOTN to be factual, which JCCW is more opinionated, not that there is anything wrong with that. There is just a difference between news and opinion.
I hope the kid doesn't have a tron achilles as it will put him out for a year.
JCCW is like auburntron, strictly for entertainment purposes. AU happens to be the subject matter.
Thanks, Bin.
Ehyou - Are you on my Facebook?
Mon - yes
JCCW like Auburntron??? JCCW gives nice in depth analysis on a number of AU related subject matter. HABOTN and JCCW are different, but both give quality AU information, in my opinion. Auburntron is simply for entertainment. I like it, but there is no comparison between the two.
Hey KFP9 - WAR EAGLE and welcome to HABOTN!! Have I seen you here before?
Spain scores!
ehyou - send me a message on Facebook please and thank you
As long as we all understand what Hinnen is going -- parroting the work of Auburn-based reporters -- then it's all good in the hood.
I don't like it when someone says Hinnen is "reporting" something. That's not what he does. Other people do the work.
Mon has FB mail.
(I am sooo in with the cool crowd.)
JayGT - "Piqued" is a really cool word which I would have interpreted you to mean the ones who didn't attend BCW are getting all excited about Auburn since they heard about it.
But out of curiosity, I just looked it up. Knowing your great command of the English language, I'm now worried. Did you mean it in the following manner, or in the way I originally interpreted it?
1 to arouse anger or resentment in : irritate --what piques linguistic conservatives — T. H. Middleton
2 to excite or arouse especially by a provocation, challenge, or rebuff
—Synonyms
1. offend, sting, nettle, vex, irritate, chafe. 2. affront. 3. stimulate, stir, prick, incite, goad.
—Antonyms
1. please. 2. compliment.
He said "goad." Heh heh heh heh.
I've heard the word Piqued being used as an alternative to incite or stimulate.
Perhaps they were challenged when not invited to BCW.
Dictionary.com offers this:
to excite (interest, curiosity, etc.): Her curiosity was piqued by the gossip.
Thanks, JayGT
BTW, do you think Iraq knows they have a better chance of scoring at the other end of the pitch?
yes, definition #3 is the one I've always understood it to mean, but I'm not a wordsmith.
ok, I am not a beer drinker, but it sure sounds good right now. Why do people move in JUNE?? I think I already told you it was hot!
Please, I need some Auburn scoop. Anything going on in the world
Piqued from THT dictionary:
1. to excite interest or curiosity
2. to clean out, as in one's nose
cincy - this ain't much, but it's all I could find...
Opelika-Auburn News reports former All-Americans Aaron Ciarla and Carrie McCambridge have been promoted to assistant coaches in the Auburn swimming and diving program
Aero - thanks for that link. I've added about 40 points to the AU total. AUBURN RULES!!!
TarHeel
This is my first time posting here. It is possible another user had this name because I had a difficult time registering. Finally had to give another email address. I have been posting at al.com lately.
It's a start. Thanks, THT. Now I will go unpack another box or perhaps hook up the washing machine.
Hey KFP9 - I don't recall another, but then, I can't recall much at all at my age. Glad you're here!!!
I'm supposed to be getting a TV today but I've made ZERO progress on that task. I think instead I'll call the dentist and see if I can get a root canal.
Final Spain 1 Iraq 0
Very nice effort from Iraq.
I understand Jay. The key word is "work" here. There is a big difference between being a reporter and just clicking around on the web and repeating what others are saying.
THT's Commitment to a TV purchase = BBQ's Boys Commitment to the Tony Franklin System.
Until you slap an HD down in the den, take a picture and post it, we ain't buyin'.
SEC TV change in Columbus
No more same channel overlap of early and late SEC games on TV in Columbus.
Can you imagine my frustration at having to watch the last 5 minutes of Maryland vs Duke instead of the start of the CBS SEC 3:30 game? I can only hope there will be a similar channel switch for the early ACC game up here. ESPN GamePlan is the only way I can get SEC early game.
just so y'all know, I'm not reporting the above. I was just clicking around on the web!
