Taylor and Luper talk it out
Hey everyone. Auburn assistants Trooper Taylor and Curtis Luper spent some time this afternoon holding a mock press conference for a group of high-school students.
The students were allowed to ask about anything that interested them.
Some of the questions were mundane. Some were excellent.
Here is an overview of what I thought were the best pieces of information gleaned:
The students were allowed to ask about anything that interested them.
Some of the questions were mundane. Some were excellent.
Here is an overview of what I thought were the best pieces of information gleaned:
- LUPER on the way this staff recruits:
``We've been unique and different. We actually used limousines. That was our way, our head coach's way, of emphasizing the state of Alabama. We had to let people know that our coaching staff is here and we'll be out and about. It's unprecedented in college football. Generally, coaches go in different directions. We wanted to saturate the state of Alabama. We accomplished our goal." - TAYLOR on how Auburn plans to differentiate itself from Alabama in recruiting:
``A lot of people make mistakes in thinking it's us versus Alabama. That wasn't the goal. Our goal was to keep other schools from coming into this state and taking the best players. Look at JaMarcus Russell. He left Alabama, went to LSU and they won a national championship.
Patrick White leaves and goes to West Virginia. He put them on the map.
Our responsibility is that we take care of the state of Alabama. We'll outwork them -- no matter who it is." - TAYLOR on the lifestyle of an Auburn assistant:
If I wear my hat backward and walk into Wal-Mart, it's going to be a three-hour trip. It should be a 30-minute trip. My kids remind me of that all the time. At most places, they don't recognize the assistants; it's just the head coach. At Auburn, it's different. - LUPER on changes already made to the program:
"We are developing the culture of our football team. From A to Z. What are they like when they walk across the campus? What are they like when they walk in the building? Will they take their hats off? Will they say `yes sir' and `yes ma'am'? Do they take their earrings off? Will they pull their pants up? Everything. To develop that culture adequately takes a couple years." - TAYLOR on the role of football in his life:
``It's been more than a career for me. My father died when I was 12 years old. The men in my life have been coaches. I knew I wanted to coach when I was 13 years old. Those men brought me into their homes, took care of me, treated me like family. The funny thing is -- most of them weren't the same color as me and none of them had the same last name as me.
All they ever asked from me was for me to do my very best." - TAYLOR on why he named a son Star:
``for the side of the helmet of the Dallas Cowboys." - TAYLOR answering this question: "What was your reaction to the recruit who called out Nick Saban during Big Cat Weekend?"
(**HABOTN point of information: Player in question is TB Lache Seastrunk.)
``He's a 17 year old kid. We're not allowed to comment on their exact names and stuff, but he's a 17-year-old kid. We had to help him and make him understand why that was such a significant deal. He doesn't know. You can't be held accountable for something that you don't know.
Our job is to teach those guys, once they get here, between right and wrong. It's happened to me before. I wouldn't not have taken it personally. I would have considered the source." - TAYLOR on Alabama's recent NCAA troubles:
(**HABOTN point of information: Luper urged Taylor to no comment this one. Taylor couldn't help himself.)
I should give a no comment this, but I'll tell you this: I've got to mow my own grass. I can't tell you what's happening at another school. We'll learn from this, too. Even In life, you have to learn from other people's mistakes. I don't know the scenario or situation on how it got to be what it was, but I know we'll make sure we're not in that same scenario.
Anytime something happens that may affect our players, we take Cliff's Notes. We have a team meeting and we go over it -- whether it's a player getting arrested at another school or a student who may have gotten hurt with a bad choice.
We let them know: This could easily be you."

I was linked from this blog to an article that linked me back to this blog. I am dumbfounded by this circular paradox.
I can see Jay on ESPN now. Some caller names Salsa calls up and ...
Hey, if I got a paradox, I'm goin' all in.
I'm not going to stand here and let you badmouth the greatest wide receivers coach in the United States of America ...
Gentlemen!
If I didn't know it was wrong to bad mouth him, I can't exactly be held accountable now can I Jet?
Michael ...
