THURSDAY MORNING
Post No. 1,197
Hey everyone. I saw a Lamborghini Gallardo convertible during my morning commute. It was registered in Montgomery. I am beyond shocked because, you know, I expected to go my entire life without seeing a Lamborghini Gallardo convertible with a "3" tag.
You Facebook people can peep my latest domicillian calamity. My favorite tree went down in the wind event we had in Montgomery the other day. Damn pear trees. No staying power.
(Putting that one on the tee.)
You want Auburn information. I know. Here we go.

You want Auburn information. I know. Here we go.
THINGS GLEANED FROM SPRING PRACTICE
- Gene Chizik represents a major shift in attitude: This is not Tommy Tuberville Jr. Chizik, who spent three seasons working under Tuberville, reminds nobody of the Tigers' former head coach. Practices were closed. Player access was somewhat restricted. Injury information was limited. OK, all information was limited. People seemed to enjoy Tuberville for his provincial ways. They won't be saying that about Chizik. I'm not saying he won't be successful. I'm saying he won't be a crowd charmer. Do you care? Probably not as long as the team wins.
- I know why Gus Malzahn has been successful: He works smarter. The guy is a bookworm who constantly is examining defenses and other offenses for ideas he can implement into his own paradigm. Offensive coordinators typically are happy, chatty, carefree guys (ie Al Borges, Tony Franklin, Noel Mazzone) who approach the game like art. It's organic. Malzahn has a more calculating nature, which I typically associate with defensive coordinators. I expect Auburn's offense to be surprisingly intuitive next season.
- The new coaches are very hands-on: You have the theatrics of Trooper Taylor, the raw vitriol of Jay Boulware, the abrupt stylings of Curtis Luper and the minute-by-minute oversight of Ted Roof when he's with the linebackers. The days of sideline coaching are over. This group has more energy than their predecessors. It's a more intense experience for the players without a doubt. Will that affect major changes? We'll see.

Only Scottie knows the true number of HABOTN hoodies.
I strongly suggest we make them available to the general public this fall. My HABOTN hoodie is the best hoodie I've ever owned and is worth much more than I paid for it.
AL Legislature should pass a resolution critical against JJ for not playing UCLA.
Prowler the only way for you to know for sure is to come check my closets!
Jay do you know if Chris Todd throw at all this Spring, even if it was on his own?
Is that an open invitation, MonD?
it's selectively open, yes
The man who should be president.
Big Cat ...
I just looked it up on line -- the Legislature has introduced 1,530 of them thus far.
I saw Chris Todd throw a football.
I never saw Chris Todd throw a football in a drill. He was just tossing gently, never putting any torque on the throws.
He should be ready for serious duty within a few weeks.
JGT - your stated hoodie value is akin to this particular forum. Worth far more than what we pay.
Who's on the list?
You, of course!
Very generous of you; sounds like a swell time.
HABOTN Hoodie = Da Gold
I hope I'm not on the list. I just came out of the closet. Don't send me back into one.
Jet were they all like this last one?
I was hanging up my clothes after getting home from work.
The remainder of the list is classified.
THT you're gonna get your conservative card pulled talking like that lol
I almost got post No. 420.
Where da gold at? I want da gold!
I hope tshirts go on sale again...I missed the previous go round.
Ok, BigCat, I'll just throw my clothes on the floor ;-)
Monica are you gonna become a season ticket holder when you move to the area?
Never been to WV, Mon. Isn't that where Satan is from?
Condolences, congratualations, urge Congress to pass this bill, kill that bill, complain about somebody, praise something.
Some of them hit nerves ... like this one. Not many, but some.
I know of one last year to name a room in the building for someone set off a mini-firestorm.
Oh NO! My mouth has been disconnected from the rest of my smiley face, some sort of extreme mandibular dislocation and relocation. It hurts!
THT wives dont like it when you do that. I learned that the hard way! lol
AUBigCat- she won't need to. She'll just use mine.
Big Cat ... primarily, they use them as constituent outreach mechanism ... your church celebrates its 100th anniversary, get a resolution.
Wins a state championship in football, get a resolution. Junior is a national merit scholar, get a resolution.
I don't care how liberal she is. She's an AU girl.