THT, I think Jay just wants the proper people to get credit for the work they do, and I can imagine it is a lot of work. In the news business being first has to be a priority and I assume that means spending a lot of time developing contacts and probably a lot more waiting. Jay makes a valid point that there is a difference here that should be respected.
thanks for clearing up that confusion THT.
sorry josh, i already compared em, case is closed.
Buying a TV is easy.
Buy a Samsung if you want quality 1080. Buy an LG 720 if you're on a budget.
Tar Heel, I've been eyeing this one since last Christmas. My parents have one and the picture is phenomenal.
TV
I'm with Jet. I want real proof when you do get one.
Dang it people!!! I have been fighting the urge to get an HDTV for a long time. Now you got me thinking about it again.
We've had a 42" Panasonic Viera 720for about 3 years. We are ready to upgrade.
When I got HD in 2007, I was the last person on my block to get it.
Steve, do you have cable? Electricity? Running water?
You need to get one, Steve. There's nothing like sports in HD.
LOL, Jay G.
Ok, I've placed an order. Here's the PROOF.
I just hope I can convince them to haul off the old tv and the "pile of rubble" in the basement.
That is a good price, and a great unit.
All 120Hz tvs are a lot pricier than the regular 60HZ hdtv versions. Like you can get a 46 inch sony (same resolution, but 60Hz only) for less than $1000 at Frys.
Linky dink. also available at Fry's B&M stores
THT.. what's your budget? I can try finding a unit for you.
If Bin's facebook friends get recipes, I want to be in that crowd. Where do I send my application?
JayGT - that was funny. I strongly suspect we are the last in our neighborhood to get HD TV.
More on TVs:
You can get a proscan 40" 1080P lcd from costco for $500. Ask them for item # 409450
It's a good tv, and you can get warranty n stuff. I know it's not a sony or whatever, but it's a good brand nonetheless... besides the panel is good.
Aero - I was thinking about the ln55a950
Or you can get a Sanyo 37" LCD for $400 at any walmart near you this week.
Yes I am still on the other side of the planet.
All of this Lache Seastrunk, Michael Dyer, Marcus Lattimore talk has made me forget about the phenom Onterio Mccaleb!!! He's gonna be in the backfield with one of these three most likely and thats lethal
Hi jhag - yes, I'm expecting great things from OMcC this fall. I hope he aced his Applied Malzahnetics final. If he has great success, it could help lure the others to take the same course. Beats independent study sociology.
That's what im thinkin, if he succeeds then it should lure others
Elecronics Expo have the IN52A750 (52") for $1650.
52", for 1/2 the price
Comes with white glove delivery thing, whatever that means.
We just bought a "regular" TV about 6 years ago. I still consider it a new TV and it works great.
Jay, I am all about the cable TV and high speed internet. I just try to be frugal.
I even have an ancient HDTV. It is 32" and ways a ton. It is the only TV I have ever owned that I can't pick up and carry on my own.
I just try to be frugal with my money and invest it. I am doing research into how I can possibly take it with me.
My family still rocks a 22 inch or so non HD TV. The whole "food on the table" thing keeps getting in the way of upgrading. One day...
Things I've seen in HD ...
That detailed look of "WTH?" on Saban's face when D.J. Hall dropped a sure TD into the hands of Jerraud Powers.
The fire in the belly of Tubs when "Boom" was dragging back to the sideline vs. the Gators.
The look of disgust in Coarch Urban Meyers when Wes Byrum stuck it between the man's goalposts for the second time.
And yes, I saw the ineptitude of 3-2, losing to Vanderbilt, stinking it up against Tennessee and phoning it in against UAT.
Once you've had HD, you'll never go back.
SteveFC - my dad had similar aspirations. Right before his funeral, MrsTHT slipped a check in the amount of $1,000,000 into his coat pocket.
Aero - thanks, but I ruled out any TV with a RED bevel right from the start.
i agree brother jet, i love some AU football in 62 inches of HDTV lust. Soccer is good, too.