At last check, Michael, you're not 17 years old, and, more importantly to the case in discussion, you are not one of the top three RBs in the U.S. of A.
Just sayin'.
I'm thinkin that both Troop's and Michael's comments should only be considered only in constext.
I just learned two new things.
A nuclear plant is being built in Pikeville, KY (about an hour from me) and there is a town named War Eagle, WV.
Nuke-you-lur.
correction: Piketon, Ohio, an hour and a half from me.
Hoopie - are you having afternoon cocktails?
Wow, I didn't know there were any new nuclear plants being built. I haven't heard of one being built in forever.
That is a bit reminiscent of Digger's possessed keyboard.
Mon...the important consideration....are you downwind of the prevaling winds?
In Jawja it's pronounced new-ku-leer, thanks to Jimmy carter.
By the time that baby is up and running I'll be a resident of Alabama.
I'm studying plans and clearly not focussed enuff to prevent typos.
Come to think of it....it's 5:10 EDT....cocktail hour!
Baby watch, Mon?
time = 17:16 very good
Sounds like an excellent plan, Hoopie. I'll be glad when Greg gets back and can mix me one of his delicious margaritas.
No word from Baby Watch HQ, Jet. Although I did have a very bad dream last night that Dirty was so mean to me!
On Yahoo, they have Forbes' list of the top 10 best paid athletes.
No. 10, at $34 million, the most overrated sports figure in history ... get ready, Cousin Humpers ...
Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
Dream or flashback, Mon?
I finally get to take a break. Was hoping something exciting had happened while I have been incommunicado. Cable guy just came and set up HD and internet - yea! Had been mooching off of someone in the neighborhood's wireless until today. Well, off to make another Wal-Mart run for more organizing stuff. My sister sure has a lot of junk to organize. But she bribes me with Dove dark chocolate. :)
Dirty is usually a very nice person. She does have a very dry sense of humor and a gift for sarcasm.
(hold your S.A. comments please)
:-)
Buy garbage bags instead, Cincy!
I like Heath bars.
I like Almond Joy and Mounds because sometimes I feel like a nut, sometimes I don't.
Monica,
We've taken two truck loads to Goodwill, one truck load to the dump and several boxes of books to donate to the church library. Have another load ready to go to dump! I'm convincing her to get ride of tons, but I think the stuff multiplies when I sleep - which is only about 4 -5 hours a night. But, it is looking fabulous!
And, ehyou, she bribed me with Heath bars last night. This is not helping my diet any! People from the church keep showing up with more and more food.
i could live without bama if all traces of their existence could be wiped from the history books and the minds of AU fans and cousin humpers. load them all up on a rocket and shoot them into the sun. the inventor of houndstooth should be stricken from the record as well.
it would be like a lost civilization of double-wides... archaeologists would think the mullet was a tribal status symbol or something like stretched necks or lip rings...
I love church folk and their generous ways with food. They are dear to my heart.
just looking up War Eagle, WV... it's next to Whamcliffe, and just a stone's throw from Longpole, Johnnycake, and Paw Paw.
HA You're working it off, Cincy! Enjoy those goodies!!!
chip chip, that is very funny. And I agree with you. But what did the sun ever do to you?
I really like Dale Jr., but I have to be real.
He is the most overrated athlete in America. There is no doubt.
Driving a car makes you an athlete? Hot dog!!! I am an athlete!!!
back in the 70s they had those stupid Wide World of Sports (or maybe NBC) competitions between athletes from various sports, including NASCAR. The NASCAR "athletes" always finished last.
Where is Frankenbummer these days? Anyone seen him?
hahaha THT
THT did you see my post about the cool map stuff my local library has online?
yep
Michael - are you reading my mind again?
MrsTHT says reading my mind is like reading a first grade primer.
See Spot. See Spot run.
yep? alrighty then
I'm beginning to think Chips bamer hate is more intense and genuine than Jets.
Just sayin
Sanborn maps are generally later than my primary interest in maps, but they are fascinating with all the incredible detail they contain.
MrsTHT's bama hate tops all.
