THURSDAY MORNING
Post No. 1,197

Hey everyone. I saw a Lamborghini Gallardo convertible during my morning commute. It was registered in Montgomery. I am beyond shocked because, you know, I expected to go my entire life without seeing a Lamborghini Gallardo convertible with a "3" tag.

You Facebook people can peep my latest domicillian calamity. My favorite tree went down in the wind event we had in Montgomery the other day. Damn pear trees. No staying power.

(Putting that one on the tee.)

You want Auburn information. I know. Here we go.

THINGS GLEANED FROM SPRING PRACTICE
  • Gene Chizik represents a major shift in attitude: This is not Tommy Tuberville Jr. Chizik, who spent three seasons working under Tuberville, reminds nobody of the Tigers' former head coach. Practices were closed. Player access was somewhat restricted. Injury information was limited. OK, all information was limited. People seemed to enjoy Tuberville for his provincial ways. They won't be saying that about Chizik. I'm not saying he won't be successful. I'm saying he won't be a crowd charmer. Do you care? Probably not as long as the team wins.

  • I know why Gus Malzahn has been successful: He works smarter. The guy is a bookworm who constantly is examining defenses and other offenses for ideas he can implement into his own paradigm. Offensive coordinators typically are happy, chatty, carefree guys (ie Al Borges, Tony Franklin, Noel Mazzone) who approach the game like art. It's organic. Malzahn has a more calculating nature, which I typically associate with defensive coordinators. I expect Auburn's offense to be surprisingly intuitive next season.

  • The new coaches are very hands-on: You have the theatrics of Trooper Taylor, the raw vitriol of Jay Boulware, the abrupt stylings of Curtis Luper and the minute-by-minute oversight of Ted Roof when he's with the linebackers. The days of sideline coaching are over. This group has more energy than their predecessors. It's a more intense experience for the players without a doubt. Will that affect major changes? We'll see.

I strongly suggest we make them available to the general public this fall. My HABOTN hoodie is the best hoodie I've ever owned and is worth much more than I paid for it.

I never saw Chris Todd throw a football in a drill. He was just tossing gently, never putting any torque on the throws.

He should be ready for serious duty within a few weeks.

As for Malzahn, I really like what I have read, but I don't think he or Trooper will be around very long. I actually think Malzahn would have been a better choice as head coach.

Hmmm, some say I am postive. Some say I am negative. As I have stated, I think it will take at least 4 years to get Auburn back to where it was under Tuberville. It could take 25 years. I just like the way this staff is put together. My expectations for this and next season are lower than they were at the end of last season, but we could see significant improvement in a few years if we sign a ton of quality linemen.

I understand depressed, but this guy came out of McGill Toolen as an ATH and was very highly regarded as a reciever as well, I know that we could use an athlete at reciever, but maybe that means that Taylor and Chiz are happy with our incoming recievers like blake and benton. I don't know, I just know we are not very deep and can use any help we can get. Maybe their plans are that big for recruiting where they feel that the 25 people they sign in Feb will exceed the abilities of Phelon Jones. We can only hope.

Good morning all!!

ehyou - My wife just went to FL as well? Is there a wives convention that we are not aware of?

I believe there are wives conventions every Saturday afternoon, they are usually held at public places, indoors, with lots of food choices as well as fashion retailers. I believe they call this area "mall."

I'm pretty jealous. Weather couldn't be nicer. Not too crowded this time of year. Get to eat some fresh seafood.

Now I'm just depressed.

finally friday! yahoo! i can finish my fence today!

on the subject of hoodies, there is ONE, only ONE HABOTN UNDER ARMOUR HOODIE, just as there is only one JAY G TATE.

however, there may or may not be a HABOTN crewneck sweatshirt size Large. just sayin'.

it would not be a problem whatsoever to do hoodies this fall. navy, orange, grey, pick your poison.

lastly, if Trooper Taylor wants a freakin' HABOTN tee to get chestbumps in, then by God he will have one!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scottie, what's the retail on a Blue Under Armour HABOTN hoodie, size Large?

8:00 AM
Blogger Scott M. Brannan said...

retail is a whopping $49.99. we sell 'em for $40.

8:04 AM
Blogger Seanzie said...

And the hottie discount would make it....?

8:05 AM
Blogger Scott M. Brannan said...

$36. :)

WORD, Scottie Go ahead and put me down on the early bird list!

if anyone can get me an autographed photo of Victor Riley, Brian Robinson, Craig Ogletree, and/or Walter Reeves in an AU jersey, i'm willing to trade.

i only have 4 more All-Americans to complete my collection.

Blogger ehyou said...

50 clams retail for a hoodie? I'm so frugal I buy the crap on clearance that no one else wants. I might make an exception for some HABOTN togs though.

8:14 AM
Blogger Scott M. Brannan said...

yup. it's expensive. if i didn't sell it i couldn't afford it.

they make some fantastic stuff, though.

don't worry ehyoutiger, when we make a batch of hoodies, there will be a less expensive option. :)

FYI, for our HABOTN fiction readers, former AU football player turned author Ace Atkins will be doing the final book signing of his new book tour this Monday at:

Alabama Booksmith

1. Put me down for an XL Navy Blue HABOTN hoodie. Scotttie B I'll pay in advance if you want. still got my email address?

2. payback is hell. after having nothing to do at work yesterday, I arrived with 24 hrs worth of work and only 18 hrs to get it done. So I won't be spreading dullness on HABOTN today

3. Extra pair of socks now safely stashed in car. And to balance the next load of laundry and to make up for yesterday's sinful ways, I am wearing 2 LEFT socks today. Yes, it is painful.

Oh, and WAR EAGLE Hotties!!!

That's how it goes doc, not busy at all one week, the next week you have two weeks worth of work to do in 5 days...so it goes.

it's a little early for that THT, but i'm glad you're down for more merchandise. you're officially on my unofficial list.

i think a pre-requisite for the HOTTIES FOR HOODIES program is that everyone who wants one travel to Knoxville on Oct. 2nd & pick it up personally. you could even check out an AU game while you're here. it's a WIN-WIN!

My last trip to Neyland was most enjoyable, I think I might go again.

Scottie, I'll go on the unofficial list as well.

If somehow I can get tickets to the game in Knoxville then I'll definately be there to pick it up in person.

Sean,

The last time was great especially in the 2nd half when all the UT people left.

The time before that however wasn't so fun when Jeff Klein decided to make Deon Grant an All American and Damon Duval decided to throw a ball as high as his punts.

8:34 AM
Blogger Seanzie said...

So maybe it alternates, in that case I don't want to go this year.