I must admit, being able to see the puck on our neighbors 78" monster was nice, except that the commies kept putting it into net that game. I didn't want HD then.
Jerry Reed is killin east bound and down on the classic country hour!
I will say HDTV ruins regular tv
Everything I watch, EVERYTHING is unbelievable on a 46" Sony XBR LCD full HD 1080p hanging above my fireplace.
We own 2 HDs
mrs. jet uses my former set -- a 37 inch Westinghouse LCD -- a fine TV.
I use the 52 inch plasma Vizio in the cave.
I prefer LCD over plasma, but I'm loving the 52 inch screen.
I've got a 46 in. Sharp Aquos 1080p above the fireplace and it's a fantastic TV.
And in the bedroom I've a 28 in Philips Pixel Plus LCD.
The TurboHD packages from DISH are very nice, all HD channels. I'm spoiled.
I don't watch much tv. Only games or movies. So I have a projector / home theater.
THT .. If you are going to spend that much on a tv, you should consider the LED version ones too. Just a suggestion.
The previously mentioned 46" LCD replaced the 34" Sony XBR HD which is now in the bedroom. For my two cents, Sony can't be beat. But that's why they make chocolate and vanilla ice cream. You may prefer something else. You'd be wrong, but at least for the time being, you have that inalienable right.
Oh yeah, I'm loving that Comcast has been loading me up with new HD channels lately. They're all now on my "Favorites" list and I don't even know what a good many of them are.
Aero - ln55a950 has LED backlighting; is that what you are talking about?
I got me a Slicky's AHDTV. Stands for almost-hdtv for 100 bucks on QVC. Bought it with my Slicky's credit card. it's pretty nice
Norm - I liked the Sony Bravia XBR KDL-55XBR8 best when I looked at them about 5 months ago; but I'm not getting one.
I need an HDTV with the LED backlighting. I am not sure why, but I need one.
Harrison, Michael, SteveFC- I just want y'all to know I'm perfectly content with the ~20" NWNHDTV in the bedroom. (that's the NoWhereNearHDTV) The only time I ever went to basement was for ESPN GamePlan since those channels weren't available upstairs. The usually el cheapo MrsTHT wants a functioning TV in the basement, so alas, here we are.
THT - I managed a major coup in my opinion in the LCD purchase. I got mine at what I gather to have been the end of the model year for it. They wanted to move it out the door and I wanted to help them. It was marked down considerably and I managed to get the price knocked down even further. I'd been researching it for awhile and as I recall, when that model first came out it had a $5k+ sticker on it. Believe me, I didn't pay anything near that much for it.
THT.
It was my understanding that LN55A950 was a CCFL backlit LCD tv. The LED type Samsung tvs have 'UN' prescript.
LN55A950 specs - CNET
that says CCFL.
UN55B---- specs - CNET .
that says LED backlit.
On Samsung's own website you can choose between the LCD and LED tvs.
Too many links.
It can be confusing.
The Conan remake should be really good, yall. A german director has been tapped that will push the envelope of an R rating and the movie will be much "earthier", like the original comic book.
There's also a Predator sequel. Won't be all that crap they pushed on us like alien vs predator. A good brit director is being considered.
World war z has been put on hold, this grinds my gears.
Jerry Clower is doing his boiled okra routine on classic country hour. Talkin bout the biggest dogfight he ever seen was over a pot of boiled okra, hilarious.
dear leader, what are the chances your team beats the saudis in world cup qualifying play? if they do, from what i read, iran fails to qualify and all heck good break out over there.
Jerry Clower = funny. All funny, all the time. "My momma made biscuits..."
This comment has been removed by the author.
It's my understanding Savage has already had surgery to repair his achilles and is no doubt lost for the year.
You guys know how CGC is about reporting on injuries. wde
did i miss the USA chokes vs "it-lee" thread?
Raise your hand if you are surprised sammy sosa tested positive for steroids. The lying is really killing the credibility of MLB.