As for me, I would be happy if they didn't exist, but I say shoot them into a black hole. No point in scarring the sun's surface with that crud.
Coach trooper needs to name his son storm, and slap the rest of his name on there StormTrooper Taylor. Oh, i also got enough requests that i will post this on the interwebs for all of HABOTN to enjoy.
you need
1 c melted butter
1c brown sugar
1 red yellow and green bell
1 red and or yellow onion
1 poblano
blackening seasoning (i buy chef paul prudhommes)
couple cloves garlic
1 abita amber or turbodog , turbodog gives you a fruitier flavor
chicken stock (just don't use water, veggie stock is fine)
6 oz honey
sautee the bells, onion, poblano and garlic in the butter, (don't burn the butter melting it) when the onions go translucent or opaque in color add your blackening seasoning and brown sugar. When everything is drying up and sticking together, add your abita and a cup or so of chicken stock. Let this reduce until it thickens, you may need to add a litttle extra brown sugar or a lil white sugar for it to "glaze" for you. Once you've gotten it to reduce and start the glaze, add about 6 ounces of honey depending on how thick your mixture is. This willl round out the sauce and give it a good consistency, just whisk it in. I like this on fish and shrimp bobs, haven't really tried it on anything else. Enjoy.
bart
My recipe has a large yield, you may want to cut that in half for home.
everybody must be cooking
i guess so. I am going out to eat tonight. Father in law is in town and wanna show him a good time. Had some yellow snapper with andouille creole sauce and brown rice last night.
Wow, what a long day. Finally settled back in.
By the way, the new iphone software upgrade is well worth it. I like the new look and useability.
Time to go give my youngest a bath. Check you guys later.
Hate Bama!
Steve- Nuclear Power plants are the new rage again. They are building one in South Carolina and I think even Georgia, not sure about that. TVA is currently building the 2nd unit at Watts Bar along with rebuilding a whole new nuclear plant at Belefont (sp) just outside scottsboro, AL from the shell that was built over 30 years ago. Nuclear Power is the hot thing. My dad is working on the Watts Bar Project.
I refuse to allow this thread to sit silent for an hour during prime time.
Auburn Plainsman talked to the DBs about their summer workouts. Link on tigerland.com
Where did evyone go? Did the nukeleer plant blow?
Evan Woodberry has 2 reports on campus business discussed at BOT meeting. Y'all know where you can find his stuff.
I think they're all cooking up that recipe provided by BinOBA. I don't eat poblanos or whatever it was, that's why I'm still here.
NoVaTiger's 6 step remedy for Football withdrawal:
1. Choose a new hobby.
2. Become obsessed with new hobby (this can continue through all succeeding steps and beyond).
3. Acquire equipment for new hobby.
4. Get trained for new hobby.
5. Plan trip to indulge in new hobby.
6. Carry out trip (along with children) to indulge in new hobby (this step is particularly important for the June/July period).
So here I sit with my living room covered by Scuba and camping gear, preparing to leave tomorrow for a week diving in the Keys and a week of hiking, fishing and rafting in the North Carolina mountains. Auburn won't cross my mind for the next 2 weeks and by the time I'm ready to think about football again, it will be almost time for fall practice to start.
Bin lost me at the bell peppers... nasty things.
there are ticks and bugs out there, NoVa!
NoVa - I concur; as I stated yesterday, I think they look like gangrenous gallbladders.
There's Deep Woods Off in the camping gear!
Have fun Nova. My hobby for the offseason is Disney. It's killing me to have my Annual Passes buy having to wait until December to first use them and start the 1 year window.
Did anybody happen to catch the Storm Trooper interview on SportsCall today?
Eddie, I think you chose the more expensive hobby.
D.Miller- I didn't, but I someone summarized the interview else where. I intend to listen to it soon. Sounds great to me. I'm looking forward to the next big ploy. It also sounds like he feels really good about getting some awesome WR's in this class.