Bigcat - Offtopic (as if there were a real one), how's the running going?
Clothes on the floor story ...
At ElTurbo's graduation cookout the other night, someone gave him some nice monogrammed towels as a gift.
My response: "Those will look really nice on the floor of your apartment."
Then that settles it AUBigCat. Every day when I get home from work I'll go back into the closet.
I think we need a HABOTN resolution. Can we make that happen at some point?
I hereby proclaim the HABOTN as the most bitchin' Auburn blog ever created by man.
Seconded.
T minus 50 minutes to PENGUINS hockey.
GO PENS!!!!
Jay G ...
I think I can help with that.
all in favor?
AYE!!!
All in favor, say aye.
Aye.
Gatiger... not as well as I'd hope. I cant seem to get into a groove with my workout times and running so it's sporatic. Any suggestions, besides shipping the wife and kid out of town till after the race?
BigCat - RE: season ticket holder - yes, that's the plan
Powler - Yes, he and several other NCAA football coaches were born here in WV.
HAHAHA @ most bitchin
I think we need a proclamation, not a resolution. Maybe they are called something different in Alabama. Whatever it is, it HAS to have the word bitchin' in it!
Aye!
Sounds like we have an official resolution rollin'!
aye aye, cap'n
Awesome OMNICA gets the 444.
Which reminds me. Can someone (just one) help me out on the thread with 887 posts from 2 days ago. I don't want to have to fix it myself, but it's about to get the best of me.
I have a quest.
Under Alabama's liberal ethics laws, I can spend up $250 per day on each legislator in my efforts to pass a HABOTN resolution.
I remember this episode from School House Rock! Bitchin' Bills on the Hill
what's the sitch, THT?
it's stuck at 887, courtesy of yours truly. The Monk in me says it needs to be 888. But if I did it I'd feel like I cheated.
freak
I can report that I have obtained a Senate sponsor for a HABOTN resolution.
yep
and darn proud of it
I would very much appreciate a resolution, Jet.
The least you can do is put me in touch with my area representative ... if it's not you.
nice work, Jet
that look SOOOO much better. I'll sleep better tonight. Well, if the Pens win I will.
THANKS!!
I'm here to serve.
Resolution will be introduced next week. Shouldn't be a problem, unless Michael is a member of the Senate.
I'm here to say stupid things. Or talk old maps if anyone is interested. No? Ok, I'll stick to stupid. I probably know that topic better than maps anyway.
Please keep us updated if you're serious, Jet.
I'll provide full coverage.
Jet- can we get like one of those highway historical markers approved marking the site where JGT birthed this awesome monster of a blog?
I want to see a photo of JGT getting his proclamation presented to him by the Gov. He (the gov) deserves the honor of meeting Mr. Tate.
Jay G ...
We can make this happen with a little cash ... just get me the info with all the good HABOTN scoop, and I'll get it in the right hands.
Bigcat - you have mail at your edu address.
MOnica ...
Thanks for throwing me under the bus for "always" going political.
I would characterize that is patently unfair, grossly exaggerated, and a part of the vast left-wing conspiracy to defame me.
Gotta go, HOTTIES.
Taking a group of legislators to Vintage Year on behalf Big Oil, Big Utilities, Big Insurance, Big Health Care, and Big Cat (not really).
Not really.
I am very encouraged by what I have read of team Chizik. Although his approach is different, I expect positive results. I guess I should say I am cautiously optimistic.
As for Malzahn, I really like what I have read, but I don't think he or Trooper will be around very long. I actually think Malzahn would have been a better choice as head coach.
Gatiger...great stuff!!! Thanks I will keep you posted on my progress.
Jet you are one of my favorite right wing extremists! :)
Steve I played with the thought that Malzahn would be a better HC than Chiz but I dont know about that, especially for Auburn. I like the idea of having a defensive minded HC with an offensive "guru" as the OC.
Y'all have a great evening. It's just about hockey time.
GO PENS!!!
Was it decided that the resolution will definitely have bitchin'est somewhere in it?
JG, I saw where Neiko Thorpe is listed at 182, is that accurate? Hasn't he had trouble putting on weight in the past? I would think he needs to be in the 185-190 range
Thread=killed....the master has struck again
Will that's pretty impressive. A triple-post thread killer!