So which is the bigger area of concern this year, us being thin at DB or thin at OL?
I LOVE Jerry Clower.
"Just shoot up here amongst us, one of us has got to have some relief."
Most definitely OL. Secondary is one of the few places we have depth. If there is an area of concern, it's most definitely LB.
WERK - as of today, OL depth worries me more.
Aero - thanks, I'll investigate. I cancelled my order for the time being.
I think it is safe to say we don't know on Savage. I have seen that Chizik referred to it as a slight injury and nothing to worry about. The truth will come out soon enough.
We should be okay on the OL as long as there are no serious injuries. The OL isn't like most other positions, they don't substitute a lot there.
Aero - from Samsung web site Q&A via the link you provided...The A950 was a 2008 model and has indeed been discontinued. There is no one model that replaced it, however. Since the A950 was an LED lit display, the current generation of Samsung LED TVs (6000, 7000, and 8000 series) would technically be the models that that replaced the A950.
So here we go, again.
OL Depth is more concerning to me than DB. We need luck to fight off the injury bug this year.
The quality of secondary depth has me concered. Yes we have warm bodies, but are they SEC level players?
THT - check this site out, I used it a fair amount for my TV research.
AVS Forum
You know, in general I am all for coaches erring on the side of caution as far as keeping things close to the vest, but is there any conceivable reason to keep an offseason injury like Savage’s under wraps? I don’t quite understand.
I think it's safe to say the people close to the program know Savage has already had the surgery and is out for the year.
Cory, then why did Chizik refer to it as a minor injury?
RK, I think we have solid depth in the secondary. Lots of good players back there.
Areed Michael, how could it help any other coach or hurt Auburn to say what is wrong with Savage.
I think Chizik is waiting until he is sure before making a statement. Like I said, PPL's injury in the opening kickoff of last season was initially thought to be minor. Speculation doesn't help the matter. I am sure they will have a doc look at it and announce the status when they are certain.
it's coachspeak, steve. Chizik is vague about being vague.
off to Sutton's for a bacon cheeseburger and diet cherry coke. Y'all have fun.
oh, Thanks Norm!
I have a rumor
While tv advice is being discussed, here is my question:
What is the best buy for the money on a 32 inch HD TV?
That's the way he runs his program Steve. Do you really think Gabe Mckenzie was injured this spring?
He doesn't have to disclose the info to the public.
What's the rumor, jhag?
Aubie - my answer would be to refer you to the link I posted for THT. That very question is quite likely discussed.
I am more worried about OL for this season AND the future.
Chizik and Roof can adjust the defense to cover iordinate DB ijuries if such occurs this season. Sortof like Muschamp did his last season.
Dare me?
http://www.tharinger.com/Recruiting.aspx
Saying... "I'm being told by a source that I trust 100% that Michael Dyer is a done deal to Auburn. Not shocking w/ the recent news around Dyer, but I still always thought he would end up at Arkansas. Great get for Auburn."
Just a rumor from a recruiting site but, I like hearing it.
jhag - you put it out there, what is it?
I dare you.
BOOM.
I would hope that AU has privacy policies in place to prevent the coach from discussing a player's medical condition. Especially without consulting the player and getting his specific permission. Too many atorney's in the world..ya know?
I'm in development/construction. We have unforseen issues arise constantly. Most are resolved easily, but the exact details of the situation usually change during problem resolution. If I issued press statements parroting every change...it would seem like chaos to the ignorant masses.
The coaches are smart to not say anything until they know for sure. Why provide fodder to the ignorant masses?
I mean..ya got bloggers eating their own b/c someone jumped the gun on the Savage sit and now we want the coach to do the same? Seriously folks.
hmm, 3 p.m. run to the coffee machine...yeah it has to happen.
If we get Dyer...then no Seastrunk? What a dilemma
Jhag, one in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.
we could stilll get Seastrunk. have to sell them as next Cadillac/Brown combo
if the emotion worn on the sleeve is any indication they'll both be playing at AU, South Africa just scored on a great cross and touch.
hoopie...