Nova- I know I did. Unfortunately, everything I really enjoy costs money. Auburn Football, Duck Hunting, Golf & Disney. Duck Hunting is the cheapest by far, but you can still drop some bucks easily. I need to take up camping. That sounds like fun. Speaking of scuba diving, my bosses bought a pass for 8 people to dive in the Georgia Aquarium Tank with the Beluga whales at their charity golf tourney, but he didn't realize you had to be be diver certified. Sounds like I may need to go get certified. Is that expensive?
Monica,
Something is either genuine or it is not. I cannot speak to the intensity of my UAT hate. I leave that judgment to others.
Whether my hate is genuine or not is beyond question.
Eddie,
where is "elsewhere" that you read the interview summarized?
Basic Open Water course runs about $450-$500. Most places expect you to have your own mask, fins, snorkle and boots (may not need the boots depending on the type of fins and the water temperature where you're training.) That'll run around $250-$300 unless you can find used. They usually supply the rest of the gear for classes. You'd need to rent it for the aquarium (tanks, weights, BCD, wet suit).
The skills may push your comfort levels. I wouldn't get into it just to dive the aquarium unless you're pretty sure you want to do more. Lots of places will do a resort course where they give you a little instruction and training and let you dive with an instructor. You might see if that can be done at the aquarium.
Nova- I agree about not doing it just for the aquarium, but I was interested in the expenses. Sounds like it would be fun, but my fear of sharks may never make it feasible.
D.Miller- Here you go:
--Hot in Alabama. Told players to get out in it so they'd get used to it. Players told him 'you don't get used to the heat in Alabama'.
--Tiger Prowl kept Auburn in news the right way and on recruits' minds.
Coaches had fun getting to know each other in limo.
--Defended the cost of limo (pizzes me off that we have to defend that!)
--Big Cat was to build relationships with recruits & our players.
--Got a pie in his face.
--"Don't matter if you're Tuberville fans or Pat Dye fans. Put that to bed.
We're all in the same family."
--1 more Sr. camp.
--"Blessed" to have Coach Yox. Players out there "sweatin like a hostage".
--Players come by & visit about girlfriends, classes, etc.
--Will build chemistry as team when all frosh get here.
--Frenchy: no knee brace, told Pierre: 'toughest part is between your 2 ears.' Has tlaked to Frenchy's HS coach for motivational tips.
--Tommy Trott: 'In love with Trott'. Looks good, If he stays healthy, he'll cause some match-up problems.
--Needs Tim to show up. Tell him 'like a limo with no gas, look pretty but can't use you'. Tim buying in.
--Montez: healthy
--Terrell Z. & Darvin A.: most improved
--Players already focused on La Tech. watching tapes.
--"I will play everybody who deserves to play. The ones that can do it will be out there."
--Will bring in 4 receivers in upcoming class. Has 8 in an elite group & 6 of those look good to come to AU.
--Upcoming Surprises? (Here he commences to giggling alot)!!
--Promises the holiday will be enjoyable (didn't say which holiday)
--"It will BE the fireworks. Save your money & don't buy fireworks."
Speaking of giggling, I just started...
Rick Reilly just went up about a thousand places on my favorite people list.
He loves to see pro golfers frustrated, uncomfortable and wet.
Finally someone who voices my thoughts.
Eddie, it's fantastic.
I pulled my avatar from a thread on Scubaboards that basically asked "What would do if you saw this coming at you?" I fell in the "Hope I have my camera with fresh batteries and empty card" bunch. I've come within 9ft of a nurse shark (earlier avatar) on a snorkel trip.
If you can't overcome that fear, there's lots to do and see in fresh water. Also, sadly, sharks are rapidly diminishing in number.
I can't recall ever watching an awards show, but I'm guessing I'm the only Hottie who just finished watching the NHL awards. (NoVa's been too busy packing to watch Ovie haul off a bunch of trophies?)
Nova- was one of the answers make muddy water and hide in it?
It sounds like a lot of fun and it is definitely on my "bucket" list.
THT- Did you see the pic of the floating stanley cup? I thought that was a great picture.
Eddie, thanks for that report from "elsewhere." I'm gonna have this silly grin on my face until the BIG FIREWORKS! Then, it'll just get bigger.
