Auburn update, 12/19
Hey everyone. Here are a few nuggets from today's goings-on.
- TE Michael Goggans will be moved to defensive end at the conclusion of bowl practice. The freshman from Alexander City spent the fall working with the scout-team offense. Coach Tommy Tuberville said the move will be experimental -- much as Bart Eddins' recent move from DT to OL -- and will be re-assessed periodically during the next six months.
- It seems that reserve WR Anthony Campbell is going to transfer. DE Quentin Groves said Campbell is planning to play next season at South Carolina State. Campbell, a sophomore, appeared in one game this season.
- Reserve NG Tez Doolittle injured a shoulder during the team's two-hour practice on Tuesday. Tuberville said he expects Doolittle and defensive end Marquies Gunn (neck) to return no later than Thursday.
- Assistant coach Eddie Gran seemed to soften his stance that Tre Smith would be the team's No. 2 tailback in the Cotton Bowl. Freshman Ben Tate has impressed coaches with improved practice effort in recent days. He's now looking like a co-No. 2 with Smith. Brad Lester, who usually works with the second-team offense, will miss the bowl game because of suspension.