If coach has facts, share them. If he doesn't have facts, then say nothing. It's the ambiguous nothing-speak that gets under my skin.
If Brent Poole falls in the forest, does it make a sound?
It does if puppets pushed him down.
If coach has facts and has permission to release private medical info..then OK.
Why are fans suspicious ....regardless of who the coach is?
I'm impressed that our coaches/AD know when to keep their mouth shut. That is much better than spouting to a bunch of suspicious fans. Fans DON"T have a RIGHT to know.
Actually if you read ALL of the articles regarding Chiz's comments in Huntsville. He told the reporters that he is not at liberty to release info. Most of the reporter's failed to include that statement in their reports.
I'm of the opinion that until proven otherwise, the coach is on OUR side. Most reporter's are on the side of their employer.
I agree with Hoopie. Coach is on our side and we should respect that. I feel bad for Savage, but its June, it really doesn't matter that we know now or not. When the team lines up or fall practice we'll know.
You tell 'em Hoopie. I agree 110% with you (no insult intended). I suspect the only reason CGC gave some ambiguous speak is because he didn't want to be rude and pretend the asking reporter didn't even exist.
At least June has been cruising on by, already more than halfway done. That's the nice part about summer, once it is here, it just flies right on by.
thank goodness!
Why can't Congress do something useful and drop June & July from the calendar?
I think Chizik shared what he knew. We are just impatient these days and expect to know things immediately.
I guess Chiz could employ a "Sabanesque" response.
Of course some whiny, selfish fan would find fault with that also.
If it were me...I would be even more "direct" than Saban. I would probably point out the stupidity of any stupid question from the press and subsequently get in trouble for it.
You guys can spped on through to September if you want, but I got tons of crap to do this summer
Hey peeps.
I just finished the interviews I discussed earlier. I'll transcribe some Luper/Trooper selections for you now.
I've been enjoying the CWS. I gave up all pro sports years ago, thereore the CFB doldrums are good times to go to the gym and finally reduce the weight and blood pressure gained from the previous football season. This, of course, allows capacity to gain weight during the next season. So far this cycle has worked well.
I'm not sure why Chizik said what he said. Hoopie's correct though, it's really none of our business.
I've read that Savage has already had surgery and is lost for the year by people that definitely know.
If it was a privately owned team, it would be none of our business. It's a state university and subject to public scrutiny. That's like saying that what the government does is none of our business.
Mindbomb mysteriously cut off the caller that was intelligently describing the national opinion of Alabama fans.....hmmm.
Can I clarify that I really like Gene Chizik.
It is medical information about a private citizen that was working out on his own time. If for no other reason, there are laws that prevent such.
There is also the decency of not releasing medical information regarding an Auburn Student.
I take it that you don't believe the coach when he said that he is not at liberty to discuss.
Chiz knows what's wrong with Aairon Savage. Personally, I think he ought to share what he can within reason. He has a fanbase that expects access to a reasonable amount of information.
There is an implied limited surrender to the right to privacy when you enter the world of big-time college athletics.
Any coach that snipes at the media for asking (ours, theirs or anyone elses) is either an egomaniac or a moron. They're asking what we all want to know.
If Aairon's not playing next season because an Achilles tendon injury, it's news. But it's not what HIPAA was trying to address.
If Aairon had a non-football medical condition, then it's a different matter. By being cryptic, it seems, well, silly.
ehyou....my guess is that your beef is really with the AU lawyers and state privacy laws.
Jet.....ask some attorneys if they are willing to defend against "implied" reduction of privacy on a contingency basis. I don't know any that would.
I just talked to Savage, he says he is playing this year.
Hoopie,
I don't know any defense attorneys who work on contingency. I won't argue the law.
Frankly, I don't think the kids give a rip about medical privacy for injuries.
It makes a masterful screen for the coaches to hide behind.
hoopie...
I'm all for personal privacy and it's not even the Savage issue that bothers me. It's more a general dissimination of information from the university in general, with Coach Chizik being the main point of information for issues football related (which is what I care most about).