WAR EAGLE!!!
Outlaw Josey Wales on Ion now
Just this piece of hard rock candy. But it isn't for eating. It's just for looking through
Eddie, there was one reference to pooping in a wet suit. Others pointed out that you don't have to out swim the shark, just your buddy.
Overall, it was probably one of the funniest threads I've ever read.
BTW, sharks almost never attack divers unless they do something stupid. They go after things on the surface because they look like seals or wounded fish.
Nova- That's good to know. I'll try the out swimming my buddy method. Maybe I should slash him and run.
Thanks Eddie...
By Holiday, he almost has to be referring to the 4th... right? Especially with the fireworks comment?
I might just giggle a little. Can't wait for the 4th to get here!
Night Hotties. Time to go get my beauty rest so that I can get my early workout in.
See ya on the Flip Side!
Oh, here is an early Happy Jeno James Day!!!!!!!!!!
I guess my fear of sharks is unfounded. I do not have the ability to stay at the water's surface.
Eddie - nope, I missed the floating Cup photo. Where did you see it?
D.Miller- that is what I took it to mean. I've also heard that July was the next big recruiting event, so that makes perfect sense. Also, anyone notice where Seastrunk moved up his commitment timetable to July??? Hmmmm. Makes you think.
BinOBA...
Sincere thanks. If you haven't guessed, I like food. This sounds phenomenal. It will be held safely in the secret recipe nook for future use.
my favorite part; he's about to go to town and shoot some yanks.
THT- It was on ESPN SC this morning. It may be on their website somewhere.
Eddie...Thanks for sharing. Is it posssible to link to that interview?
Troop is a one-man sound-byte marketing machine. I'm surprised he mentions his conversations with recruits so candidly.
Troop provided enough material to last Jet the rest of the summer in that one interview.
Me and sharks get along. My wife has a phobia. I like to point out that a phobia is (by definition) an irrational fear.
Hoopie, It be found here, but not sure.
http://sportscallonline.com/radio/
I refuse to be rational when it comes to sharks.
It's Sean McDonough's nite to do the CWS game. I like his take on the game, but the guy really needs to get those adeniods fixed.
Eddie..thanks for the link. I didn't realize that they were online everyday and at the same time as mindbomb.
Go get some rest and thanks again.
Coaches' Trott love = NASCAR fans love for Dale Jr.
Lots of love, little return.
Hopefully that changes.
OK, now I've got to hope I can get a few shark pics on this trip. ;-)
A close encounter of the toothy kind.
jet...
We all hoped that Trott would be deserving of our love. I have come to terms with the fact that it'll never happen.
eddie,
Wait just a cotton-pickin' minute here! When did Seastrunk move his committment timetable up to July? Where did you see that?
TGI almost Friday!
I can't leave it at...
Anyone else smell that smell?
I like the way you think. I believe I'll go ahead and wet my whistle in celebration of Friday.
It is wonderful to hear that more nuclear plants are finally on the way. Global warming? Blame the anti-nuclear idiots.
I wet my whistle nightly in anticipation of Friday. I'm off work for a few days so today was my Friday.
So do we have any QB stalkers in the greater Auburn-Opelika area?
Norm are you doing something fun on your days off?
Sean...
I can be there in 2 hours if you need one.
I can as well, I'm not far. I was just wondering if anyone had been scoping out our top 2 guys in their "voluntary" summer practices?
Driving to P'vegas in the morning to get my daughter and bring her back her for a handful of days. We'll do a variety of miscellaneous stuff. Mostly I'll just chill with the family or take the kids somewhere.
I reckon so
P'Vegas = Prattville?
Drive safe dude.
G'night all.
Prattville, yes. Makes for a long day, but it's worth it.
g'night ehyou
shaken, not stirred on scifi
Goodnight Hotties.
better option on History: Patton & Battle of Bulge
best option: none, until CFB & hockey seasons
in my neck of the woods (EDT) it is officially...
