Tuberville synopsis

Basic bullet points:

  • Tuberville said he decided to make the change because of weak offensive production.

"It hurts. It hurts bad. It's a difficult situation, difficult thing to do in the middle of the season. My responsibility is to this football team and it always will be."

  • Tuberville declined to say when he made the decision to fire Franklin. Asked if it was during the weekend, Tuberville termed that a "non question."

  • Tuberville said there was no confrontation.

  • Tuberville said he would make an announcement tomorrow about the team's short-term plan at offensive coordinator.

  • Tuberville said Auburn still will be running the spread.

``Basically it comes down to production. We played four conference games and we just haven't done that well. I had to look at it, it had nothing to do with X's and O's, he's a heck of a football coach. It was about getting it done on the practice field and to the game field, we're all responsible to that."

  • Tuberville said Steve Ensminger was coaching quarterbacks today.

  • Tuberville said he's not worried about the effect this could have on recruits.

"Players don't come for any other reason -- they come to school to where they're committed to. Of course, we'll have to go out and talk with all the players and visit with them but I see no problem there."

What a total joke. Running the spread...Ha! Funny.

In other hews no recruits have defected yet. So far all have said they're committed to Auburn.

But ... but ... but ...

Tuberville said he's still running the spread. Why would anyone defect?

He is so full of it. Just Sunday he said that there would be no coaching changes, that Frankin was the OC. He is really digging himself a hole.

OMG,

This gets even more surreal as the day goes on......I wanted a week off after the Vandy fiasco and this crap has puled me back in!

Once again I ask....was it so bad we had to change systems in the first place?

2007 - Fluke losses to Miss St and a good USF team

2007 - Last second loss v LSU

2007 - Vandy score at halftime 28-0

Jay,

Is there a clause in CTT's contract that the buyout gets reduced for being a DA?

There had to be a confrontation because obviously Tubs was forced to do this. He wouldn't have said publicly how he was sticking with Franklin yesterday if he planned on firing him the next day. Something went down this morning, or early afternoon, I'd put money on it.

no confrontation! I'm really getting tired of Tubs thinking the Auburn fanbase is a bunch of suckers

Agreed Barkley. Or Tubs is having one of his "pine box" moments...

JayG,

How could they be running the spread without the most experienced coach to coach it? Does it make sense to you?

do you also think this has to do with the assistants or a possible issue that CTT wanted Burns to start and Franklin wouldn't agree.

So where does this leave Chris Todd?

I hope this will somehow serve to unite the offense as a team and not rip them farther apart.

They just fired the spread guy.

I have no idea how they expect to still run the spread. They tried this before -- letting someone else run Petrino's offense -- and it didn't go well.

Jay,

Give of your thoughts on the feeling around the building today from coaches, players? etc.

Well if this doesn't work out, then some people will finally get their wish about Tub.

I've been up here working to deliver the HOTTEST information.

Players are off-limits.

I saw Ben Tate briefly and he ... still looked like Ben Tate. He's no taller now that Franklin's gone.

CTT is full of it. Who's going to run the spread? The BBQ Buddy coaches who know nothing about it? Or maybe the players who obviously couldn't run it. SEC Defensive coordinators are licking their chops right now with images of Nallsminger dancing in their heads.

I hate all this stupid drama. Shut up and play some football!!! All the whining and hand wringing and CTT lying makes me wanna slap someone.

Can anyone believe anything that comes out of Tuberville's mouth? It's sad his comments are the only info we have right now. I can't remember the last time the guy was honest.

so we are going to run with spread without the guy who helped design, thats like putting together your childrens christmas toys with the instructions only in spanish...too comical.

I agree quit with the Lane Kiffin, we have half a million dollars out there in unemployed coordinators, we will be working with what we have.

I can just see a grad assistant, going to the book store, checking out the spread for dummies book.

Well only at Auburn I guess, its funny I think I would find out about a coaching move in alabama faster than a terrorist attack, within minutes, i received tons of calls, emails and texts.....only in alabama, jay

This fiasco could have and probably should have ended in 2003. The problem is, we caught "lightning in a bottle" the next season, Tubbs achieved near diety status and got a huge contract with a larger buyout. The problem for him now is that he and Sexton have milked every HC vacancy since then (most notoriously last season's Arkansas hunting trip) in an attempt to show those responsible for jetgate just who's in charge. I don't really begrudge him that given my belief that jetgate was a chicken-crap way to fire someone; the only problem is now you earn 3 million per annum as a result of all this and your recent decisions have produced the trainwreck that is Auburn Football '08. The Administration at Auburn has slept in the bed they made in '03 (see 3 million salary above), now Tubbs may have to lie in the one he's been making since then.

Oh yeah, and we will have to "spoon" with whomever is lying in that bed....Palin for HC anyone?