Will, you may have an official title brewing. That was an awesome thread kill.
Jay, you may not be interested, but you were mentioned in a piece on Sen Marks on SI.com. It is in the article on overrated/underrated players.
Don't have time to read the comments so I don't know if this has been brought up. But Jay G Tate was mentioned on SI.com.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/andy_staples/04/22/overrated.underrated/index.html?eref=T1
haha, all I had to do was read the last post.
Epic Fail.
anybody listening to Town Hall for Hope?
Michael, we do agree on the campaign bumper stickers issue.
However, if someone was driving around with a "McGovern 72" sticker on their car, I'd be ok with that.
Fletch had a pretty sweet McGovern shirt in the 1st movie.
The weather went from gorgeous in ATL to downright nasty...Gotta live spring.
Live=Love...
jay g. tate for state senate! anybody with me?
rk, glad we found this common ground!
And Will, I love it that you are able to kill threads so efficiently. So talented.
"The Dark Night" playing tonight in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Will kills threads about like Penguins kill my enthusiasm. They are getting stomped by Flyers tonight. Fleury just doesn't have the same reaction time he had Tuesday. :-(
I'm watching the Orange and White game replay...and as bad as our O-line could potentially be with injury, theirs is with starters.
I had a Batman mask I used to wear around from time to time at Auburn. Clearly, I missed my window to be topical with it since no Batman movie ever played in the stadium while I was there. Instead of being topical, I was just weird. That's better than being nothing.
Steve, I'm encouraged by your being encouraged, I believe a math prof at Auburn called that the distributive property.
Steve - you are being positive. What's wrong? You feelin' okay?
They made a movie about Saban.
http://www.arlingtondrafthouse.com/default.aspx?page=event&eid=895
I'm not even sure I want to know how you came across that.
I was in the political boat (with others) earlier. Apologies proffered.
I appreciate the enthusiasm after naming Chuck Norris my hero.
Chuck Norris' tears cure cancer. It's a shame that he will never cry.
It's playing as the late show just up the road from my new apartment.
There's no smoking at the Sinful Dwarf showing?!? I'm incredulous.
500 thousand billion million dollars!
Hmmm, some say I am postive. Some say I am negative. As I have stated, I think it will take at least 4 years to get Auburn back to where it was under Tuberville. It could take 25 years. I just like the way this staff is put together. My expectations for this and next season are lower than they were at the end of last season, but we could see significant improvement in a few years if we sign a ton of quality linemen.
Jet,
let me know if you need assistance with the resolution getting through Senate...
D Miller ...
It will be submitted tomorrow for drafting, and hopefully will introduced as early as Tuesday.
A sponsor has agreed to carry the resolution.
Congrats on the new apartment, Nova.
Steve..
Your expectations for this season are lower than the end of last season? I can't imagine anything much lower than the end of last season.
I'm enjoying Southland.
Nova..
Yeah, congrats on the new apartment. I just wonder about your neighborhood, showing movies of that nature and all. (I would insert a punctuation smiley face here if I did that sort of thing)
I never get to watch the shows the cool kids are watching. I liked Hill Street Blues, I bet I would like Southland.
I'm watching hockey.
In the words of Johnny Paycheck..."I'm the only hell my Momma ever raised". Truer words never spoken.
why don't you get to watch?
I'm very happy tomorrow is Friday. I'm also very happy I'll be seeing Dirty and Amelia on Saturday. *squeal*
... and getting my ice cream, Mon.
"Finally Friday" by George Jones comes on next. Sometimes music is mystical.
Normally just too tied up with famdamily duties to watch tv, at least prime time.
ehyou - pay attention! Why can't you watch Southland.
Jet - I'm calling your nazi and narking you out.
Downsized her.
Upsized me.
Do you need an intervention? PLEASE tell me you do!
I don't have a problem. You have a problem. I can stop gaining weight, and start exercising again anytime I want to.
This is going to be fun. Just remember this will hurt you more than it hurts me.
I don't think a little exercise would hurt, but why take the chance?
I wish everyone would leave me alone.