HAPPY STEVE WALLACE DAY!!! T-minus 78 days and counting til kickoff!
Steve Wallace was a great All-American OT for Auburn, All-Pro in the NFL, and 3 time Super Bowl Champion with the 49ers.
I'll give honorable mention to a few other great 78s, including Jeno James, Benny Sivley, and Keith Uecker.
WARRRRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!
Chris Todd will likely be the starter at QB.
we need to call out the HABOTN recon team to go to gadsden and get a pic of dre's charger. he drives it all over gadsden from what i hear. it is the black one with "Dre Kirk" on the side and "21" on the hood. i just wanna see the damn thing! someone go pour sugar in the gas tank and see where the repair bill is sent!
Anyone still awake? Taking a quick break from packing. Excited to hear what will be happening in Auburn over the "holiday". Sweet dreams, I hope to sleep after we unpack about 5 more boxes. See you tomorrow.
TGIF!!!!
Happy Jeno James Day!!!!!! and Steve Wallace also.
Done with the workout and about to be off to work.
Good morning, Hotties! We made it to Friday!
I was so disappointed when I got home yesterday and turned on the t.v. and found out the U.S. Open was postponed until today. I hope they have good weather for the rest of the tourney.
Chris Todd? He's still around? J/k. The only reason Todd takes a snap next year is if the coaches think Kodi and Neil are complete rubbish and the plan is to hand it over to a freshman for the 2010 season.
How many QB's are on scholly?
Morning Hotties!! Happy Steve Wallace Day
TGIF!
Have a great day folks.
I will have a great day! I'll be in the state archives browsing through several thousand 200 year old letters looking for references to a map. Needle in a haystack exercise.
WAR EAGLE!!!
t minus 78
Smart Football posted a very good article on
Malzahn's spread yesterday. It goes into some X's & O's.
I just read the latest on Rivals about Auburn Recruiting in general, and wow, just wow. This staff is doing an excellent job. Best job that I have seen in quite some years. The key is to start landing some of these players and it looks like Auburn is about to start doing so. Recruiting should keep us pretty entertained until football season gets here. Sit back, relax and enjoy it.
Thanks ehyou, because I wasn't hyped out of my mind listening to Trooper earlier, that whole thought of how good our offense could be has taken me over the edge. Thanks.
tommyd...
Easy there big fella. Let's try to keep things in check.
Can't Man1 I'm ready for us to go out there and kick some Bulldog butt!! Okay its Friday and I'm ready to start the weekend now, maybe I'm more eager than usual
So, Eddie, 1 "wow" wouldn't do it justice? It needed 2 wows? I like thing that require a double wow. When 2 wows are used prior to an event, the event usually ends up getting at least 1 wow when it occurs.
If you are in a sharing mood...
So much for cautious optimism, huh?!?!
THT,
Treasure hunt?
I have gone from reserved skepticism to optimistically cautious optimism.
I'm still cautiously optomistic, but I just haven't seen us do this type of recruiting in a long time. I believe that this could be some fun times in the next few years, provided we keep this staff intact.
ehyou - thanks for reminding me of that blog - I learn alot about X's and O's from that guy.
Interesting comments following his post.
I love how people think Auburn has this massive talent vaccuum. They'll say hey, look, success at Troy and Tulsa but they get to Auburn and die because there's no talent? I mean really? Franklin didn't bomb because of the talent or lack thereof but because of mismanagment of the team the execution of getting the scheme installed.
And also because of lack of talent, Sean.
Michael, Sean isn't available right now as his head has spontaneously combusted. We'll get this mess cleaned up and have him get back to you shortly. Thanks!
eddie, i've started to notice a bit of a trend in recruiting that has become especially prevalent during this cycle. have you noticed the same or is it just me?
if AU offers a recruit, that has a previous offer from CHU (cousin humper U) the CHU offer will mysteriously disappear or become "verbal not written". many times both recruiting websites will remove confirmation of a CHU offer that has stood for possibly months. conversely, if AU offers a recruit with no CHU offer, a CHU offer either follows rather quickly if they truly are interested and have an advantage (bammer HS coach etc.) or they back off completely if it appears the recruit may actually consider the AU offer. it just seems that the competition for certain recruits is carefully orchestrated and manipulated in some cases so as not to appear to be "losing" recruits to AU. of course, this does not apply in all cases. i've mainly noticed it going on with the mid-level 3-4 star type recruits.