I'm arguing about something I really don't even care that much about. (epiphany) Maybe that's why my wife says I'm stubborn!!
What would be silly is another round of internet rumors that get the fans all worked up...only to find out that it was a non-issue.
Why does the fan deserve to know....the very minute something happens. What is wrong with the team letting the situation mature and releasing the data instead of a blow by blow of each step along the way.
My father-in-law had a minor heart attack recently. The medical "report/diagnosis" changed daily for 2 weeks.
Can today's poorly raised, impetuous, selfish children be attributed to modelling their behaviour after some today's sports fan?
as a healthcare professional, that is definitely not a HIPAA violation.
Help me out....which coaches don't "coach speak"?
Lane Kiffen?
I would imagine any others got fired for stupidity.
harrison...
I would appreciate advice from you on all personal medical matters.
Can anyone confirm the report of Saban speaking at a coaching clinic in West Texas. Supposedly he made the statement, "We should've beaten Utah by 2 touchdowns".
Apparently, Utah's ex OC was in attendance and offered his rebuttal the next day when he spoke, "Yeah, but you didn't.It's kind of hard to win by two tds when you're down 21 points in the first half."
Utah should have one by 6 TDs. They just took their foot off the accelerator.
Hoopie ...
An easy fix to this, get HIPAA releases on injuries (not non-football medical conditions).
You're a man that doesn't like speculation. A short, straight, truthful answer takes care of it. Get the releases and eliminate the specualation.
The cryptic answers leads to speculation, lots of it.
Holy Cow....I thought all the naysayer fans hated the way TUBS talked. Seems I was wrong...it's just a hate of coachspeak?
If that's the case...then save it. It ain't gonna change and those complaints are stale.
Richt does the same coachspeak at UGA and those fans don't complain. Why the difference?
I'm not speculatin' or pontificatin' I'm just watin'
patience, my friends.
It is certainly within Chizik's right to not tell anyone anything. It is within is rights to squawk like a chicken at the next press conference. The question for me would be why is he not being straightforward with Savage's injury? Possible answers: 1) He is not up on the details (doubtful) 2) They are waiting for an MRI or something like that (quite possible) 3) Savage has asked him not to release the info (why would he do that?) 4) He just has a secrecy habit that is hard to break.
I am OK with the first three. I just hope that Chiz isn't that much of a control freak that there is a guy on his team who is out for the year, and they know that for sure, and the guy is OK with that info being released, but Chiz wants to wait until two a days or something before he lets everyone know. This isn't hiding Joe Cope's knee injury midseason; we are in June. No competitive advantage can be gained by hiding injury info.
Jet....you're right about his answer being cryptic. It ws an obvious attempt to respect the reporter and at least say something. Based on your argument typical Saban GTH look would have been much better. Of course someone else would complain about that.
Tar Heel,
You must immediately, like, RIGHT NOW, go to JCCW.
He has something for you.
Michael..If you're OK with the first 3 reasons and not the fourth and are now agitated (based on your previous posts), then I can only conclude that you feel it is fourth reason.
It is not fair to convict this coach when he hasn't done anything cause suspicion that he is a control freak.
Again...why is it that UGA fans aren't concerned with coachspeak and so many AU fans are?
At what point did I appear agitated? I just asked an honest question (why, if we are to believe the people who know guys who know things, would Chiz not tell us?). Wasn't a dig at Chiz, because I admit I don't know what is going on. It's like when my kids are being real quiet, and I yell back at them, "What are yall up to!?" because I figure they are getting into something, but sometimes they are just like, "we were just coloring our coloring books," so I just say, "Oh, OK."
You are confusing me with some other more agitated people.
there a lots of posts about a guy not saying something - funny
Fans are funny. We had fans criticizing the receivers for being too slow, so they recruited some speed burners that are short, so fans then complained about the receivers being too small. The truth is that you actually need a mix, but such is the world of fans.
We seem to have a good mix at WR now.