I love it when digger comes around. That guy is as cool as they come.
Digger is as cool as the other side of the pillow.
I get credit for Digger!
If that's the case, then well done Mon.
11:30 here. Later.
Of course it's the case. Thank you.
People who set their profile to Private suck. Has anyone else noticed the the profile view counter no longer works? Where am I supposed to get my daily affirmations now?
Monica ...
You are a valued member of HABOTN. You are witty, charming, and sassy. We should all be proud to share this space of the world with you.
That good enough for you.
whew....thanks, Jet
you're a pal
You know me ... servant of the people.
you working tomorrow? i mean going into the office...
Me? Yes.
State holiday Monday, though, YAY! Confederate Memorial Day.
I love my dogs.
I love my dog, but I don't like her at 3:30 when she wakes me up to go outside.
What kind of dog?

LOL a toy poodle for Jet! That's too yummy.
What's up, Bark?
i don't like little dogs... i have a retriever, and she's the best. she got a bird today.
don't hate on little dogs
Bark ...
I didn't either. I had a Hungarian sheep dog growing up -- think Old English but not quite as large, and reverse the colors. Named Terry Beasley.
Now, the little one runs the show.
little dogs are annoying to me...and loud
check out my girl
mon, you have a little dog?
Sorry, I really don't feel like reading through all of the posts, but has anyone else noticed that the girl in the picture on front of the blog is holding a sign that says, "I wanna kneaux where da gold at" puncuated by a question mark...
I have a Havanese - she's about 15 pounds and a Border Collie mix - she's about 50 pounds.
we really shouldn't make shirts that say "auburn's got the winning gene" until he improves that 5-19 record a little.
If he doesn't work out, then we can have the "AU has a Genetic Disorder."
hahahaah
i know i am late..AYE!!
i love it..."the winning gene"..record aside...brilliant
Looks like Lebo picked up a big. Very nice addition, with a little size next years team could be solid, although I think that the SEC will be much stronger across the board.
I've got a meeting the a.m. Must get some sleep.
mon-i didn't know the counter was broken..just figured nobody loved me.. :(
Barkley, it is somewhat strange to walk into Tiger Rags and have the Chizik shirt on one rack, and right across the aisle there are Thanks For The Memories Coach Tuberville shirts for sale. I'm with you on the Chizik shirt.
see ya jet
i'm going fishing tomorrow..gettin up early..it is fishing tho... :)
i'm rooting for chizik, but there's no way i would wear that shirt.
these west coast games need to start earlier so the people on the east coast will actually be able to catch the finish.
Is there a good BBQ place in Athens, TN?
where you fishing, Wartiger?
Anyone else see where CGC told Phelon Jones' father that he didn't have scholarship room for Phelon in 2010?
where did you see that? isn't phelon headed to bama now?
http://blog.al.com/bamabeat/2009/04/jones_a_possible_transfer.html
JD, I saw that as well. I was somewhat surprised by that whole situation, but if Chizik specializes in any one position, it would seem to be DB. I don't know if that says more about our current DBs or what he thinks of Jones. Maybe some of both.
im alive
I understand depressed, but this guy came out of McGill Toolen as an ATH and was very highly regarded as a reciever as well, I know that we could use an athlete at reciever, but maybe that means that Taylor and Chiz are happy with our incoming recievers like blake and benton. I don't know, I just know we are not very deep and can use any help we can get. Maybe their plans are that big for recruiting where they feel that the 25 people they sign in Feb will exceed the abilities of Phelon Jones. We can only hope.
i want better players than corndogU's rejects.
AU passed, mizzou passed, i see a trend developing.
jgt, good to hear todd is throwing again. especially if a LB did not pick it off and go for a TD.
I doubt the coaches would offer scholarship to someone that would sit out for a year. With Auburn's depth chart (or lack thereof) scholarships should go to kids that can play immediately.
And again.. does anyone know where to find the 'scholarship' roster of Auburn?
Friday!!! Woohoo!!!
Wifey to FL on girlfriend getaway this weekend. Just me and the girls. Should be interesting.
Happy Friday All!
Anyone see where UT QB BJ Coleman is leaving The Vols because he doesn't feel he's getting a fair shot at the starting QB job?