This could be paranoia on my part, but it seems to have happened a number of times the last few months.
That was funny, Sean.
chip...
I would absolutely not put it past Short Stuff to manipulate the system in any minor way that would be to his advantage. Just stand up and go chest to chest with us (or chest to thigh in your case).
Chip- I've noticed that. To my undersstanding, most people that run CHU various recruiting sites have the ability to edit each recruits offer status from their prospective school. There definitely seems to be an agenda behind all of this, and it would not surprise me in the least, if that order came from some higher power CHU(or being according to some CHU loyalist). These recruiting sites are the new tools in recruiting. The recruits love reading about themselves and others, so it all becomes a big game. That's ok that CHU keeps taking their offers away after a recruit heads to Auburn. Eventually we will be saying that I guess CHU just didn't want that so and so 5-star player, even tho there is plenty of articles to back up there interest in so and so prospect.
That was a long way of saying that I agree with you Chip.
Chip ...
Some call it paranoia, I call it being "astute."
I wouldn't be surprised if some day, an enterprising reporter unearths a "payola" scandal within a recruiting service.
Maybe I'm paranoid, too, or maybe I'm astute.
maybe you're an astute paranoid.I just call myself misunderstood.
maybe he's just paranoingly astute. And yes I know I just made that word up. Being misunderstood is just a cover-up for other people's lack of understanding, don't take it personal, Harrison.
Morning, happy Friday, War Eagle.
Speaking of recruiting tools(fools), whatever became of Forrest Davis? I will never forget him comparing Tyler Watts to John Elway.
Remember, you're not really paranoid if they are actually afrtgjkl g AAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! THEY'RE HERE!!!!!!! I HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE!!!!! THE WALLS ARE CLOSING IN! AHHHHH!!!
is there really an AU pay site worth paying for??
Auburn just pulled the offer to Markeith Ambles (4*, #7 WR). So did Southern Cal and I think Florida. His invitation to underarmor all american got pulled too.
I don't know the reason.
Still competing for him are the fulmer cup leaders, i,e bammer, fsu, utenn and probably uga.
Bin ...
I pay for Scout and Undercover. The only thing I can say is use them for a resource, not as gospel. It's like these business shows on cable, you can hear what you wanna hear if you change channels often enough.
BinOBA- If you like to follow recruiting, I recomend auburnsports.com, the rivals site. That is the real advantage to a pay site. The other information will genuinely be the same.
POP QUIZ

thanks yall, there is a new woody harrelson flick coming out in october, it's called zombieland, youshould google it or something, the trailer looks AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
It's a comedy/action/horror. Great trailer, worth your time.
some dude I never heard ofjust made a "1" on thepar-4 1st hole at the US Open
you can watch a HD trailer at http://www.quietearth.us/
scroll down a couple articles and you'll see it, lead characters name is tallahassee.
nevermind Yahoo screwed it up. the guy birdied
Sean, I really don't consider it that the Franklin Experience bombed. It wasn't great, but the bomb was when we got rid of Franklin and gave Kodi the reins at QB. I knew we were done then.
I do think Franklin needed to go at the end of the season, but we were much better off than the offensive offense we saw after that. Kodi proved what Borges and Franklin both knew. He wasn't an SEC quality QB and made his mark in high school off of athletic ability.
As for Todd, with decent arm strength he will beat Kodi out easily. I can't really say for sure about Caudle because I haven't seen him play enough, but my guess is Todd beats him out also.
And yes, I think the coaches will be looking for Trotter, Moseley, or Rollison to be our future at QB. I expect one season of Todd and then a more longer term solution at QB. I am not convinced Rollison will be the guy. There is a good chance Moseley will be just as likely.