I hope Xaff lives in another country ... posting at 4:31 am, that's dedicated. Or crazy.
Yeah baby, Friday!!! Doing Louisiana style BBQ shrimp at the office today. Gots a feelin' that not much is going to be accomplished work-wise.
Happy Friday Hotties!
I think morning story time with Jay G. needs to continue today.
Good morning hotties! TGIF and it's one better because I'm working remote today!
Sean..
Working remote, huh? I foresee an active HABOTN day in your future.
Good morning all!!
ehyou - My wife just went to FL as well? Is there a wives convention that we are not aware of?
Oops not schlepping Martinis yet.
I believe there are wives conventions every Saturday afternoon, they are usually held at public places, indoors, with lots of food choices as well as fashion retailers. I believe they call this area "mall."
I'm pretty jealous. Weather couldn't be nicer. Not too crowded this time of year. Get to eat some fresh seafood.
Now I'm just depressed.
finally friday! yahoo! i can finish my fence today!
on the subject of hoodies, there is ONE, only ONE HABOTN UNDER ARMOUR HOODIE, just as there is only one JAY G TATE.
however, there may or may not be a HABOTN crewneck sweatshirt size Large. just sayin'.
it would not be a problem whatsoever to do hoodies this fall. navy, orange, grey, pick your poison.
lastly, if Trooper Taylor wants a freakin' HABOTN tee to get chestbumps in, then by God he will have one!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scottie, what's the retail on a Blue Under Armour HABOTN hoodie, size Large?
retail is a whopping $49.99. we sell 'em for $40.
And the hottie discount would make it....?
$36. :)
WORD, Scottie Go ahead and put me down on the early bird list!
if anyone can get me an autographed photo of Victor Riley, Brian Robinson, Craig Ogletree, and/or Walter Reeves in an AU jersey, i'm willing to trade.
i only have 4 more All-Americans to complete my collection.
50 clams retail for a hoodie? I'm so frugal I buy the crap on clearance that no one else wants. I might make an exception for some HABOTN togs though.
yup. it's expensive. if i didn't sell it i couldn't afford it.
they make some fantastic stuff, though.
don't worry ehyoutiger, when we make a batch of hoodies, there will be a less expensive option. :)
FYI, for our HABOTN fiction readers, former AU football player turned author Ace Atkins will be doing the final book signing of his new book tour this Monday at:
Alabama Booksmith
2626 19th Place, South
Birmingham, AL 35209
1. Put me down for an XL Navy Blue HABOTN hoodie. Scotttie B I'll pay in advance if you want. still got my email address?
2. payback is hell. after having nothing to do at work yesterday, I arrived with 24 hrs worth of work and only 18 hrs to get it done. So I won't be spreading dullness on HABOTN today
3. Extra pair of socks now safely stashed in car. And to balance the next load of laundry and to make up for yesterday's sinful ways, I am wearing 2 LEFT socks today. Yes, it is painful.
Oh, and WAR EAGLE Hotties!!!
That's how it goes doc, not busy at all one week, the next week you have two weeks worth of work to do in 5 days...so it goes.
it's a little early for that THT, but i'm glad you're down for more merchandise. you're officially on my unofficial list.
i think a pre-requisite for the HOTTIES FOR HOODIES program is that everyone who wants one travel to Knoxville on Oct. 2nd & pick it up personally. you could even check out an AU game while you're here. it's a WIN-WIN!
My last trip to Neyland was most enjoyable, I think I might go again.
Scottie, I'll go on the unofficial list as well.
If somehow I can get tickets to the game in Knoxville then I'll definately be there to pick it up in person.
Sean,
The last time was great especially in the 2nd half when all the UT people left.
The time before that however wasn't so fun when Jeff Klein decided to make Deon Grant an All American and Damon Duval decided to throw a ball as high as his punts.
So maybe it alternates, in that case I don't want to go this year.
New page, woot!
woot woot!
i had started a new job in Kentucky and had to work the nite of the 2004 AU-UT game here. i had to listen to it online. bittersweet for me b/c i was ill that i couldn't be here.
i do have a nice large print of Ronnie Brown running over Jason Allen over my couch, though. beAUtiful.