Soooo, part of my job is to make clothing colors look the same in catalogs as it does in real life. Just came across a Ralph Lauren houndstooth suit jacket. What do I do now?
staple a mullet on it
burn it
Poop on it.
Or tee tee on it.
Here is a preview of what our running game will look like. I like the way Chris breaks things down.
Tell Ralph there will be no houndstooth this Fall.
potty humor!!! thanks michael
You are so very welcome, Harrison.
Thank you all for your suggestions. That clothing catalog will not actually have houndstooth in it this fall.
That was a good burger! I think I just clogged at least 2 arteries.
Well, D.
Hamburgers are Dang Tasty!
Auburn is planning to play Jacksonville State in 2012 or 2013.
so probably the schedule will have jacksonville kittens, the chatanooga bathroom slippers, UTMartin fighting sparrows and University of Phoenix Online banana slugs.
So you're saying we'll have at least 4 wins that year, right?!
well it was either Jax State or UCLA, so that was an easy choice. That game is in the GA Dome, right?
Well duhhh!!!
Playing Jax State violates two of my three basic tenets of non-conference scheduling:
1. Play one BCS conference team each year.
2. Play no FCS (I-AA) teams.
3. Play no instate team, other than Samford.
BOOOO!
Jax State?....groan.
Is Jacobs responsible for this? He just dropped the thousand places on my favorite people list that Rick Reilly moved up yesterday.
The responsibility has to on both Jacobs and Chizik.
So Jacksonville State added to the schedule...well it might have a bigger crowd than playing Western Carolina or UTC.
That's the only positive I could make.
They're throwing Jack State a bone to help grow their program, this will help to finance some of their improvements to their athletic facilities etc.
I'm such a sucker. I bought the new iPhone.
It wasn't near the hassle as in the previous two years. I think the fact that they let people preorder to be delivered at home via FedEx this year helped a great deal.
First impressions. Looks exactly like last year's version. It is a good deal faster bringing up apps and things. Don't know how much I like the universal search feature..I could care less how many emails I have with the X name. It is good for sorting through a bunch of contacts though.
Voice Calling will be good for me because I am on the road alot.
I got the 32GB phone (Black, of course) because they had sold out of the 16 GB by the time I got there.
Now wiping all the junk off of my old iPhone is a pain in the Dennis Franchione.
I read in Goldberg's article that we will also play Georgia Tech in 2010 and 2011. Is that wrong? Isn't it Clemson he is thinking of? I would rather play Georgia Tech. Both would be great.
Regarding Jax State....Heck we are playing Georgia State next year so why not?
Anybody wanna come up to Tuscaloosa and help me throw a foam brick at Bill Curry?
Probably not since he won more games for Auburn than anybody not named Tuberville, Dye, or Jordan.
:-)
Still a touch bitter FSJ?
i love me some Bill Curry. never could be Auburn and a heck of an ESPN analyst. ;)
BEAT, not 'be'. oopsies.
Oh wow, Jack Crowe is the head coach at JSU. I wonder if he'll use the same up the middle up the middle up the middle punt offense at JSU that he used at Auburn?
mrtommyd....
Me? Bitter? Noooooooooooooo...
I have a lot of respect for Apple, for making some really nice (user focused) products, and adding competition to the market.
However the only Apple product that I'll ever buy would be the macbook Pro.
I'm not a fan of iphone. meh.
Aeronaut,
I have a Macbook Pro. ( I think Jay does as well).
It is a great device. The new unibody ones look wonderful. Naturally I bought mine 6 months before the new ones came out.
So who wants to take it to 400?
iPhone is legit. I have iPhone lite, AKA iPod Touch and it's great too.
Geaux for it.
Hmmm looking forward to that smell...
Who's going to do it?
ElTurbo was the recipient of a MacBook Pro for HS graduation. I've seen him three times since. I think they're happy.
Bill Curry? Ahhh.
Oh by the way, made a mistake at lunch and went to al.com. Even worse mistake, I read until I saw comments. Mistake of the day, I read them all.
Run it up, Herman! Leave no doubt!
400.
